LostWinds sequel to be Europe's 100th WiiWare game this Friday

In North America, Bit.Trip: CORE was the hundredth WiiWare release. Today, Frontier Developments announced that LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias will receive that honor in Europe -- which also happens to mean the game will be out tomorrow! As the sequel to the standout WiiWare launch title, Winter of the Melodias is a good choice for the spot, although we don't discount the possibility that it just happened to work out that way.

Winter of the Melodias includes a new cyclone ability and a mechanic that allows main character Toku to change the environment from summer to winter and back instantly; in turn manipulating bodies of water or even clouds. We hope Frontier and Nintendo don't wait until it's actually winter to give Americans the chance to play it.

I wish Frontier would remake DarXide. It's too hard to get in the US.

And for a downloadable title those graphics look impressive.

I would kill a baby hippo for this game NOW! The first one is one of the best games on Wii hands down, and one of the most original and fun games I have played....period. LOST WINDS RULES!

I enjoyed the first, it was pretty and had a great concept. For me, the host system let it down - the controls on most pointer games were finicky for me, no matter how much I tried calibrate them.

If you have a Wii (I sold mine), please make sure this sells well.

This and the next Zelda game are the only reasons I still have my Wii.

Truly loved the first one and I can't wait to proudly plop down my 10 bucks for the follow-up.

NO NO NO NO NO!!! Crap!

I had planned a weekend of studying. Damn you Nintendo and your cruel timing. I guess I could take a few hours out for this, but then do I have enough points (I guess I could see if they refund me the internet channel points) and do I have to install the latest update to get this cause I don't want my Wii dying.

The first game was very good - yeah, it wasn't the second coming, like some people seemed to think, but it was a nice, really high quality platform game that was short (as you'd expect from WiiWare) but perfectly long enough for the price.

I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel; unfortunately I have a US Wii so I'll have to wait a bit longer. Hey, maybe I'll re-download the original (I deleted it back in pre-SD-card days) and play through that again first.
