Last Friday, a blog entry at Capcom Unity (
that was mysteriously pulled) revealed the names and dates for a number of "UMD Legacy" titles for re-release on the PlayStation Store:
- October 8: Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Dark Tower
- October 15: Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
- October 22: Capcom Puzzle World
- October 29: Maverick Hunter X
- November 5: Megaman Powered Up
This list completes the lineup of
un-UMD'd games
promised three months ago (and tosses in
Capcom Puzzle World for good measure). While Capcom has neglected to price any of these titles, previously released Legacy games are currently $19.99 each on the PlayStation Store. Unsure of the veracity of the pulled info, we confirmed with Capcom's Chris Kramer, who told us that the "titles are correct and the dates should be fairly accurate," though he did admit that it's "hard to pin down digital release dates almost until they happen."
Still unaccounted for? Those PS1 old-timers you've been waiting
forever to buy again:
Dino Crisis, Resident Evil 2 and
Resident Evil 3.

Thanks you, James!
Hopefully they wise up, visit the PSP section of Joystiq and realize: I NEED DINO FRICKEN CRISIS!
(and RE3, since I still own my RE2 Dualshock :P )
Reuben @ Oct 7th 2009 8:07PM
Am I mistaken or did Capcom promise a flood of PS Classics by the end of summer?
Nook @ Oct 7th 2009 8:20PM
I believe they said this year would make us very happy with the content that gets aded to PSN, I do recall a comment about the summer though as well.
I'm hoping they drop RE2 for Halloween. THAT would make me very happy, 3 at the same time would make me need to change my pants.
Bane @ Oct 7th 2009 8:07PM
PSP = Fail
Reuben @ Oct 7th 2009 8:11PM
I feel so sorry for you right now.

[ArchiGamer] [80% ENTERTAINMENT BY VOLUME] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:28PM
Hmm, I guess you don't like decent handhelds then....
Frostblade10 @ Oct 7th 2009 8:12PM
Megaman X = best SNES game of all time.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:22PM
Incorrect. That'd be Chrono Trigger. Though MMX is the best of the X series.
Levi @ Oct 8th 2009 12:05AM
You're both wrong, it's Super Metroid...
Frostblade10 @ Oct 8th 2009 12:55AM
Okay, i'm gonna agree with Levi.
charlie b. @ Oct 8th 2009 12:35PM
hey yo Frostblade10, that's a great comment, and i'ma let u finish, but Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past was one of the best SNES games of all time!
OF ALL TIME!
Bane @ Oct 7th 2009 8:13PM
Oh knows! I got downvoted on joystiq! What shall I do?
That's right. Keep on not caring what the idiotic masses known as the Internet think.
[Tre (TM), who is forever confused] [blogs at trespeak.tumblr.com] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:29PM
Don't worry, the new issue of (insert any gaming magazine here) is coming soon, so don't fret. You can make all the comments you want at those and, best of all, nobody will reply to them.
[ArchiGamer] [80% ENTERTAINMENT BY VOLUME] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:30PM
You know, its "Oh noes!" not "Oh knows"......tsk tsk tsk
Reuben @ Oct 7th 2009 8:34PM
Ugh. Why do you even bother? I can't stand it when people say some flame-bait and then when they get down-voted they at like sarcastically like a child.
Seriously, what's the point?
Reuben @ Oct 7th 2009 8:34PM
*act sarcastically like
Much better.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 7th 2009 8:39PM
"Keep on not caring what the idiotic masses (AKA Bane) known as the Internet think."
I'll take your advice bub.
*downvotes*
HippoHero @ Oct 7th 2009 8:51PM
If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have bothered informing us you don't care.
Viney @ Oct 7th 2009 10:39PM
Yeah! I don't care what the idiot masses of the internet think!
So maybe I should go tell them..... on the internet....

