This Wednesday: Some Lucidity for South Park on XBLA
30
Major Nelson has announced that the two games gracing Xbox Live Arcade this week will be Lucidity and South Park LET'S GO TOWER DEFENSE PLAY. The first is a puzzle platformer from LucasArts with a positively delightful art style, while the second ... well it's pretty self explanatory. It's a tower defense game set against the backdrop of the famous, quiet little mountain town. Both can be yours in exchange for 800
($10).

I haven't played a tower defense game before on console but I've played a ton of flash-based versions on the net. I'll probably give the South Park one a try it seems like a cool time waster before Uncharted 2 and Borderlands comes out...

I played it at a press event, and it's a fairly competent Tower Defense game. I like having your cash stay with you between areas (a level is composed of about 4 areas or so), and the ability to use characters as mobile towers that can charge special moves is pretty cool, too.

Ah okay. That sounds interesting. I don't know a ton about it. Only that's is a 4 player TD game where you use the characters. I'm planning to try the demo before I buy it though.
Has anyone bought that Zombie Apocalypse game? I played the demo solo and it seemed like it would get repetitive even with 4 people.

Yes, it is, but what you fail to realize is that this is an XBLA announcement by Major Nelson, who is the Xbox guy. So really, this has nothing to do with the PC. Hence no PC tag.

Yea, I saw that it's an xbox announcement. But that doesn't mean Joystiq can't mention that the game is coming to steam at the same time.

I'm a bit skeptic about the SP game, since they don't really have that fantastic of a trackrecord, but it looks quite decent. Don't know about the 10 dollar pricetag, though.
Lucidity looks like it could be fantastic, we'll just have to see.

South Park games have bad track records? I liked the South Park FPS. I thought it was pretty clever. Yeah, the graphics weren't great, but South Park ain't the best-looking show on TV.

The gameplay was just a bit stale. Gobble gobble *pop*. Gobble gobble *pop*

Pick South Park! You can kill hippies and ginger-kids!
...Do you need any other motivation? :D

I wonder if either of these will be coming to the PSN. I would love to play both of them so hopefully 1. they are good, 2. they sell well and 3. come over to the PSN eventually.

Lucidity you could just play on the PC. It's not like you need a hardcore gaming rig to play a 2d platformer. You could even get your PS3 controller connected and have basically the same experience.

Problem is I don't even have a PC. We have a couple of mac computers so games are basically non existent. But, I have been looking at plants vs zombies which has a mac version.

There's always boot camp, or, if you're that much against spending money on a microsoft product, linux and wine.

I'm going to mute the volume on Lucidity to pay tribute to Queensryche.

Lucidity reminds me of a game I played on the Mac or PC (or DS?) where you drew platforms for a guy who kept walking. Can't remember the name for the life of me. You had to lead him to keys for doors too.
