Microsoft has announced that several new titles will soon be joining the ranks of the Xbox 360's budget priced Platinum Hits line. The new additions include some seriously heavy hitters, namely Grand Theft Auto IV, Street Fighter IV, Left 4 Dead, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Saints Row 2. Microsoft's announcement (oh so conveniently) neglected to mention prices for any of the titles, but a quick check around the ol' internet points to a price of $29.99 for most of the new additions (though SFIV curiously seems pegged around $40 for the moment).
We should also point out that while these are some legitimately great games, both SFIV and Force Unleashed are receiving upgraded, budget versions in the near future -- Ultimate Sith Edition later this year and Super Street Fighter IV in early 2010. It's also worth noting Left 4 Dead is receiving a full-blown sequel only a month from now.
Microsoft has also announced that retailers will be offering a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" promotion for Xbox 360 Platinum Hits through October 31, though the release makes no mention of which retailers are doing so. We've contacted Microsoft for more information on the promotion.

It was sad-I was going through a manual on an Xbox title. I had to stop and think for a second when I saw the 'other titles' section all listed for 49.99. 19.99 was great indeed.

I don't know why anyone would play Left 4 Dead unless they had three reliable friends.

L4D has been 30 at Walmart for a while. I'd like to see more games on this list.
Reduced to 24.99, perhaps?

I think they all deserve it. They are all uber awesome-o games.

Why don't they just release SSFIV as platinum hits when it is released and leave SFIV at $20 or less. They did that when they released Lost Planet Colonies. Same with Star Wars, assuming it is counted as its own separate game on Xbox (with it's own / restructured achievements).

I thought it was all just cause of the new generation of games thing. Like the justification of new games being at $60.00 due to the fact that they are in HD. Same with blu-rays.

Yes, it is. I've had to force myself to keep from buying one of these ugly boxes. It's hard to find non GH copies of Dead Rising, though.

I can't think of any budget/platinum/greatest hits art that was bearable since the original PlayStation days. They were good. Simple and effective. All the rest suck big donkey dick.

No, its not. I hate it when it shows my copy of ME as Platinum, even though I have the standard. I did laugh when it showed my copy of PDZ as the Limited Edition, though.

@Tom Kalinske,
Haha you can say whatever you like. We've all seen you playing platinum hits though! You may think you're a gamer, but we all know the truth... you're just a loser who waits for platinum hits!
Seriously though... why do you care if a game you're playing shows up as a platinum hit or not? If anyone tries to give you shit for it just lie and tell them you didn't have time to play it when it came out because you were busy interacting with friends or were seeing a member of the opposite (or same I suppose, depending on your preferences) sex at that time and had no time for games. Which... I assume if your friends are the sort that actually care if you played the game when it came out or platinum hits version most likely haven't even said two words to someone of the opposite sex, so they'll be so in awe they won't even think to question you on the finer details. In fact, from that day forward they'll see your platinum hits playing as a badge... a badge of awesome.

Actually, my store nfm.com ALready had that promotion you speak of!
Also, while I don't know about SFIV, GTAIV is also a PS3 GH title.

You'll want to play 4 before Super anyway. Plus, there's a bonus unlock in Super if you have your 4 disc handy. Not sure what it is, but it's confirmed that having the disc will help in some way.

Wow....the timing of this couldn't be worse!
Just got ODST and Modern Warfare 2 is coming out in about a month. Where was this deal three months ago when I was chomping at the bit for new games?

yeah, the demo was good but I didn't want to spend $60 on it. I will pick that up on the cheap a year from now too.

Man, I hate the cases for these games, I'd rather buy second hand than be stuck with a giant 'PLATINUM HITS' on my case. Just put a sticker on or something...

I can't believe people are upset about the box art. Do you sit there and looking at the box all night long.. or maybe you think you friends will not like you because, you didn't blow all your money when it first came out???
