Uncharted 2 demo stats suggest plundering is addictive

The Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer demo has only been out for a week, but it's already attracted a large following of money-hungry murderers. Evan Wells of developer Naughty Dog has posted up some compelling (non-beta) stats:

Total Number of games played: 1,217,424
Total Number of Kills: 92,110,787
Total Number of Treasures Captured: 1,860,645
Total Amount of Money Earned: $38,841,367,350
Total Time Played: 9,905 days (or 27+ years!)

It'll be interesting to see these figures compared to those numbers produced by the retail game -- launching next week -- after its first seven days in service. Uncharted 2 has already become a critical favorite, and soon we'll see if Naughty Dog's game can convert all that in-game "money earned" into real-world doubloons ... Although, $38 billion in sales does seem a bit unrealistic.

They are going to obviously be lower lol.
Most people will be playing the single player before they play the multiplayer, and this multiplayer demo was free so the numbers would be lower anyway.

True. However people can only play a demo for so long. if this game sales as good as it should, i dont see why the numbers wont be bigger. i can see this game having a "Halo like" following with the way this multiplayer experience is.

Those figures are impressive, but can't really be judged until we see some real numbers, as the article suggests. That's a lot of money regardless.

Nathan Drake: making men climax 130% earlier all around the world!

i play the beta at least 2 hours a day, and i play co-op arena about 45 minutes of those 2 hours... yet i still can't seem to get enough.

The way the USD exchange rate is going maybe 38$ billion isn't so impossible :) Just need to sell well in the rest of the world

I wonder if we can somehow get the 38 billion from the game to help pay for our national debt.

I say the US government should put out a public service announcement encouraging people to buy the game... Everyone wins!

You can't compare the first week of the full game to the first week of this can you?
I don't think anyone would go straight to the multiplayer instead of playing the single player through at least once so it wouldn't be a fair comparison.

i am. straight to multi player to feast on all the newbies playing to get my rank up really quick. going to be fun.

I have had the beta since gamestop sent me the code and have not been able to get online. I always get the error initializing session manager, it sucks the first beta was awesome and this is one online experience I truly enjoy.

There is nothing like a round of Plunder in the Ice Caves with good teammates. I don't know why this game is so addictive but thanks a lot Naughty Dog. Unless you have experienced vaulting off of a cliff, taking out an opponent with the fisticuffs, grenading two opponents trying to score and then grabbing the treasure tossing it to a teammate who is witnessing all of your awesomness first hand, you aint experienced nothing.

In all seriousness though it is fun as hell. I never would have thought that the highlight of my day after work and the family is in bed is playing two multiplayer betas (MAG & U2).

Agreed. Sony have been really good to us lately with these free betas.

one would think those number will jump, I mean I know plenty of people will play the single player first and then jump into the MP but there is no telling what people will do, I know I am jumping into Single Player first going hard in that for 10 hours straight then multiplayer, if they keep the leveling system the same way I will most likely jump to level 15 in like 3-5 matches anyways...it took me a week in the first beta to hit 30

The beta is addictive as hell and the crazy part is that it's only a sliver of what the full retail game offers. Between this and MW2 my PS3 has its work cut out for it. Hopefully my Ps3 won't asplode from all the awesome.

That free demo has more content than many of the PSN games I paid for.

I had an extremely hard time enjoying the beta (but I don't like multiplayer anyway), but I'm still looking forward to the single player next week. Somehow, I've managed to endure the countless media and fanboy splooging over this game without hating it yet.

Judging something based on how much other people like it or don't like it is no way to live. Plus the rest of the world will just think you're negative.

Let me rephrase that though. I don't hate a game that gets too much good buzz, I start to hate it when people, specially the fanboys here, take it way too far and downvote anyone or criticize anyone who's not splooging all over it with every fiber of their being.

Honestly tmacairjordan87, most of the people who have been downvoted were saying stupid shit like, "meh," or "looks boring" without explaining their position.
