GTA IV, Dead Space coming to Xbox 360 Games on Demand this month
The Xbox 360's Games on Demand service is getting quite the booster shot this month, as Microsoft has announced six new titles coming to the service in October. The festivities kicked off earlier this week with the release of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Call of Duty 3. Here's what the rest of this month has in store:
October 13
October 20
October 27
There's no word on price for any of these titles right now, so we've checked with Microsoft and will be sure to update you when we hear back.

Oh great. Now we can pay $10-15 more than retail for the "convenience" of DRM.
MS has no idea how DD works. Look at Steam please.
Sean @ Oct 9th 2009 11:06AM
Ummm
Isn;t Steam a form of DRM?
R (Planeteers | Power of Penile Pulse) @ Oct 9th 2009 11:23AM
Dont like it? Dont buy it.
Believe it or not, some people actually do have the kind of income that they dont care to save $5-10 buy picking up a used copy at a game store. Some people can actually sit back and say "you know, Ill buy this so I dont have to worry about losing or damaging my disk."
Games on demand is for those kinds of people. By all means, if you dont like it, don't by it. MS isnt forcing it upon you.
Space @ Oct 9th 2009 11:34AM
WHY CAN'T I GET A DIGITAL COPY O LY DISC FOR FREE?! MICROSOFT IS SCREWING UP!!! I BOUGHT MY UMD'S, I AM ENTITLED TO FREE DIGITAL COPIES!!!!......oh..........wait.......
ducttapeBigSexy (PSN&XBL: ducttape12) @ Oct 9th 2009 11:43AM
@R
By that logic, if you have disposable income, then you wouldn't care if you had to buy a second copy.
Also, it's really not hard to keep games from getting lost or scratched - when you're done playing, put it back in its case and on the shelf. There's a reason games come in jewel cases and not a box of diamond shards.
Cj @ Oct 9th 2009 11:51AM
When I mentioned Steam I meant their price point.
Captain Planet [Planeteer | Power of Captain Planet] @ Oct 9th 2009 11:55AM
$5 - $10 more than retail? Proof?
Cj @ Oct 9th 2009 12:14PM
Go on the Marketplace and look at the games, search Google for the same games, and whala.
phinnvr6 @ Oct 9th 2009 1:36PM
Yea Besides, I was looking for Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, and Ratchet & Clank A Crack in Time on that list but didn't see any of them. Guess 360 is useless to me right now as it has been for some time lately.
Kodros @ Oct 9th 2009 1:51PM
"Go on the Marketplace and look at the games, search Google for the same games, and whala. "
So, you want the Marketplace to always be the lowest price? Yeah, that would work out well...
Edicius @ Oct 9th 2009 2:25PM
"So, you want the Marketplace to always be the lowest price? Yeah, that would work out well..."
works for wal-mart
MarkHawk @ Oct 9th 2009 2:28PM
(Digital copy with the game wouldn't work. People would just sell the game adter they got the DLC code.)
So it's 2am on a Friday and I want to buy a new game to play for the night. Dead Space seems like a great choice. F-it let's say I want Battlefield Bad company because my friends are playing.
Alright so I can download it right now for 19.99 or drive out to a Wal-Mart and pick it up for 18.82. But it's Friday, I don't want to be driving when I could just start cooking myself a burger while the game downloads.
So in the end I didn't need to buy gas, I got to eat a sweet burger, put money straight towards the developers, oh and I got a fucking game delivered to my house almost instantly!
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 9th 2009 3:51PM
straight to the developers? No way
Kodros @ Oct 9th 2009 6:16PM
"works for wal-mart"
That's not the same thing at all. If MS sells their games on their site for cheaper then any retail store, very few retail stores are going to let MS put product on their shelves. Wal-Mart simply sells products, they have no reason to worry about getting their products into Target or Best Buy because that's not what they do.
iamnotafish @ Oct 9th 2009 10:08AM
I had a ton of fun playing through Army of Two with my cousin. Sure, its ridiculous, and pimping your gun is the epitome of ridiculousness, but man is it ever entertaining.
I still haven't played through Dead Space though. I'm thinking I'll need to do that in the middle of the day to avoid freaking out.
NOOK @ Oct 9th 2009 10:17AM
Army of Two is just awesome. I played through it with my brother like 3 or 4 times and I can't wait for the 40th day!
iamnotafish @ Oct 9th 2009 10:18AM
Best line ever said in a video game:
"Survey says: You're dead"
dabilee01 @ Oct 9th 2009 10:15AM
hmm...maybe this is why dead space has gone on sale for $19.99 or less.
ChomskyKnows @ Oct 9th 2009 10:27AM
Dead Space = awesome
FNG @ Oct 9th 2009 1:50PM
all you saying how great dead space is has caused me to add it to my gamefly que. thanks!
MarkHawk @ Oct 9th 2009 2:32PM
Agreed, I hope it's not 29.99. Any price point lower and I'm sold. I played it last October for 5 days straight. It was pretty amazing and something I want to do again this year.
343 Guilty Fart @ Oct 9th 2009 2:55PM
I just picked it up from Best Buy earlier this week for $20 new.
Space @ Oct 9th 2009 10:31AM
I just sold GTA4 for the second time...I will not be giving that game a third chance. What a boring game!
ducttapeBigSexy (PSN&XBL: ducttape12) @ Oct 9th 2009 11:46AM
You should check out Saints Row 2 - all the fun they forget to include in GTA IV ended up in SR2.
