After yesterday's full-fledged assault on mainstream gaming news coverage, we were refreshed to read this great USA Today report on the current state of the Halo franchise. Sure, it further promotes the tired opinion that Bungie's ever-popular shooter is set to overtake the Star Wars franchise in the cultural marketplace. However, it backs up that assertion with startling figures: According to the report, Halo 3: ODST has sold 2.5 million units in the past two weeks, bringing the total sales for the entire franchise up to a cool 27 million.
Additionally, USA Today further supports its thesis by compiling a list of the future franchise spin-offs, including -- *deep breath* -- Halo: Reach, the Halo: Blood Line comic series, Halo Legends, Halo Waypoint, the Halo: Evolutions novel (and another heretofore unnamed book trilogy), and more McFarlane toys. Some may accuse this franchise of succumbing to over-saturation -- we think it crossed that bridge around the time it got its own Mountain Dew.

Cody, take your impotence problems to WebMD or something. No one here wants to hear about how you can't attract or satisfy a woman...

Halo is far from milked. It will be when we have Super Halo World Sunshine Kart Kombat Racing, but until then, it is a successful franchise.
Although I found ODST to be lackluster. In fact, it's the worst Halo game IMO.

no staying power? Wii Sports is going to be in 25 years what the original Super Mario Bros is today, that one game that everyone remembers playing

I am surprised for two reasons. How many it sold and the fact that this game wasn't this media blitz that Halo 3 got.
Either way this game is only for the hardcore Halo fan. I like it but not as a single play exp but more as a co-op and multiplayer game. The single play story was just flat in my opinion. But I had alot of fun playing with my friends online.

Thinking of selling my copy of ODST on Ebay, it was fun while it lasted.
But I need money for the Modern Warfare Prestige edition. :p

Remember! You must have the game to get into the Reach Beta.
I wasnt that impressed with ODST, but it was still fun for a little while. Gotta hold onto it though, because I want in on Reach!

assuming ODST sold 2.5 million copies at $60 a piece, that equals $150,000,000. but the post says that the halo franchise has not been brought up "to a cool $27 million."

nvm i thought it meant 27 million dollars not copies. =D

Wow, I guess it's true.
Put the Halo name on a bad game, and it will sell.

I for one enjoyed the fuck out of ODST. Playing the game on Heroic my first time through, and taking my sweet ass time doing it, it took me over 10 hours to beat the campaign. Firefight is a blast too. Add in 3 new Halo 3 MP maps, and the REACH beta, and yeah, Ive spent $60 on worse things.

Mario games sell whether or not they are the worst games in existense or the best...also, you're wrong...where's this bad game?
I'm sick of people complaining about the length of the game...I'm pretty sure it ended up being a longer campaign than COD4 and people shit themselves with joy whenever that game is mentioned...yet they never, ever mention the length of it's campaign like they do with ODST.

I agree that the franchise is getting milked into oblivion.... but Halo 3, ODST, and Wars were damn fine games.

Halo 3 ODST Firefight Finder
http://firefightfinder.com
How It Works:
There will be 2 ways to find Matches
1. Create/Join a Match
2. Now Playing
Create/Join a Match
This is more of a plan ahead type approach. Select a Start Date/Time, End Date/Time, as well as the options for the game(Mission,Difficulty, etc)
You can Browse through lists of various Matches people have created and Join in. Joining the Match via the Website simply says "Hey I wanna play" which will give the host and everyone else a good idea on how many people are going to play. You will then need to send the Host a Xbox Live Message and/or Friend Request. Which can all be done via the Website or your 360.
Now Playing
This will list which of our Members are Playing ODST on Xbox Live right now. Say you are a Member, but didn't create a Match on our site. You will still show up in Now Playing if you are Playing ODST on Xbox Live. To Join Now Playing Matches simply send the Host a Xbox Live Message and/or Friends Request. Which again can be done via our site or on your 360.
When is the Launch?
It's very close to being Launched and if all goes as planned it will happen this weekend
P.S. If there is an issue with me posting a link to my website and it gets removed. PM me and I'll give you the Link
