David Bowie invites us all to dance in latest Lego Rock Band trailer
Warner Bros. today announced the inclusion of David Bowie as a second playable character in upcoming music/rhythm game, Lego Rock Band, and also handed over a mess of new media seen above and below. Coupled with last month's Iggy Pop announcement , the game's playable-musician-who-probably-shouldn't-be-in-a kids-game quotient has officially been doubled. One major plus for Bowie: Lego character gender ambiguity is all the more fitting. Bravo, MTV Games! Now that's synergy.

Do you think they made the notes square back in RB1 knowing this will be released?
Peter Moore @ Oct 7th 2009 12:16AM
No.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 7th 2009 12:23AM
Mr Moore, can you get them to put Huey Lewis and the News in Lego Rock Band?
I think 'Hip To Be A Square' would be a great song for Lego Huey Lewis to perform.
Did I mention I totally think you could beat up Bobby Kotick?
AnteSim @ Oct 7th 2009 12:25AM
Stinky pants Activision would have sued if they had been circlular.
Tom Kalinske, CEO. (tomkalinske.blogspot.com) @ Oct 7th 2009 1:38AM
The song is 'Hip to Be Square." And 'I Want a New Drug' is better.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 7th 2009 2:32AM
Ah yes, you're right Tom; my bad.
I just kept on thinking about the Sesame Street episode with some squares singing their version of the song.
JeezWhiz87 @ Oct 7th 2009 6:18AM
I thought American Psycho, but I guess that's just me.
Blank-Mage @ Oct 7th 2009 12:12AM
But is he IN SPACE?
Tom Kalinske, CEO. (tomkalinske.blogspot.com) @ Oct 7th 2009 1:40AM
He is in Dead Space!
Akronon @ Oct 7th 2009 9:35AM
Yes. He's really far out.
(That's really far out, man.)
PersonOfSorts @ Oct 7th 2009 12:16AM
David Bowie is in every video game.
Monkeydog @ Oct 7th 2009 12:51AM
As he should be.
Ridgecity @ Oct 7th 2009 1:16AM

Ridgecity @ Oct 7th 2009 1:17AM

I just said David Bowie is a cool dude anyways...
Kyattsuai @ Oct 7th 2009 12:17AM
Only a matter of time until they announce that Lego Freddie Mercury's playable.
ALIENwolve @ Oct 7th 2009 12:19AM
No.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
No.
There is no reasonable purpose for Rock Band do turn into a Lego spinoff. No. It had a credible concept with those silly movie spinoffs, but no. This is just retarded. This is "Gamer Chow."
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 7th 2009 12:26AM
Oh boy! I love Gamer Chow! Especially after an appetizer of Gamer Snax
Then I love to wash it down with some Gamer Fuel.
After which, I have really nasty poops.
Yuccadude @ Oct 7th 2009 12:31AM
This is for little kids, the music is oriented towards them, and you can import the songs into RB2. Have you looked at the setlist by the way? Some pretty good songs.
frzamonkey @ Oct 7th 2009 1:11PM
the songs are importable. it is awesome.
Trulz @ Oct 7th 2009 12:19AM
Looks more like Billy Idol to me.
JeezWhiz87 @ Oct 7th 2009 6:21AM
They're "Legos"* what do you expect?
*Quotes, because are digital Legos still Legos? I don't know.
Takamofo @ Oct 7th 2009 12:28AM
Will it cut to another Lego Bowie in space from time to time?
gib @ Oct 7th 2009 1:11AM
How far out are you, man?
I'm pretty far out!
That's pretty far out, man!
WINterfang @ Oct 7th 2009 12:28AM
Harmonix is going the way of Activision, Money is too damn tempting.
linebeginstoblur @ Oct 7th 2009 12:40AM
No, Harmonix CAN'T go the way of Activision. Maybe you meant to say that MTV Games is going the way of Activision, or possibly EA or WB Interactive. Or maybe you meant that Harmonix is going the way of Neversoft. But Harmonix can't go the way of Activision.
Blind Io @ Oct 7th 2009 1:36AM
Since it's owned by MTV does that mean eventually the Rock Band games will only play reality shows?
Blank-Mage @ Oct 7th 2009 3:35AM
Even now I sense the good in them. It's not too late!
Kattleox @ Oct 7th 2009 12:29AM
Can I play this on my LSD screen?
Nate Addison @ Oct 7th 2009 7:21AM
Buddy, I'm sure you can play anything you want to on your LSD screen. You wouldn't need to buy anything to do it except for copious amounts of LSD. Good luck to ya.
pibs @ Oct 7th 2009 12:39PM
My LSD screen gives me High Definition.
FAnchax @ Oct 7th 2009 1:00AM
they need some lego rock band peripherals
Nate Addison @ Oct 7th 2009 7:23AM
Oh yeah, and it would totally rawk if they came in a plastic container and you totally had to build it your self from scratch!!!!!! I'll stick to my RB2 set thank you.
Bowie @ Oct 7th 2009 1:05AM
I wonder if you can use his telescopic antennae to transmit DATA BACK TO EARTH!
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Oct 7th 2009 1:08AM
Don't you mean YOUR telescopic antennae, Mr. Bowie?
Mr. Bowie @ Oct 7th 2009 1:18AM
With my pointy nipples?
gib @ Oct 7th 2009 1:24AM
Bowie do you have one really funky sequined space suit, Bowie? Or do you have several ch-ch-ch-ch- changes?
Poor David Bowie. Decades of fame, hit albums, and various alter egos - all squashed and suppressed into a flight of the conchords episode/song... If they weren't so damn funny doing it, it might have been a total shame.
emperorzeroxx @ Oct 7th 2009 3:40AM
Lego Games Rock
when is Lego halo 2 coming out? I've been psyched ever since seeing the trailer on youtube
Snowblind @ Oct 7th 2009 5:39AM
I'm not sure if that's sarcasm, but they're not doing Lego Halo. Lego would *never* allow their product to be used to advertise an M rated franchise. And again for those complaining that this is a seperate game and not DLC, it's intended for kids. It wouldn't work at all as DLC because then it would be combined with all the other songs, and even if there was a way to lock them off, how many parents would know of its existance?
As for the Lego games, the next one after the updated Indiana Jones is Harry Potter and then Clone Wars later in the year.

