Resistance 3 billboard appears way ahead of its time
123
A keen-eyed NeoGAF user by the name of goldsoundz noticed a startling billboard in his home town of Shreveport, Louisiana -- splayed out on the massive overhead placard is the logo for the heretofore unannounced next installment in Insomniac Games' PS3 shooter franchise, Resistance 3. Goldsoundz explained that Shreveport is a popular spot for film shoots, and that the ad was to be incorporated in a film titled Battle: Los Angeles, which is due out in early 2011.
By that timeline, it makes sense that Insomniac could slap another game together by the film's theatrical debut -- still, seeing gargantuan promotions for a game that hasn't been formally announced (or discussed) is a bit surprising. Certainly more surprising than a potential announcement for Resistance 3, because, come on, of course there's gonna be a Resistance 3.

@Maverick Saturn:
In defense of Mario and Sonic, they've been around a lot longer than Guitar Hero or Halo or . Mario's first game was Donkey Kong in 1981, Sonic's was Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991. The first Halo game was 2001, the first Guitar Hero game was 2005.

I haven't finished Resistance 2's campaign yet. I'm actually farther along Retribution than I am on R2, hahaha.
R2 didn't seem that interesting to me after 3 hrs.

I dunno, I find it funny that a movie about soldiers fending off an alien invasion would have a Resistance 3 billboard in their movie.

Is it possible that this movie is about resistance, after all its being filmed in Baton Rouge, is about an alien invasion, and there is even a possible character named Corporal Grayston, Lieutenant Grayson anyone? i dunno just throwing out ideas here haha

Damn tmac, you sure are picky about games. Resistance 2 did have a typical FPS single player, but the 60 player online multiplayer was amazing. That's one of the things that made the game good.

Cool, the second one was epic. Can Capelli top Hale as certified badass, though?

I'm a huge fan of the Resistance universe but Resistance 2's single player was horrible. It felt like Insomniac didn't quite know what they wanted to do. They had an awesome first game, unique in it's approach, but tried to be something it wasn't in the sequel.
Insomniac is one of my favorite developers (alongside Naughty Dog) but R 3 is going to be a rent. I just hope Insomniac gets their act together.

It is absolutely imperative they bring the weapon wheel back.
R2 lost alot of what made it uniquely its own.
It also didn't help that there wasn't Parker to help narrate the whole thing and give it a semblance of plot. I started playing it again last night, I'm almost done, but honestly, I'm stepping back to try and remember what happened and the plot still makes as little sense as it did last year when I was playing it...

I really love the single player in this franchise so far. Don't kill me but I think it's way better than Killzone, even if it doesn't look anywhere near as good.

I beat two more levels today after your encouragement. Still a long ways off from finishing the game though. I'm on the level after you get the Hailstorm, where you're driving that vehicle.

Just a couple of comments...
I thought R1's SP was better than R2's which was better than KZ2's. In R1 everytime after you die I almost expected her to say "No no no, that's not how it happened." Which isn't altogether a bad thing. (Hopefully someone gets the reference).
For multiplayer, the opposite is true. KZ2's better than R2 which is better than R1...
As for "fighting the controls" in KZ2...I think that's part of it's charm. Once you can master the controls you're head and shoulders above the rest of the community. Btw...ever hear of strafe aiming? (Probably a term I just made up but it's valid nonetheless).
Anyway I wasn't a big fan of FPS shooters on consoles until I played R1...but I think that had to do more with my dissatisfaction with hackers and hardware requirements on PC FPSs (Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat top the list).
At least with a console everyone gets the same hardware and (hopefully) it's harder to hack.