No, it doesn't have the same deep character development as GTA IV, but you can drive a sewage truck around and spray pedestrians with poop.
ybfelix @ Oct 9th 2009 1:08PM
I'm still bitter. They create a whole fricking city and they then slice it up for linear missions and nothing to do on its own?
MarkHawk @ Oct 9th 2009 2:35PM
Kind of wish the took the fallout approach and just started to create amazing scenarios. Zombie Outbreak, Tank Battles in Downtown Manhattan, Snow...
I do like the smaller campaigns though. Would much rather play through 3 of those then 1 of Niko's scale. Loved Niko's story till his cousins apartment burned down. To bad that was about 3 hours in.
Maulok @ Oct 9th 2009 10:34AM
C'mon, people, if you haven't already done so, buy Dead Space! It's terrific!
JUNG GUNS @ Oct 9th 2009 12:08PM
that's it. i'm buying it. Are the achievements hard to get?
Benjamin Heckendorn @ Oct 9th 2009 11:02AM
Indeed. Dead Space = Bioshock meets Alien = Win.
Jerk Face @ Oct 9th 2009 10:56AM
I'd say Dead Space is the best horror game ever made (hint: it is), but then I'd have 1000 horribly misguided Resident Evil and Silent Hill kids after me.
Space @ Oct 9th 2009 11:07AM
the student has become the master. just say it. dead space is better than resident evil.
Jerk Face @ Oct 9th 2009 11:10AM
Okay... here goes..
DEAD SPACE IS BETTER THAN RESIDENT EVIL!
It is! God damn it, it is! It's scary without artificially limiting what you can do in the game just to MAKE it scary! The freedom to move and shoot and ALSO get scared by horrific monsters! And a story that isn't convoluted and stupid!
"Oh no, Wesker's arms are really super long and weird! Better shoot him with fifteen rockets so he finally dies and falls in this volcano!"
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Fuck Resident Evil.
I would be Dead Space's boyfriend, were that somehow possible.
Space @ Oct 9th 2009 11:22AM
I would've done it with out the spoilers but ok, you're excited, lots of emotions are flowing.... let it all out!
Jerk Face @ Oct 9th 2009 11:24AM
Oh, you're right:
SPOILER ALERT - RESIDENT EVIL 5 IS DUMB AND YOU SHOULD NEVER PLAY IT EVER.
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Oct 9th 2009 1:22PM
In Dead Space, you destroy large rocks by blasting them with a mining weapon.
In Resident Evil 5, you destroy large rocks by PUNCHING THEM.
Case closed.
Jerk Face @ Oct 9th 2009 2:29PM
Ha ha.. True. You make a compelling argument!
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 9th 2009 11:00AM
Yep, I'm sure there's a lot of demand for Sonic Unleashed...
Demaar @ Oct 9th 2009 11:02AM
Sandbox games are exactly the type of games I want to see for download. They should be available at a few button presses, not requiring a disc swap.
Of course, if Rock Band 2 was available for GOD, I'd probably play a few other games besides it from time to time since the disc tray would be free :P
Space @ Oct 9th 2009 11:09AM
available for god? well there was just a post about how motorhead is going to be in rock band.
airheads anyone?
Bunny Xbox @ Oct 9th 2009 11:22AM
Niko is a deadman
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 9th 2009 11:48AM
Figures right after I buy GTA 4 and get dead space from gamefly today, I even paid like $25 used for gta 4 so I would have paid the $30 it will likely cost to download it.
Roger @ Oct 9th 2009 11:56AM
This is a bad move. Anyone who has installed GTA 4 onto their HDD has seen its one of the worst things you can do. It increases pop-up and loads the city much slower.
Buying it without knowing this is just gonna end up screwing you over.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 9th 2009 12:29PM
It doesn't for me.
Henry @ Oct 9th 2009 1:05PM
Installing GTA-IV has dramatically reduced load times and pop-up problems for me.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 9th 2009 5:31PM
Actually, I shared Roger's experience with GTA IV. BUT, that was before I installed some of the updates, and on the disc it played great so that doesn't really account for anything. Also, GTA IV is probably optimized to be read from the HD, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Roger @ Oct 9th 2009 5:41PM
...I really hate when even being serious; I still get commented down.
When TLAD DLC came out; I realized that GTA 4 was much faster on the 360 then the ps3. However after installing it on my 20 gig hard drive [nothing else on there I mind you]; it loaded very poorly and had pop-up that a blind man would notice.
I'm not bashing the system; just the HDD install for GTA 4 was not the best in existence.
Guibs @ Oct 9th 2009 11:57AM
Releasing Dead Space just in time for the Halloween. Clever.
Man, Deadspace is such an amazing game. It was my game of the year when it was released. So much better than anything like it out there. If you like suspence/horror games please do yourself a favor and buy this game. The story was great, the ambience was amazing. Damn I'm typing this and I want to play it again... Just need to make sure I have extra pairs of shorts... the last ones are all wet and smelling bad..
Space @ Oct 9th 2009 11:58AM
"No, it doesn't have the same deep character development as GTA IV, but you can drive a sewage truck around and spray pedestrians with poop."
haha, statement of the day!
firelord @ Oct 9th 2009 11:59AM
How long until they start renting their Games On Demand library? Money, money, money!
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Oct 9th 2009 1:24PM
Seriously that wouldn't be a bad idea. Cheevo whores would slurp it up. Well, for an extra 50gs they would.
