Know what would be even more awesome, if the game revolved around some supernatural battle like the trailer shows instead of just playing venues. If they could incorporate some crazy story sort of like how Brutal Legend blends music into the story, I think they could bring some new life into games of the music genre.

Yeah.. As much as I want to hate this game for being Activision's cash-in on Guitar Hero's colossal succeses, watching the world get obliterated by the awesome power of Justice's electro house beast "Genesis" just put me over the edge. Goddamn that was legit.

I think this game looks really cool but some issues for me:
I like rap, but I was hoping there would be more electro in here too. Mixing Boys Noize with Jay-Z would be really cool.
Too expensive
Until cheaper peripherals kick in, and until this game hits Guitar Hero/Rock Band like success. We'll be stuck with playing this by ourselves in front of everybody. Single Player-centric at the moment.

That "annoying voice" was "Fix Up, Look Sharp" by Dizzie Rascal.

I played the demo for this in Best Buy Saturday, or was it yesterday?? Either way, I loved it!! Can't wait to get my hands on this game.
@Discotheque There is a DJ/Guitar mode where a second person can join in on guitar. I think if you get a second turntable, there might be a 2 player mode there as well.

Is DJ Shadow is the villain in this game? Anyways, Grandmaster Flash doing Justice vs. Dizzee Rascal is pretty fucking cool. Not buying, but I'll be the first one to say that electronic/hip-hop/non rock based music can be fun, exciting, and artistic.

"We're not sure if the actual gameplay experience of twirling plastic records and tapping buttons will evoke the same feelings..."
First off, why are you speaking in the royal we, Richard? Did you poll your colleagues before pronouncing your snooty opinion?
The cinematic is cool. Take it at face value. No one is saying the game will be good, we don't have it out. But this "we're not sure..." attitude is pretty tired, Joystiq. You do this anytime anything GH related is put out, and last time I checked GH5 was well received, and this game has a bunch of promise, as Giant Bomb has reported.

Considering that they've played the game a little, they probably have a better sense of what's to come than you do.
Plus, they weren't discrediting the game, perhaps you should read, or include, the rest of that sentence so you can't give it a negative spin to make it seem like they're already doubtful.

First of all, they use the royal "we" all the time, not just in Activision posts. If you ever see a post on here about them hiring writers, they usually ask for a sample post in the typical Joystiq style. Said style meaning they use the collective "we" instead of "I". I searched for the posts, but it didn't give a specific example, so I think I heard it Chris Grant explaining it on the podcast.
Secondly, your freakout about Joystiq slamming DJ Hero is unfounded. Why don't you finish reading the sentence you quoted...we'll wait. Notice the link? The link to the article where a Joystiq writer praised the game and in fact, said, "DJ Hero isn't just a shameless cash-in on one of the gaming industry's largely untapped cultures. It's a completely original and entertaining take on the rhythm genre with vast amounts of potential, and I can't wait to see what the full version of the game has to offer." And the writer of the above article even states that theintro video has "us" pumped. OH GOD another form of the royal "we".
THE HORROR.
In conclusion, get the sand out of your vagina.

It's a fact this site sneers at Activision rhythm game news. Every new post has a knock written into it. Sorry if that bothers you, but the facts are the facts.
Sure, they try to buy it back with, could be cool, whatever. You can downvote me all you want. It just makes it appear you can't handle an opinion different than yours.
And please, the royal we thing has been overused in blogs for so long. This site would do better to drop the affectation.
More credible gaming sites than this one have played the final build of DJ Hero and have been very positive. They aren't riding the bandwagon with "Oh, Activision... yawn. Guess it could be cool."

It's ironic, and hypocritical, that you would say being downvoted is just a way of us (which I didn't do anyway) being unable to handle an opinion different than ours, when in fact, your rebuttals only prove to show that you can't do the same.
Also, I don't see how any Joystiq's writers' opinion is any less credible than those found from other gaming journalists. A conspiracy theory isn't proof of it either. You can do better proving that each rhythm game post has a negative take on the genre from Activision and doesn't fall within the lines of satire.
Also, your opinion can be unfounded as all opinions should be based around some facts, and if you're going to make an opinion, don't ignore the rest of the post to try and make yours seem right. Yes, he did say it could fall behind the intro video in terms of excitement (note, IN COMPARISON TO THE VIDEO), but he also noted it was looking good so far and that the video had him pumped. It's called looking at all possibilities.

I can handle differing opinions. It's called hitting reply.
I don't go down the list, looking for people who fall out of the party line, which is getting tired, btw... and check the red box. That is kinda silly, I hope you agree.
This site is a glorified RSS reader. Why these twenty-something writers are paid by AOL to write negative little blurbs that are often too-cool-for-school is beyond me.
When they start posting reasonable critiques, instead of the same 'ol, then I'll be the first to say, hey, nice job. Which I've done like once or twice, is all I can remember.

To be honest, it's not that bad. Maybe it's because I'm the larval form of a Disc Jockey, but I got a hold of this game quite easily. After just 10 minutes on the demo, I was already getting 5 stars on Hard (there's no option for Expert on the demo). Believe it or not, I actually had postitive feelings about the game. While the song mixes weren't my cup of tea, they were still enjoyable and made even better when I'm the only one who can even play on Hard in that store with people behind me watching behind me knowing that they will never reach my superiority at pointlessness. Of course, the $119.99 price tag doesn't seem to be worth it. If you really want to play it and not pay for it, get really good at the demo, ask why they don't put up the full version instead of a three song demo, and watch as they strive for a full version in hopes that you will show good you are at DJ Hero and just how much you need to get laid, which is a hard thing to do because the only ones that would consider a full game woould be Best Buy.

Why the OP got voted down is beyond me. It seems 95% of the posters on here are completely nuts for this game, but from the first mention I heard of it I thought it was a stupid idea. This trailer makes me think it's even more stupid. The only reason the game exists is because Guitar Hero took off. Activision is trying to create a market and demand that wasn't there before. No one would have cared about a DJ rhythm game had Activision not thrown it out there.

That mix sucked being that there was no consistency to the spinning. It sounded like a weak mash up of a few different mixes. The ruined Dizzy Rascal. Cinematics were cool but DJ Shadow looks like Fred Durst.
