Resistance 3 billboard appears way ahead of its time
A keen-eyed NeoGAF user by the name of goldsoundz noticed a startling billboard in his home town of Shreveport, Louisiana -- splayed out on the massive overhead placard is the logo for the heretofore unannounced next installment in Insomniac Games' PS3 shooter franchise, Resistance 3. Goldsoundz explained that Shreveport is a popular spot for film shoots, and that the ad was to be incorporated in a film titled Battle: Los Angeles, which is due out in early 2011.
By that timeline, it makes sense that Insomniac could slap another game together by the film's theatrical debut -- still, seeing gargantuan promotions for a game that hasn't been formally announced (or discussed) is a bit surprising. Certainly more surprising than a potential announcement for Resistance 3, because, come on, of course there's gonna be a Resistance 3.

Filming a movie about LA in LA the state? Wat?
nintendo fanboy hater @ Oct 11th 2009 1:07PM
i was confused myself. but when the battle of LA supposedly occurred, it is much more like louisiana than anywhere else
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 11th 2009 1:38PM
there have been like 4 battles of LA, so it depends which one you mean
Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes @ Oct 11th 2009 2:05PM
It wouldn't happen to be the one that involved Rage Against the Machine, would it?
ONi @ Oct 11th 2009 2:27PM
Zach de la Rocha was beating LA asses long before the aliens did.
jcj2391 @ Oct 11th 2009 2:33PM
The photo is a set of a movie called Battle: Los Angeles (release date 2011) and Resitance 3 will be release at 2011 and it will be taking place in NYC
Filthy Assistant @ Oct 11th 2009 11:17PM
This movie was already made (and it was awesome)

Chris @ Oct 11th 2009 5:32PM
Ugh. Aliens in New York? Again? *sigh...*
Ballistic H @ Oct 12th 2009 12:34AM
"hear", not "here". *Sigh*
Sayed @ Oct 11th 2009 1:09PM
If the movie's about LA then why is there a picture of the statue of liberty in the title??
Marius @ Oct 11th 2009 2:39PM
facepalm
mgsrocks1 @ Oct 11th 2009 4:34PM
Thats the title of a video game not the movie being shot...there is a statue of liberty because its symbolism for freedom and you would know what happened to that freedom if you played Resistance 2...
Sly @ Oct 11th 2009 1:11PM
haven't most of the humans on the earth been killed off by the chimera by the end of resistance 2? and the chimera leader? and hale? so... where do we go now?
sp23hagbard5 @ Oct 11th 2009 1:26PM
screw you, just bought the game yesterday -.-
Xenophy @ Oct 11th 2009 1:41PM
I believe that they said there were some people still holding out in Australia.
Night Elve @ Oct 11th 2009 1:46PM
Sly I think you need to revisit the game one more time ;)
Sly @ Oct 11th 2009 3:59PM
@sp
dude, the game came out last year. spoilers are free game after a year. but i am sorry for spoiling it for you. and for everyone else, there's a ton of spoilers after this, so don't say i didn't warn you this time.
@night elve
yeah, it's been a while since i played it, but i do remember most of america being wiped out, and they said that america was the last safe place, so that means the rest of the world got taken down too.
and i distinctly remember hale's "death". i guess capelli is still around to take his place though. hale probably isn't fully dead though.
and daedalus is *probably* dead, and he was controlling the chimeran invasion. i guess now it's the human remnant taking on the chimera and/or the cloven? because earth is in some other place after the fission bomb.
Sly @ Oct 11th 2009 4:39PM
oh, and there is a human remnant in australia, but they started a civil war, so they probably won't last too long.
skyzbig @ Oct 11th 2009 1:11PM
Oh good, another generic FPS.
Sly @ Oct 11th 2009 1:11PM
oh great, another generic comment.
Asmerom (PSN: neon6plz) @ Oct 11th 2009 1:19PM
Did you even play it make that judgment?