Zemus101 @ Oct 7th 2009 8:21PM
Breath of Fire III please? Even the fourth one would be nice, I never played that one. I agree with the comment somewhere above about Megaman X, even though it's an snes title, would be sweet to be able to play that (or any of the ps1 titles for that matter) on my psp via a download.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:23PM
Maverick Hunter X is a very competent remake of MMX. I'd recommend it.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:36PM
Also, BOF III is a wonderful game.
rtrosper22 @ Oct 8th 2009 6:50AM
I case you didn't know BOFIII did come out on UMD... but it was only in Europe. I got mine new from a seller on the Amazon marketplace who had acquired a number of them. Actually, I just checked and there are 5 for sale, starting at $27.95
Levi @ Oct 8th 2009 10:54AM
Maverick Hunter X doesn't replace MMX, but it is good. They redid the Sigma stages, so you do have something new to play through, though I admit I don't think they're as good as the original X Sigma stages.
lnternetjesus @ Oct 7th 2009 8:24PM
Enjoy having 3 year old games piecemealed out to you.
This is exactly why digital distribution is bad for the consumer.
Whoever came up with PSN Thursday shouldn't have a job
Double J @ Oct 7th 2009 8:36PM
That's good, I never got to play Megaman Powered Up during my previous PSP owning days. Now that I own a Go, I'll finally get off my lazy ass and buy it. And by get up off of my lazy ass, I mean sitting in a heap on a chair and download it.
EncodedNybble @ Oct 7th 2009 8:40PM
Maybe I didn't read it clearly...but when were those dated? Blog post was removed, anyone know the dates?
DangerMouse @ Oct 7th 2009 8:41PM
At least the lack of load times in Darkstalkers is definitely a plus.
Bane @ Oct 7th 2009 8:42PM
Seriously, what's the point of downvoting?
[Tre (TM), who is forever confused] [blogs at trespeak.tumblr.com] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:47PM
Let's see... IT BLANKS OUT STUPID CRAP PEOPLE POST.
Not that hard to figure out, considering that it happens to all the trolls and the idiots.
(I'll leave you to find out which category you fall in.)
Reuben @ Oct 7th 2009 8:51PM
Oh, come the hell on. Like you had no idea what you were doing?
[ArchiGamer] [80% ENTERTAINMENT BY VOLUME] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:58PM
So I don't get to see your abortions of comments.
Frostblade10 @ Oct 7th 2009 8:43PM
Oh sorry, I need to get my shit straight.
I got tired of Chrono Trigger in the castle after the fair.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:50PM
You crazy. I'd actually probably put MMX in my top 5 SNES games.
Reuben @ Oct 7th 2009 8:52PM
I actually got tired of Chrono Trigger as well. I only played the DS remake, so maybe it's just one of those games where you needed to be there when it happened.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 7th 2009 8:55PM
Reuben, I think you're exactly right. I was 8 when CT came out and I spent hours trying to beat that motherfucker.
Frostblade10 @ Oct 7th 2009 9:34PM
I agree. I spent 9 hours playing Mario RPG the first day it came out.
cylet @ Oct 7th 2009 8:44PM
When Capcom says "coming very soon" they mean in 7 months to 8 years.
Lurkero @ Oct 7th 2009 8:58PM
Powered Up and Maverick are good, but I don't think Capcom should charge over $10 for them. The amount they could sell at that price is much better than what it would be at $15+
Level 5 @ Oct 8th 2009 7:32AM
I think $10 is a little slim really. MHX was a competent remake what with the Day of Sigma and a few new bonuses but MM Powered Up really went above and beyond. Making the bosses playable, challenge modes, level editor, etc, etc. I'd honestly say MMPU is probably the most complete MM experience on any system; worth more than $10 IMO.
fohf @ Oct 8th 2009 11:57AM
Agreed. I bought MMX from Target 2 years ago for $11. Not on sale or clearance, just $11. So if Sony can't even come close to matching a price from 2 years ago what is the point of the digital download?
Jerel @ Oct 7th 2009 11:23PM
I hope they release Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 on the PSN... They released them on UMD in Japan, but they never released them here. :(
Zemus101 @ Oct 7th 2009 9:22PM
Oh really, I shoulda known that actually >< I kinda overlooked that title for some reason. Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely take a look.
1251 @ Oct 7th 2009 9:37PM
Even though DC and RE aren't on the agenda- I'm definitely buying Megaman X
emperorzeroxx @ Oct 7th 2009 11:51PM
I'm really craving for some dino crisis and resident evil 2! Come on Capcom you know October is the PERFECT month for survival horrors!
karmaghost @ Oct 7th 2009 11:10PM
Capcom has made things easy for me over the past few years; anything with its name associated with it is an instant "DO NOT FUCKING BUY." Thanks Capcom.
CrissCross87 @ Oct 7th 2009 11:27PM
Being that I tend to be cursed... well too rough for UMD discs, I am pretty happy for the move to digital and rounding up my remaining UMDs that work and trading them in for cards. I think Sony has a better pricing structure when it comes to Downloadable games compared to Nintendo's Wii/DS store.
I know the argument could be made that it would be much cheaper to just Memory stick duos and just ignoring the UMD drive on classic PSPs, but I just want to upgrade my hardware, and of course I will be waiting for PSP GO to be on sale in November(Black Friday).
In relation to this post though, Can't wait to rebuy MegaMan:Powered Up, Hopefully created content will still be nice post-LBP PSP.
Ashitaka @ Oct 8th 2009 7:17AM
Keep milking Megaman. Seriously, there are some franchises that should just DIE.
Nobledevil @ Oct 8th 2009 9:43AM
Those Megaman games were hella fun, so hopefully they come out a a decent price for more folks to enjoy them. That Street Fighter better come out at like $9.99, too, seeing as how the PS1 classics from that same series are $6.99.
