'Dead Center' and 'Hard Rain' are final Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns [Update: They're real!]
Update: A Valve representative has confirmed the veracity of the two posters as official, saying simply, "They're legit."
Original: It is with much necessary reservation that we bring you the two purported Left 4 Dead 2 campaign posters for "Dead Center" and "Hard Rain" that you see above, completing the set of five campaign missions. Found over on Taiwanese website GNN, we're highly skeptical of their veracity for the time being, but felt their quality at least bared mention -- if this isn't real thing, it's damn impressive. Being Danny Doubters though, we're still a bit thrown by consistency differences when compared to the game's other three posters. We've sent a note to Valve for comment, so until we hear back, the images will remain strictly in our "unconfirmed" pile.
In the meantime, ponder this: "Dead Center" translated by Google from Mandarin Chinese is "Death Marketplace." Fact!
[Thanks Lockwolf!]

MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 11th 2009 8:38PM
Everytime I see 'Hard Rain', I can't help but think about that film with Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater.
It sends chills up my spine - more so than the thought of fighting zombies.
vidGuy @ Oct 11th 2009 8:42PM
I personally think of "Chubby Rain."
Gotcha suckas!
Mazrael @ Oct 11th 2009 8:48PM
fighting zombies, gut deep in water, and raining.. genius!
Obie @ Oct 11th 2009 8:54PM
At first I was like "high water? In New Orleans? Errrr....whoops!
WINterfang ( Now with the power to piss you off ) @ Oct 11th 2009 10:27PM
Not funny Obbie.
ok it was kinda funny but not cool.
ok it was kinda cool also.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 11th 2009 10:39PM
One could branch off Obie's joke and say that the president doesn't care about infected people.
However the joke doesn't work for Obama because of his healthcare reform proposal.... >.>
vidGuy @ Oct 11th 2009 11:15PM
Wow - downvoted on a Bowfinger reference. Never thought I'd see the day...
Shadsy @ Oct 12th 2009 12:27AM
vidGuy I would upvote you 500 more times if possible. Dropping a Fake Purse Ninjas reference would've helped too.
Wayne @ Oct 12th 2009 12:28AM
I liked the Bowfinger reference. I always think of "Chubby Rain" when I see "Heavy Rain" or similar.
nighttime @ Oct 12th 2009 2:31AM
I always think of the Moroccan level on No One Lives Forever!
DBuck_Eye @ Oct 11th 2009 8:38PM
"You must be this tall to die" is pretty epic win.
Seroth @ Oct 11th 2009 8:44PM
I feel pretty confident that these are real. Apparently there have been videos/screenshots of these levels out there, just with no specific campaign attached to them.
Also, I want one of those gator dolls pictured in the Dark Carnival poster! Hopefully we'll see 'em on the Valve Store someday. :P
PR0F3TA (PSN - PROPHETA) @ Oct 11th 2009 10:01PM
dude i love your avatar, TUAW should adopt them as default.
MRLN (The Comment God) @ Oct 11th 2009 8:50PM
Darn, I was hoping the campaigns would go on forever.
Obie @ Oct 11th 2009 8:52PM
Yeah have fun boycotting this one guys.
...I'll be at the mall.... :D
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 11th 2009 10:26PM
I'll be at.... wait, where's the second one placed? Oh right, Earth.
freaparn @ Oct 11th 2009 11:04PM
My only real issue with this whole debacle has been the Crash Course campaign. It was too short, uninspired, and felt like the sort of thing someone cranked out in the space of an afternoon. Or worse, levels cut from other campaigns dredged out of the recycling bin.
Whether or not Valve ever intended to carry through on their promise of several DLC releases for the original is moot to me, I got my money's worth off the original four campaigns several times over. It's a great game, I had a great time, no complaints. But throwing the community half a bone in the form of Crash Course was pretty half-assed, in my opinion.
Rather than boycotting, I'll be renting. It's about as much righteous indignation as I can manage these days.
ssuk @ Oct 12th 2009 6:12AM
The Crash Course DLC wouldn't have been so bad if it was free on the 360. I think it'd doubtful I'll purchase L4D2 on 360 now I have a gaming pedigree PC which will actually be supported and far from Microsoft's stupid restrictions/money-grabbing. But my heart goes out to console gamers still. Microsoft/Valve/Chutulu gave someone a bum-deal over pay-for Crash Course.