ironically he plays Halo
Bubbameister33 (Confused by Fanboyism) @ Oct 11th 2009 2:09PM
Oh Snape....Damn it!
cuteSAVAGE @ Oct 11th 2009 2:31PM
That's Professor Snape, Harry... erm... Bubbameister.
Space @ Oct 11th 2009 3:56PM
The first one was awesome. the second was very very generic. There was nothing exciting about the SP campaign at all.
Sayed @ Oct 12th 2009 2:55PM
WOW, i didn't know the HUGE MP with 32 players and MEGA Co-Op with 3 different classes to upgrades could be so generic >_>
I think using the word generic should be banned from Joystiq.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Oct 11th 2009 1:11PM
cool. i love the Resistance franchise. i kind of hope they do a prequel with the next one though since i loved the first one but feel like they changed a little too much in the second. the first one with the technical features of the second would be awesome.
Vincent @ Oct 11th 2009 1:11PM
I hope R3 is as fun as RFOM was. The second was kinda.... generic.
JACK @ Oct 11th 2009 1:43PM
No you. It's at least a rent man. Resistance 2 got great reviews, it's got a great on line multiplayer and innovative ideas, like 60 players multi (I might be wrong but, I've never seen that on a console). I like massive hordes coming at you, and killing them with new weapons and your team VS swarms of chimara. Resistance ftw! I know a lot of people don't like it BUT I'm one of the few here left that still loves it and still enjoys the multi, besides RFOM was my first game on my PS3 so it'll be great to follow the series.
Lunastra78 (PSN: lunastra78) @ Oct 11th 2009 2:29PM
As far as the single player campaign goes, I also prefer the first one. It simply has a better map layout. Also I thought it was annoying having those very generic soldier-allies tagging along for most of R2.
But i haven't gotten to the co-op part yet and I hear that's the best part of R2.
Blkant @ Oct 11th 2009 3:26PM
He makes a good point, the SP in R2 was quite pitiful, especially compared to R:FoM.
Vincent @ Oct 12th 2009 1:55PM
Oh don't misunderstand me, I own both games. I like them, but the single-player campaign on the first one is worlds better than the second. The story feels deeper and it has its style on the way it's told. The second one was just plain, lots of generic soldiers along with you, Hale turned into some baddass testosterone-loaded hero.... The co-op is the saving grace of that game for me, but the first one is still my favorite (plus, you can play the single player campaign with a friend on RFOM, not possible on R2).
Todd @ Oct 11th 2009 1:13PM
Yeah, I'm a little confused about how this can continue.
HeXeN @ Oct 11th 2009 1:15PM
I'm all for it just as long as the story resembles Fall Of Man and the multiplayer plays like the Resistance 2.
aristokrat @ Oct 11th 2009 1:17PM
I'm a simple man. I just want more magnum's with exploding bullets.
damien @ Oct 11th 2009 1:29PM
To tell the truth, I was some disappointed with Resistance 2, but part 3 might be better.
damien @ Oct 11th 2009 1:31PM
Sorry, I meant to say, "To tell the truth, I was somewhat disappointed with Resistance 2, but part 3 might be better." I hope it comes out soon.
Night Elve @ Oct 11th 2009 1:36PM
I always liked the way they are telling you the story in the first one but Resistance 2 was a good game with a really fun online game.
Anyway of course I'm looking forward for Resistance 3 :) ...
TreyIM @ Oct 11th 2009 1:55PM
I have to co-sign, here. I absolutely LOVED the first Resistance and I was glad I took a chance on getting that prior to the day I first bought my PS3...but then the second one, which I got on release day, sorta didn't "feel the same". Maybe it was the euphoria of "FINALLY" getting my PS3 back in 07 that made Resistance so special for me, as well as Motorstom but then again, I also had the dreadful Madden 08, All Pro Football 2K8 and a "tired" NBA Street: Homecourt to counterbalance those great games.
I've actually been meaning to replay Resistance 2 to see if it feels different, this time. Maybe later this week...but Unchartered 2 comes out Tues...plus I'm enjoying my other new shiny sports games that are great. I'll see
Anyway, I look forward to Resistance 3, though. There should be no excuse for a lackluster game when games like Unchartered 2 is looking to technically blow the doors off any console game before it. Not to mention, the story needs to be more engaging, like Unchartered.
Let's GO, Insomniac.I know what you can do...
5-Piece Chicken Dinner @ Oct 11th 2009 7:08PM
Resistance 1 was WAY more harder than Resistance 2. Playing on the second to last difficulty on Resistance 1 was very frustrating and I was shocked whoever finished the game on the hardest difficulty
HighFiveJesus @ Oct 11th 2009 1:37PM
theres a lot of bar to raise
sony boy (6 years til sony man child!) @ Oct 11th 2009 1:44PM
at least make a new design for the name, jeez.
Marius @ Oct 11th 2009 2:05PM
that wouldn't make sense, since the name already has an established base
IcelandTerrorist (stormtrooper190) @ Oct 11th 2009 3:33PM
i think he means the font. not the name of the game.
Kodros @ Oct 11th 2009 5:05PM
"at least make a new design for the name, jeez."
Have you never noticed that 99.9% of sequels in movies and games have the same title design as the original?
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 11th 2009 5:46PM
Why should the font be changed. I think it's fine. Please sony boy, stop complaining about little things.
sony boy (6 years til sony man child!) @ Oct 11th 2009 6:14PM
well, at least icelandterriost gets it. it looks exactly the same as resistance 2, except with a 3 instead of 2.
cheeziepotato, people will always complain about small things, get over it.
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 11th 2009 6:52PM
I don't know why you have to worry about that. All the Halo games had the same font, same with all the Spiderman movies.
