Is that a PSP Go? Nope, it's a PSP Faux
Look, China -- we need to have a talk. We know you're back up to your old tricks again, trying to sell people knock-offs of Sony's new PSP Go handheld. We thought you learned your lesson last time? You had made all of these promises, told us how you were going to get your life back on track and now we have to find out about your Slide Panel Retro from some website? Where's the communication? We don't care if the thing has 4GB of space, a built-in camera, mp3 player and emulation software, it's just not right! To say we're disappointed would be an understatement.
So, here's what we're going to do: We're cutting you off. No more joyriding in the Jag or going down to Toshi Station to waste time with your friends. This is it, we're washing our hands of you . Do what you want, we won't be responsible anymore.

But it has a camera- therefore it can't be a great gaming device. Sorry, PXP maybe next generation.
Stevetrop @ Oct 9th 2009 12:49AM
It doesn't matter so long as they can get one sale they can claim victory!
Purchase your P5Pgo Now!
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 9th 2009 12:04AM
Not a bad knockoff.
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 9th 2009 12:05AM
And only 85? Very reasonable. Now you can fool people into thinking you bought a Go, and have a crappy MP3 player!
willooi @ Oct 9th 2009 12:05AM
credit where it's due, that's a quality fake
Adv2k1 @ Oct 9th 2009 12:17AM
you never know. go to walmart you might see it.
I see fake wii's at Walgreens and CVS all the time.
willooi @ Oct 9th 2009 12:24AM
I saw a fake 360 once saying it had 20gb capacity, but it was really more like 12. Oh wait, that's MY 360 =p
*I'm no PS3 fanboy, this is just a self-deprecating dig at myself*
Big D. @ Oct 9th 2009 1:03AM
LOL I work for Walgreens, those fake Wii's were such a joke and people actually bought them!
S. Tiger @ Oct 9th 2009 6:59AM
Walgreens sold fakes of consumer electronics?
S. Tiger @ Oct 9th 2009 12:12AM
I thought the UK was bad with knockoffs...
Why do I never see things like this in the US?
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 9th 2009 12:15AM
They're here, just not very prevalent. We usually don't let guys set up a table on the street where you typically find this stuff.
S. Tiger @ Oct 9th 2009 4:59AM
Ooooh, Back-Alley Bargains. I see.
Actually, I've seen some stuff similar to iPods (And obvious fakes) sold at a convenience store near my college campus. I'm wondering if it's because Texas is close to Mexico...hm...
zenaxe @ Oct 9th 2009 12:06PM
Because our corporate master do not allow such shenanigans.
Michael @ Oct 9th 2009 12:29AM
I get it! Because PSP Go sounds like "PSP Faux"!!!
Reuben @ Oct 9th 2009 12:19AM
I have to say, fantastically written article.
RKN @ Oct 9th 2009 12:29AM
For the $85 asking price, I would seriously consider purchasing this.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Oct 9th 2009 4:19PM
wait are they also secretly telling us how much the pspGO could really cost ?
they must make money off the $ 85.00 price tag already....
ok ok it may not have precious, expensive metals inside or that shiny black case, but a point is to be made here, but im not going to go there today, because we all know that that the GO is _____________________.
ThePhantomnaut @ Oct 9th 2009 12:31AM
IT'S A TRAP!
[ArchiGamer] [80% ENTERTAINMENT BY VOLUME] @ Oct 9th 2009 12:35AM
What a knock off!! I mean, look at that PSPGo, its a ripoff!!
Umm, wait....
Gun Barrier @ Oct 9th 2009 12:39AM
I don't know... There's a better chance of me buying this knock-off than the actual PSP GO.
Sayed @ Oct 9th 2009 10:16AM
If it played N64 games, i would get instead of the GO GO
ybfelix @ Oct 9th 2009 12:40AM
Hell, this time we Chinese arguably give the world a superior product, compared to the so called capitalist "original" ;)
Look, it plays NES, Gameboy, Genesis, SNES; it takes SD cards; it has Chinese-Americanish dictionary which is essential for your survival in the coming Chinese Overlords age*, it's even named MP5, how awesome it is? Can you top that at the price of $80**? Cut us some slack please...
* According to current media mind-set.
** If you don't need the knock off casing, there are even cheaper models
Thought I do wish they had a better taste in choosing English fonts.
RKN @ Oct 9th 2009 12:56AM
I believe MP5 is a video codec and aside from that, it can play many other codecs unlike the original PSP.
This is actually a good knockoff and I also comtemplate purchasing this.
ybfelix @ Oct 9th 2009 1:00AM
Joking aside, I would recommend you to see it in person before purchasing, cos knock offs' screen usually are not of great quality*. It do varies from product to product.
*But no PSP3000's horrible scanlines!