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 11th 2009 8:55PM
Oh yeah Uncle Phil
MrSpaceCowboy @ Oct 11th 2009 10:45PM
I eagerly await the mod that replaces the other survivors with Will, Carlton and Hillary.
Then they can all slay the infected as they try to get home to Bel Air.
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 11th 2009 10:48PM
That's the reason I want to get the PC version. I haven't played a PC game since Half-Life in 1999.
rooshma @ Oct 12th 2009 12:58AM
YO CARLTON
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 2:28AM
cowboy, screw hillary and bring on JAZZ!
then again, the addition of jazz would turn it into a sausagefest, and hillary is pretty sexy... hmm...
CheeziePotato [Has finally become a Super Saiyan] @ Oct 12th 2009 8:48AM
I miss that show so much. The 90s were the best.
bamb0o-stick @ Oct 12th 2009 11:13AM
You forgot Geoffrey the butler. That guy was all kinds of cool. That guy can probably handle his kitchenware pretty well against zombies. He would bring class to the apocalypse
mynk @ Oct 12th 2009 1:38PM
and he would kill to sit next to the terminator.
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 11th 2009 8:59PM
I think the best part about these is definitely the movie-esque posters.
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 11th 2009 9:00PM
Speaking of, anyone know where I can get high-res versions of these?
Roger @ Oct 11th 2009 9:09PM
I hope its more then this. I mean its alright but 4 campaigns just ain't enough!
Omega2k3 @ Oct 11th 2009 9:20PM
Someone needs to learn how to count...
Obie @ Oct 11th 2009 9:22PM
1. The Parish
2. Swamp Fever
3. Dark Carnival
4. Hard Rain
5. Dead Center
5,...ah ah ah ah!
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 11th 2009 9:27PM
And L4D2 will get DLC as well. So, no worries.
Avatar @ Oct 12th 2009 1:27AM
Not to mention the wonders that will come out of the modding community. Everyone who can should get this for PC. The mods are worth it. That, and the level of customization options one has when setting up a server.
Roger @ Oct 12th 2009 2:11AM
1. I didn't know dark carni. was a episode...I'd still like maybe two more
2. I was going with the console version. My PC is crap and could barely run the first.
Spartan [Planeteer | Power of Sunshine & Lollipops] @ Oct 11th 2009 9:14PM
Rumors aren't that good when there are screen shots.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 11th 2009 9:26PM
Yeah, exactly. Did you hear about L4D3 being confirmed? I found this screen shot of it a few hours ago on the official Steam page.

Hydrophobicfish (PSN: HydrophobicFish) @ Oct 11th 2009 9:44PM
That's a lot of effort to go through just for a joke, Steve. Even if it was a hackmeat MS Paint job...
You're a teenager, or twenty something... you're not supposed to put that much effort into anything you do.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 11th 2009 10:02PM
-Literally took less than 1 minute to make and upload. It's not THAT hard to use MS paint ya know.
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 11th 2009 10:18PM
Love it Steve. Not only does it appeal to children it's also very original.
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 11th 2009 10:40PM
MS Paint jokes can be funny.
If you're an absolute failure at humor, though, better luck next time.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 11th 2009 11:19PM
Eh, normally I'd bash you for screwing up your comment with "if" and "though", but today I don't really care. However, I DO care enough to type this up. Think of it as a consolation prize.
Spartan [Planeteer | Power of Sunshine & Lollipops] @ Oct 12th 2009 6:57AM
You know what, right now i'd pre-order L4D3 even if that was the official box art.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 11th 2009 9:18PM
... it's obviously real. I mean, why else would they put in English?
ShadowXOR @ Oct 11th 2009 9:24PM
How exactly is this a rumor? They're obviously real, and there's even gameplay from Hard Rain. Not to mention I believe I saw both over 24 hours ago. Let's get on the ball guys.
Saria the Cat @ Oct 11th 2009 9:24PM
EXCITEMENT!!! :D
simblor @ Oct 11th 2009 9:34PM
Thhhhhhhats what she said! No, really.
Hydrophobicfish (PSN: HydrophobicFish) @ Oct 11th 2009 9:45PM
... it WAS what she said...
WINterfang ( Now with the power to piss you off ) @ Oct 11th 2009 10:16PM
Why does the phrase "excitement!!:D " looks like a penis?
CheeziePotato (PSN: talic10 | XBL: InfiniteMovie) @ Oct 11th 2009 10:20PM
8EXCITEMENT!!! :D
There you go, fixed.
