my 1st non text-only game was Myst on my mom's work Mac. I was so jealous my buddy had a PC and could play Doom whenever he wanted.

But I got Marathon and it was on from there =)

If it's anything like the pc game then you can beat the entire game with this demo.. you don't need to go to the ages.. :)

Technically, you need to travel to one age (D'ni) to beat the game.

I wonder if you could use this as a backdoor to make other Hypercard programs work on the iPhone...

I wish 7th Guest would get the same treatment... Or any treatment for that matter.

I wonder, since completing the game doesn't actually require you to go to any of the other ages once you know where everything is, if you can beat it in the demo.

Probably not. You still need to travel to one age (D'ni) to beat the game. You can get pretty close though.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up Alexander. I wanted Myst on my iPod Touch badly but refused to pay for something that I didn't know the quality of (in terms of porting it to the iPod).

Of course they don't allow upgradeable demos because that would mean they couldn't inflate their numbers when talking about how many free games the iphone has.

It's kinda sickening really when you think about the poor people who don't do research like most of my family members.

Remember when Myst's graphics were way beyond anything games could dream of doing real-time? It would be so hard to do that now.

FYI Joystiq, the full version of the game has been brought down to a tad over 530 megabytes now. Its still huge compared to other iPhone games, but it's less huge than it used to be.

For everyone who has pointed out that you can win without going anywhere but D'ni, I can confirm that in the demo you get a dialog box that stops you from accessing the "Secret Fireplace" if you correctly type in the code on the metal plate.