Why the hell do you people feel the need to do this with absolutely anything and everything? Videogames, cars, buildings, amusement parks. Or stuff like character designs. And then in some cases even fiercely deny anything is wrong. It baffles me. It gives off the impression of a people that lack any ideas of their own. People without a soul, so to speak. Are you really so creatively bankrupt? Or are you just lazy?
ybfelix @ Oct 9th 2009 7:12AM
We actually do build lots and lots things of our design, but they don't got your media's coverage - why would they report a generic Chinese media player that has no brand in western world? As of now China is the factory of the world, so we build absolutely everything, knock-offs included. So what? You think it's possible to prosecute the manufactors? China of this era is a land where raw capitalism ran rampant, when there is profit to be made there is no stopping them. That's not incompatible with creativity, since China's productivity is infinite, there are always other people trying out new things, and there are people who were content with knock offs. To each his own.
And does that harm the original product in anyway? I doubt so, they are clearly aimed at different crowds. To others they provide a cheap laugh.
bm @ Oct 9th 2009 9:08PM
It sure harms kids over here in the west who open their christmas presents only to find a Vii that mom thought her son wanted, bless her heart.
Guinea Rabbit @ Oct 9th 2009 12:45AM
If it doesn't break apart in your hands the minute you touch it, this actually doesn't sound that bad.
And it already has a hell of a lot more content than the PSPgo.
Come on Sony. Quit playing with your dicks and get to work. We want more PSN content.
ybfelix @ Oct 9th 2009 12:52AM
From my own experience, surprisingly such kind of electronics as a whole can withstand considerable punishment; but individual components tend to go faulty first, loose buttons ,skewed screen, the like.
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 9th 2009 10:07AM
Are you serious? Last update was like 2 months worth of content.
Stevetrop @ Oct 9th 2009 12:55AM
I wonder if they camera the guy used to take pictures it was a knock off camera?
lexicon @ Oct 9th 2009 1:24AM
lol
Enosoma @ Oct 9th 2009 2:03AM
Is that second part from the first part of Up In Smoke?
Deprincer @ Oct 9th 2009 2:22AM
emulation? sign me up!
Ilya @ Oct 9th 2009 2:29AM
This 4GB PXP thing doesn't even have the 4GB despite the title.
4.3" 4GB Slide Panel Retro Gamer / Game Mp5 Player w/ Camera, Mp4 - PXP-2000
... scroll down ...
PXP-2000 Specifications:
# MP4 Specifications
# Memory: 2GB (holds 500 songs, or Countless Games)
# External Memory: SD Card (4GB Max)
So, it only has 2GB. 4GB is the size of an extra SD card that you can buy on your own.
Kodros @ Oct 9th 2009 3:11AM
How funny would it be if it had a UMD drive and a second analog stick. Anywho...
"Memory: 2GB (holds 500 songs, or Countless Games) "
"hold 1000+ songs or countless music videos."
Why do they have trouble counting things? I thought Asians were good at math =)
Oobgarm @ Oct 9th 2009 7:01AM
No more going to Toshi Station? Now where am I going to pick up my power converters?
ColorblindMonk @ Oct 9th 2009 8:15AM
China. Where nothing is original.
Lurkero @ Oct 9th 2009 10:25AM
on the contrary, everything is original because that's where it was made.
JaleelB @ Oct 10th 2009 7:09AM
I kinda want one. Closest to the original design that I've seen yet. Even the interface looks pretty good, if that's the actual UI.
Shimrra @ Oct 9th 2009 9:54AM
ROR - Raugh Out Roud
Lurkero @ Oct 9th 2009 10:25AM
Oh c'mon...not fair.
Lurkero @ Oct 9th 2009 10:24AM
It seems like knock offs are so easy because most of the time products are manufactured in China anyways. All the manufacturer has to do is sell the schematics to another company, change some functionality, and replace the logo.
abelpc @ Oct 9th 2009 11:12AM
If it emulated SNES, MAME, and Genesis I would pick one up... LOL
Anthony @ Oct 9th 2009 11:23AM
Awe, too bad they had to put a retarded text under the screen, because I thoguht I was just looking at a regular psp go until I saw that ugly text.
Kade Storm @ Oct 9th 2009 1:00PM
Y'know, I could buy this, for what looks to be a very decent-price--relatively speaking--and have no more need to use my PSP for emulation needs, provided that this thing can run Genesis and SNES games without any kind of problems or loops holes.
Hey, then I too could become a self-righteous preacher, droning selective-biased rants about how custom firmware and piracy are mutually exclusive concepts. Heh.
I like this knock-off… it’s cool. Go China!
ybfelix @ Oct 9th 2009 9:14PM
They actually success in exporting the Vii? Lol...
NukeAssault @ Oct 11th 2009 3:12AM
Id buy this over the real PSPgo. XD
