You know those neighbors you have? The ones with fake deer, flamingos and gnomes all over their yard? This is for them. More specifically, it's to utterly petrify them with abject terror. Have no fear though, for the piranha plant you see above is not real, but rather a sculpture created by one Jaime Margary. We suggest you check out Margary's Flickr account for a closer look at the piece, which is also accompanied by a baby piranha plant (and a dog that is entirely too calm about he whole situation).
And yes, the sculpture will be up for sale on eBay soon. Throw on a motion-activated flamethrower and you'll have the nerdiest home security system ever devised. Watch a step-by-step video of the sculpture's creation after the break.
Oh... Wow. The eBay bid will probably be way over my budget though, well, and I don't have a yard to put it in. Anyways, this thing definitely need to be mass produced.
Somebody call Nintendo and tell them to get to work on making this official. Wow that sculpture, I would rather buy that and put that in my yard then play some of the stuff that is coming out on Wii. This is how you expand the market!
The creator consistently talks about the plant as being a female... Now, I know plants have do genders but I'd love to find out how one can determine whether or not your Piranha Plant is a male or female. My guess is that after the "inspection" you won't exactly be shaking hands with anybody...
I thought the SMB2 remixed theme was as awesome as the sculpture. :) I think that soundtrack...SMB2...is one of the more unfortunately forgotten Mario soundtracks, as I always thought the tunes were pretty catchy. Best of the soundtracks has to go to SMG, though...that's just an amazing soundtrack I wish I had on CD.
