Forza 3 offers exclusive DLC to those who buy new
69
Turn 10 doesn't want you camping out at the GameStop and waiting for the first trade-in of Forza 3. Microsoft has announced launch-day incentives in the form of exclusive DLC, packed in for new purchasers. Those who acquire Forza 3 new will get access to two extra race tracks, Benchmark High Speed Ring and Sidewinder Proving Grounds, as well as the Legends Car Pack, a bundle of 10 classic automobiles.

You can't just make up quotes like that. How in the world is it overpriced anyway? Do you know how much money games like this cost to make? Sure if you knew exactly how many copies the game would move you could adjust, but the fact is that games are a risky business. Just look at mirrors edge.

Pay more, get more. How can you really complain about that?

So...does that Aston Martin come with an ejector seat and machine guns?

How about my friend buys it, then downloads the DLC, then I put in the disk in My 360 and download the DLC and pick up the game later.
Or is it a code?

This sounds like a damned good idea to me. Down with Gamestop's used game thievery.

it's only thievery to those that sell their games

THAT'S THE STUPIDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD! First segregated Silver and Gold Memberships. (Having to pay 50/yr to play online.) And now, you get screwed over if you don't buy the game at launch. Yawn. Gran Turismo 5 here I come.

If developers don't like the used game market, then change your EULA and make reselling the game illegal. Don't force your customers to jump through hoops because you're scared of GameStop.
Although I'm not interested in this game, if I was, I would buy this used just to stick it to Microsoft.

they would never be able to make it illegal, when you buy the game it's yours, you can do whatever you want with it, their only solution is to make all their games as digital downloads, which is where the next generation is goin. with a digital download you don't own the game, your basically renting the game.

No, it's not yours - you have simply acquired a license to retain a copy of it and to use the software. You can't, for example, make copies of the game and sell it to others.
For example, if you purchase an OEM copy of Windows, you are only allowed to install it on one computer and, even if you fully uninstall it, you're not allowed to transfer it to another computer. So, yes, Microsoft could change the EULA of their games and, if GameStop tries to sell a used copy of it, Microsoft could sue GameStop out of existence. Or, for that matter, the person who bought the game. Of course, doing so would be suicide, so they don't.

I have mixed feelings. I never buy used because I don't feel the price difference good enough to justify the trouble (I've gotten discs which lock up sometimes). I only buy used when there is a super deal on used titles (50% sale or something similar). However, I don't like the concept of this. Makes me want to boycott this game altogether because I don't want this trend to continue.

1. I dont like this DLC pre-order & limited-edition-only trend, if i buy a game as original i want to OWN the FULL THING. I dont BUY a game because of the nice green DVD-Case!!!
2. In germany (dont know where you live) i pay 65 EUR for a NEW game and like 20 - 35 EUR for a used one, like a month or two later. So don't tell me shit about only a 5$ diffrence.
The SAME Games get sold at the same time for 40 - 45 EUR for PC!
There you have why console Games are overpriced.
Finally there will be DLC later on (which is good) but will cost EUR again (which sucks). I remember times when stuff like that was free or came as an Add On... on a DISC (which i was able to sell again!).
3. What would keep people from buying the game at launchdate, punching in the codes and selling it again while using a burned Disc instead? Just for fun i will watch ebay for Limited Editions which get sold without codes in the first days after release ;P
