It's a well-known fact that for the past year or so, Electronic Arts has developed an insatiable addiction for new intellectual property. Rather than kick the habit, the company's making moves to further feed its franchise fixation -- EA recently filed two trademarks reserving the title "The Ripper" for use in a computer game (or other "entertainment service").
Now, this title could mean one of two things: It may be a Visceral Games-developed action title based on Jack the Ripper, a project which was hinted at by anonymous EA sources to the LA Times back in July. It could also be an interactive biography of the life of Rip Taylor, which has no supporting evidence behind it whatsoever, but would make us happy for the rest of our lives.

I'm actually not a Judas Priest fan at all, lol.
They do, however, have some bitchin' album art.

I disagree entirely. Chris D. wins the internet just for remembering Thee Milkshakes actually existed!

geez, if you're gonna dream about a Joss Whedon video game how could you want anything more than a firefly game set during the Unification War?

Oh wow, a Unification War game could be very interesting.
The Ripper RPG entered my dreamspace first since an actual "Ripper" project was in the works for a while.
I wonder what other Joss games would make sense...
Dr. Horrible Point and Click adventure?
Episodic Dollhouse Action/Stealth games?
Xander Wii, the construction minigame collection?

A game set in late 19th century London, with accurate dress, mannerisms, conversations, etc., could be so well done. I can just imagine a sort of "Nightmare Creatures" settings, done really well, with darkened environments... dirty street alleys, people lurking in shadows, with a sort of Assassins Creed type structure.
Not sure if anybody has ever read David Liss' historical novels, obviously set a couple centuries before, but I've always been dying to have a well made game set around that setting.

Well, if it's visceral games' next property maybe it's a subtitle for Dead Space 2? Dead Space: The Ripper? There was a gun called the ripper in there wasn't there? Ah, killing victorian hookers would be fun too i guess.

Hell, in all likelihood we wouldn't play as The Ripper himself. Probably just some detective on the case. With my luck, it'll be a new guy who just joined up and this is his first case. He has to prove himself to his peers, but then someone does something nasty which makes things bad for him for a while, then he gets over it and gets the girl but is changed forever by his experience.
Yeah, I called that shit.

I hope it's not about the prostitute killer. This is a video game. Therefore players will face waves of generic baddies. If Jack is the bad guy, then that means we will play a detective of some sort and kill his... henchmen? Please no. Or perhaps there are 999 impostors?
If we play Jack, they'll force feed us some "he's misunderstood" bullshit, cause no one outside of Manhunt 1's devs have balls big enough to make a bad guy protagonist, bad.

That sounds good....only I doubt it. I'm guessing you play the Ripper and you have some cool new God of War-like movies. Laaaaaaaaame. How the hell could they make an action game out of this?

Jack The Ripper wasn't a rapist. There were no signs of rape.

I hope it's good, but given Dante's i can imagine what the pitch meeting is like:
"alright, so you have this tortured writer who realizes that prostitutes are DEMONS from HELL!!! And so he dons this armor and becomes this badass VIGILANTE to send them back to where they belong. Oh, and the prostitutes kidnapped his HAWT, SEXY girlfriend"

It is a little shady (in terms of originality) that Visceral is making a game on an old book, and then, if this is to be believed, based on the life of a real person, but I would freak for a brutal, AAA Jack the Ripper game.
Oh, I guess I am gonna freak.
YEAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!
