Don't watch this Brutal Legend video

We're going to put this up front: There's really no reason to watch these Brütal Legend videos. They were shot during a press event at the Key Club in Hollywood, during which Jack Black dressed up as -- and pretended to be -- the game's protagonist, Eddie Riggs. The videos are unequivocally groan-inducing affairs. We're sure that the idea seemed funny at the time, but it falls pretty flat in execution. It's like watching bad improv, which, we suppose, is exactly what it is.

There are a few notable tidbits in here, like Tim Schafer explaining that he didn't have the nerve to approach Jack Black for the project until he found out Black was a Psychonauts fan. Still, that one nugget -- which we've heard before -- will cost you five minutes of awful. For the truly masochistic, two more videos can be found after the break, one of Tim Schafer interviewing Jack Black, and another of Black playing Brütal Legend.

Don't worry I can fix this problem. Take out Jack Black and replace him with a mannequin dressed like the character. Everyone knows a mannequin's funnier than Black.

anybody who find Jack Black remotely funny is a ass hat. I don't care downvote me but you're all ass hats.

He plays the same character in every movie, he does his annoying "Doo Lee Dooo Lee Dooo Dooo" sounds every fucking chance he gets and Tenacious D was good for about a week, then it just because the same pile of turd. Playing Eddie Riggs is prob the best thing to happen to him since School of Rock

I know!! it was like he didn't even remember what game he just worked on! in the game eddie sounds just like jack black. Maybe jack just said "hmmm the character has big muscles and is hardcore metal, he prolly sounds like this"

Yes, but Uncharted is overrated mess. Enjoy standing behind the same chest-high walls and shooting the same three goons who mysteriously appear in 'locked and inaccessible ancient ruins', with the same four guns, for a couple hours.

Well he does have a point, it did bother me that even though these ruins were so isolated and not touched for centuries, and you were the first to find them and solve the puzzles, enemies would still show up in areas that were otherwise inaccessible.

For the most part they made it make sense, but there were definitely a few places where enemies would show up and it just made me think "how the hell did you get down here!?"

The bad jokes go on for soooo long, oh man, when he "jokes" about not seeing his penis anymore and he pulls his pants down.. wow.. that was so desperate and pathetic. And I really like Jack Black in his movies, probably he just can't improv that well.

Generally speaking, I like Jack Black. I was even really excited about Brutal Legend. I have it preordered and it's already fully paid for, but to be honest, that video made me lose confidence in the game. I may have to wait a few days to see what people are saying about it before I pick it up now.

This is the classic example of trying too hard. Brutal Legend's ad campaign was doing fine until they started to push too hard for the character. Jack Black and Tim Schafer are great personalities without pretending to be something else.

They should have just had an honest sitdown and let the banter between them roll naturally

i really enjoyed the demo...was fun and made me laugh out loud, which i don't think any videogame has done before. i wasn't interested at all before the demo, but now i'm defnly picking it up.
