When you're in the fashion biz like Marc Ecko you gotta be out there on the edge. So when he tells Destructoid that he's "going to f***ing make [Getting Up] again if it kills me," thereby distinguishing himself not only as the sole living human to want that, but as the only one who remembers it existed, you have to forgive him. He's got to be out there on the edge.
Of course, Ecko then goes on to claim that the reason for the game's failure was that "Atari shit the bed." C'mon Marc, saying Atari bungled something is like the opposite of edgy. It's just obvious.

Are you sure it wasn't your game?

You (and Mr. Ecko) aren't the only ones who enjoyed the game. Jeff Gerstmann, among others, had mostly positive things to say in his review, from back when he worked for GameSpot: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/marceckosgettingup/review.html

It is one of my favorite games. Loved the story, locations, fighting system, soundtrack(!), cutscenes and much more. Slow at start but definitely good once you get the golden spraycan. Not sure why people dislike it.

Seconded. It was a brilliant idea for a game!! Not perfectly executed, but fun and full of potential. The sequel could be infintiely better now .... as long as they get someone other than Atari to make it

If Seth Macfarlane and Jimmy Kimmel had a kid, he'd look like it's testicle.
And no. It didn't even make a good review segment on xplay. And even horrible games make good review segments on xplay.

I love "Getting it up."
Oh, it's called "Getting Up?"
It occurs to me that we may not be talking about the same thing.

@WRE
It's not like the game's coming out within the next 3 months, so why does that matter?

i'm pretty sure that the game isn't even in development (don't go quoting me on that though), so the controllers would be out by the time the game would be in a half decent shape. see how RE5: alternate edition has sony motion controls even though it's not out yet? exactly.

I liked that game, it was great. My favorite part of that game is when I had to run across a freeway to tag a billboard.... awesome!

That was a really intense scene in the game, in fact, a really intense scene for a game altogether. That was an awesome game, and really never got the credit it deserved from the community. Too bad, I've been wanting a sequel since I finished the original.

As a fun reminder:
"I would say there are gamers that have a predisposition to have a bug up their ass for anything urban. The fact that there was a black character on the cover of this game, right away there was a dismissiveness that this was just another GTA: San Andreas, that's number one. Number two, this is the end of a console cycle when there is a law of diminishing returns. The code is as polished as you can make it on a no-hard-drive console like the PS2. So, there are technical limitations that people just can't understand. There are guys that have a predisposition to be slaves to the code, rather than be slaves to the branding, products, or experience. At the end of the day, it's going to be the consumer who decides and not whether the camera makes a difference."

I liked Getting Up too. It was basically Jet Grind/Set Radio + Prince of Persia, and I love both of those. Sure, it had flaws, but overall I think it was a bit unfairly judged based on the name. The "Drama" in it was hilarious, though.

I thought Chick-Fil-A milkshakes kinda sucked... ok, so I've only indulged in one once, and that was only because I'm fairly certain I can't consume anything else they have to offer.

I was a bit younger when I played it and I didn't critique games the way I do today, but from what I can recall, it was a fun beat-em up game. The soundtrack and the art direction were the most outstanding aspects of Getting Up and I swear it had that NYC Queens feel (Mobb Deep and I could have sworn there was a Nas track there!)

I actually loved the game, the first game ended with a possibility for a second, which I have been waiting for. I think it would be interesting to do this for the Wii... nice spray can motion :D.

I loved the game too, I like beating people up, I like parkour and I like graffiti. What else could i wish? It surely had it flaws, but it was a good game overall. I hope they make a second one too.

Dear Courtney,
Chick-Fil-A has had milkshakes for a couple years now. They're 20 oz. and they taste delicious in my opinion. They're hand-spun and topped with a generous helping of whipped cream, and a cherry. They're heaven in a styrofoam cup.
Signed,
Sly

Great, another game to be banned in Australia.
Actually, considering what the first one looked like, I don't mind.