All those years of singing with him in Labyrinth are finally going to pay off!
Dance magic dance!
Mewchu [Super Kawaii Power! ^.^ ] @ Oct 7th 2009 3:46AM
Dance Lego Dance
Dance Lego Dance
Put that plastic spell on me
Make this sh*t instead of Rock Band 3
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Oct 7th 2009 4:43AM
This game is not being developed by Harmonix. It's a Traveller's Tales. Harmonix is only in charge of charting and license integrity.
Mewchu [Super Kawaii Power! ^.^ ] @ Oct 7th 2009 5:28AM
Well if TT is doing it, someone needs to tell them to f*ck LBR and make a new Sonic 3D Blast! THAT GAME WAS AWESOME!
Mewchu [Super Kawaii Power! ^.^ ] @ Oct 7th 2009 5:35AM
That should be RBL, I think I have lysdexia.
Spike (GT: SitriStahl) @ Oct 7th 2009 5:40AM
did anyone else notice that the drums activated overdrive without a fill?
HazyCloud @ Oct 7th 2009 9:31AM
It appears that one of the guitars activated it for everyone. Nice catch.
JeezWhiz87 @ Oct 7th 2009 6:24AM
They should have used Lego guitar necks on screen with colored bricks for the notes. Come on, if I could think of that they should be able to.
Ghoti @ Oct 7th 2009 9:38AM
The notes *are* Lego blocks.
JeezWhiz87 @ Oct 7th 2009 10:29AM
Oh you're right. I couldn't tell from the video, it looks like normal Rock Band at that resolution. But still, Lego guitar necks would've looked sweet.
tooPrime @ Oct 7th 2009 7:02AM
Man, I love David Bowie more than anyone and I think this looks way dumb. I love Iggy Pop too but his Lego dude at least looked like him in a bizarre way. Width of a Circle would be badass by the way.
danny. @ Oct 7th 2009 11:44AM
I challenge you to a 'who loves David Bowie the most' contest.
-dog named Dorsey (after Gail Ann Dorsey [most recent bass player]) has two different colored eyes
-promotional cardboard cut out from Reality
-over 20 CDs (including both Tim Machine albums and the labyrinth soundtrack)
-Own all dvds (concert and film except Basquiot (sp?) and Absolute Beginners
it's on... ;)
