Known for his stint in the super-violent Spider-Man mini-series "Maximum Carnage" and, um, that SNES game we played so long ago, Carnage will assuredly lend an over-the-top je ne sais quoi to MUA2's proceedings. We're not exactly sure what happens when you pair him with Spider-Man and Venom on screen, but we worry they might get eaten by Carnage, which could be really awkward.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2's first DLC character is another Spider-Man

Awesome. Haven't seen Carnage in a good ol' beat 'em up since Maximum Carnage, which I loved. As much as I love Venom and Spidey, though, Carnage is a top pick for me. Also, is that really the alt. costume for him? Cosmic Carnage? Interesting... was hoping for Ben Reilly as an alternate, but that's still cool.
Finally, Joystiq... really? This is only a third "Spider-Man" ...would you have preferred a sixth "X-Men" character? lol

Carnage? An actual *serial killer*? The original comics with him (I mean his introduction, not Maximum Carnage, which sucked) were great, but to actually play as him... I don't know. What's next, playing as a child molester?

I must be the only one, but for some reason i've never liked these symbiote versions of spiderman. Their huge eyes, gaping stretched mouths and flexible limbs always kind of seem stupid to me. Remind me of some kind of stretch armstrong doll, or kid's drawing.
The idea of an evil spiderman is great. But the execution always makes me think more of "evil stretchy lycra man".
Shouldn't a real evil spiderman be more like, well, a spider? Loads of eyes, long pointy legs (maybe 8?), etc...

The cool design of Carnage makes people forget how truly terrible the Maximum Carnage event was. Really one of the lowest points of Spider-Man.

And this has now jumped to the top of my PS3 want list.

Oh, and he's not "another Spider-Man," by the way. Another character FROM Spider-Man, yes, but he's not Spidey. Now if it were Scarlet Spider, then yeah, that headline would work. But it's not. Poor wording there, folks.
Just sayin.
Just sayin.

Wow, remind me never to bash Carnage on Joystiq!I for one would love to see Marvel's first mutant Namor The Submariner as an extra character.I mean, for a guy that beat the Savage Hulk mano y mano, he gets no respect!

While people have the right to their opinions, and this dude was kind of an ass, Carnage was indeed a product of the one of the worse eras in the comic book industry, where people favored style over substance, the 90's :T
Also, Maximum Carnage wasn't a mini-series, but a crossover between four spider-man comic books (Web of Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Amazing Spider-Man) that lasted for 14 issues and was, as most Spidey fans that read most of his comics agree, a pile of crap.
But everyone's entitled to their opinion, so even if I don't like Carnage, people are allowed to.

Four? I mean't five :P
There was also the equally awfull Spider-Man Unlimited comic series that started and finished the crossover.

Love it.
Probably won't purchase cause I'm pretty much done with Alliance 2 (just finishing up my second playthrough on Legendary).
Of course, if they're smart and offer it up for 80points per character (I assume there will be more available) instead of large packages with characters I DON'T care about, then maybe it'll be worth my money.
On the flip side, if they do make "package deals" with the characters, I hope they include some new missions with the characters that focus on the new characters. The civil war was massive, so it'd be awesome to play missions from other parts of the civil war with these characters.
If it was my call though, they'd add Toxin into the mix and make a level in NYC and have Toxin and Spider-man taking on Carnage with Venom thrown in the mix... that'd be sweet!

And this is why they can make it all better by re-introducing them both with an actually decent story!!!
thats all they need is a fresh start again
