It must be great to be a celebrity. Take rapper Lil' Wayne for example. In a GTR video clip, he tells about an Xbox he received from a friend that plays "every game from A-Z, Atari, Nintendo, pong, movies & even porn." Can you imagine? We didn't even know Microsoft made an Xbox like that, and here celebrities are getting them as gifts. ... What's that? ... It's a modded Xbox? Oh come on, now you're just being naive.
Kidding aside, you can say what you will about our close personal friend Soulja Boy, but at least he pays for his games before he totally misunderstands them to be about drugs and alcohol.

For some reason, this guy's voice reminds me of a drowning kitten.

Lil' Wayne grew up in my hometown, and the school he went to the teachers and students described him as, "The whimpy annoying kid who got beat up, etc." Explains why he's a douchebag rapper now....

Maybe they should come above ground to save rock and hip hop, cause they're both awful right now.

What the fuck has happened to music in the last ten years? It used to be awesome. Now we've got people like Lady Gaga and this bastard...

Music isn't dead... only the music "industry". At some point they did, but have now lost touch with all of the good music actually going on because they don't think it's "marketable" enough... so, they just push a bunch of crap down everyone's throats until enough people think that's what they like... mainly because they just don't have or know that they have access to good music.
There's also the aspect of good musicians fearing a label of "sell out" so, they refuse record deals and are then not heard by a very wide audience.

@ J & Ashitaka: Hit the nail on the head. Foals are brilliant too.
You just have to stop and lift a few rocks if you want the good stuff.

Foals IS good, but for the most part, quality music is harder to come by.

What *has* happened to music in 10 years? 10 years ago we had Nsync, Backstreet boys, Spicegirls, Ricky Martin and Hanson dominating radio. When looking at at it from that perspective, the music industry is actually *better off* creatively at this time..
I wish people would step back and really take a look at popular music and realize nothing ever really changes in that space. There is, and will forever be, good music *and* bad music.

10 years ago people were yearning for the music of 10 years before that.
And 10 years before that people were yearning for the music 10 years before THAT.
Nostalgia disease. With media we always remember the past in a fonder light than when we experienced it.

Did somebody just mention The Ting Tings? I just totally came.
I'm mostly an industrial/industrial rock person, as anyone who pays any attention to me would know, but I've been getting into Silversun Pickups and Imogen Heap lately. So pleasant.

dark_inchworm, Silversun Pickups and Imogen Heap are both pretty good in my opinion. My girlfriend got me into Silversun Pickups a couple or so years ago when she got a magazine called Filter (I think that's the name of it) and it had a cd of various artists on it, one artist being Silversun Pickups. Imogen Heap's other project, Frou Frou is also quite good. I also enjoy industrial, and ebm bands: KMFDM, Covenant, System Syn, Imperative Reaction, Rotersand, Stromkern, Skinny Puppy... the list goes on.

Who said bad things about the 80's? How dare ye!
There is okay music today, but the majority is crap.
Personally, I doubt people long for the music of 10 years ago...that would mean all the 'boy bands' and Britney.

If you aren't happy with the music of this generation, you aren't listening to the right artists. Same goes for the past 20+ years.

Just because you don't like doesn't mean it's shit. In some cases it's the exact opposite. Well anyway I don't listen to him either but I have enough respect for anybody in the music industry not to call their music shit.
You all are no better than Kanye.

why would you respect people in the music industry? Just cause they're in the music industry and make music? It's not hard, and most of them, like most people, are assholes

Why not just respect others period. Not everyone is going to like the same thing but nobody deserves to have their creative efforts labeled as "shit."
