Everything is improved with waggle. It's a fact. Scientifically proven. And yet, Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino has still seen fit to crush everyone's hopes of a waggle-infused Professor Layton. Hino told Official Nintendo Magazine that the upcoming Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel will conclude the trilogy, though it will soon be followed by the first episode of a new trilogy, entitled Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny. That's wonderful, and we're sure handheld puzzle enthusiasts will be thrilled, but Hino notes -- probably followed by a cruel, derisive laugh -- that there are currently "no plans for a Wii release."
Frankly, we're shocked at the revelation, as a Wii release of Professor Layton seems like the mannerly, logical thing to do. We're sure the world-famous Hershel Layton would agree.

That is a bit odd. They must have market surveys saying it wouldn't do well.

Is that the same survey saying we want more WWII shooters?

I want a shooter that heads away from first person, a third person shooter that incorporates lots of commands to give an RTS aspect to a game making it more like commanding a unit rather then just point and click and run and click and hide.

Uhh, I don't think so.

I'm pretty sure I disagree. Being able to make progress in five minute chunks makes Layton the perfect portable game. Hershel Layton is a charming gent, to be sure, but if I had to sit down in front of my TV to untangle his game, I'd be far less into it.
Maybe it's just me, but this whole 'make our portable games on consoles!' is a tenancy that's just as bad as when it goes the other way. Professor Layton is a DS game, and it should always be a DS (or DS2 or whatever) game.

although really, the pokemon titles staying on handhelds has always been somewhat of an anomaly, as it's been a console-quality title from the beginning. Somehow, though, they managed to mess up the console iterations by messing around with the formula in ways it shouldn't have been messed with (I'm looking at you, Shadow Pokemon). If you literally ported Diamond and Pearl to the Wii, with no waggle, just updated visuals, it'd do really well.
With the DSi, you could even have an app which would let you carry around all your pokemon and let you battle them against other friends with their DSis, as well as trading and *shudder* fashion competitions, so you still retain the social aspect which is pretty important in the Pokemon games.
But... I'm getting really off topic here, aren't I?

I agree with everything that's been said so far; Professor Layton is a point-and-click, not a point-and-waggle.

He says that only to divert your attention and crush your hopes. When in fact he really does have plans for a Wii release.
He's a trickster.

Hmm...on the one hand, a Wii version with longer, more frequent cut scenes would be really cool (and I usually HATE cut scenes!).
On the other hand, as someone else noted, Layton is great on the DS because it can be played in such small chunks. They'd have to probably alter the gameplay kinda drastically, like making it in 3D or something a la Zack & Wiki at least, to make it fit properly on the Wii.
