DJ Hero Renegade Edition's Jay-Z, Eminem compilations detailed

Rolling Stone got the full list of tracks on both sets. Jay-Z's disc sticks exclusively to past hits, but Eminem's includes a brand-new song, "Taking My Ball." That's right, the "unreleased tracks" mentioned on the box is really unreleased track. And it'll premiere on Eminem's Sirius radio station over a week before the game comes out, so it's more like no unreleased tracks.
After the break, as a reminder, we've included the full list of the songs in the actual game.

The track listing for this game is horrible...
PedoJokerBear [Planeteer | Power of Gall Bladder] @ Oct 12th 2009 12:41PM
I on the other hand think its great, its called preference.
VaultBoy @ Oct 14th 2009 8:00PM
This is one of the games where a song list doesn't really do it justice, because each mix is unique. And I oppose Gwen Stefani's Hollabackgirl in any capacity. I can't imagine it sounding good with Gorillaz or Rick James (one of the promo vidz). And as much as I love Motorhead, I cannot see their inclusion as anything but an abomination, but I am still interested to hear what the mix sounds like. Every Ozzy or Black Sabbath riff I have heard ripped off for some hip-hip track has been shit so I cannot help but expect the same here. Beastie Boys did OK with the Led Zeppelin riff though so who knows...
CheeziePotato [Has finally become a Super Saiyan] @ Oct 12th 2009 12:35PM
Vanilla Ice - "Ice Ice Baby" vs. MC Hammer - "U Can't Touch This"
Eminem, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Daft Punk, Jackson 5
That's it I'm buying this game despite how much I hate Activision and Bobby Kotick
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 12:38PM
- Gwen Stefani - "Hollaback Girl" vs. Gorillaz - "Feel Good Inc."
wow, why did they have to mess up feel good inc? why would you even make a mix like that?!
anyways, a lot of the mixes (besides that one...) look good. i'll try and pick this game up when its discounted.
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 12:40PM
- Marvin Gaye - "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" vs. Gorillaz - "Feel Good Inc."
i'll admit, that one sounds interesting...

I feel you on that cause the Gorillaz are GOOD shit....
but I think this mix is worse... 2Pac - "All Eyez On Me" vs. The Aranbee Pop Orchestra - "Bittersweet Symphony (Instrumental)"
M.Garvey @ Oct 12th 2009 12:43PM
Here's the thing. On paper, a lot of the mixes sound like they're gonna be abominations...until you actually hear them. Some of them are actually pretty good. Trust me Sly, I was saying the same thing until I started looking up the tracks on youtube. I'm officially hooked on the MC Hammer vs. Vanilla Ice mix. I thought that it was gonna be straight garbage, but it's one of my favorites so far, and I can't wait to play it!
CheeziePotato [Has finally become a Super Saiyan] @ Oct 12th 2009 12:45PM
Gorillaz is great, but Gwen Stefani? Why? Why? WHY?
INTERNET SUPERHERO @ Oct 12th 2009 12:47PM
Does this game allow you to freely mix?
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 2:08PM
oh, don't get me wrong, i think a lot of the mixes sound like they would sound great. but hollaback girl vs. feel good inc?! that's just an abomination. same with the mix that aggie said.
and yes, the gorillaz are awesome. makes me wonder why they only had feel good inc in this game since rock the house would have been even better. dlc maybe?
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 2:43PM
@Garvey
there's a decent chance that the mixes on youtube aren't the mixes in the game. they did say a lot of these mixes are new.
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 2:45PM
ahh, never mind. i didn't realize that they uploaded gameplay videos to youtube. my bad.
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 2:50PM
i was right! I Heard It Through The Grapevine" vs. Gorillaz - "Feel Good Inc. is actually good! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdenALHBENA

Played it at best buy over the weekend. Grew on me like your dads case of herpes. $120 is a bit much but would be a nice xmas gift.
Hafkie @ Oct 12th 2009 12:48PM
Same here. Although there was a lag, I found myself pretty upset the first day I played it. I can back the next day and played again. I started to have alot of fun, and I was getting the hang of the crossfader. I even played on hard!
The learning curve on this game is much larger than any other rhythm game out there, but it is so worth it. I might go back again. I had a blast.
Martin @ Oct 12th 2009 7:55PM
Hafkie, do you play drums on GH/RB? I do, and I'm curious if gaining separate control of left/right/foot would help or hinder someone in this game?
So far drums have been by far the hardest to learn, but the most rewarding.
MystileArmor @ Oct 12th 2009 12:43PM
Although the track list is somewhat solid (from my perspective), the whole gameplay idea just seems a bit "meh".
One of the bigger appeals from games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band is that it'll do great as a party game. I just don't see that with this.
Also, Activision can suck a big fat one. I'll get all my Activision games from the bargain bin, as much as I can. Although this one can just stay in it, as far as I'm concerned.
Solace @ Oct 12th 2009 12:49PM
that's what made GH/RB games fun, having people over and just having a good time with some good music but if you show this to your friends you look like a complete tool spending $200 on a fake turntable
Jason Statham (Has a ps3 now) @ Oct 12th 2009 1:39PM
So somehow you don't look like a complete tool spending $200 on plastic guitars?
MystileArmor @ Oct 12th 2009 2:05PM
The price and the worth attached to it is subjective. I wouldn't spend my 200 bucks on a plastic turntable, but I did spend a good amount on money on the Guitar Hero instruments. Then again, that was around 200 dollars for a full set + game, so.. it's arguably a better deal.
Either way, I've had my fill of rhythm games after The Beatles Rock Band came out. I'm good to go, I won't buy another one unless it's gotten one of my favourite songs ever on it, which will probably end up on Rock Band anyways. With the RBN around the corner, I don't think I'd ever need another rhythm game ever.
T @ Oct 12th 2009 2:31PM
@ Statham:
I spend $200 on Rock Band or GH, I get the game...a guitar...a drum...and a mic. That's three players right there.
I spend $200 on DJ Hero. I get the game and a turntable. That's just one player.
When the majority of the appeal in regards to music games comes from the party atmosphere...this game is basically a BIG step backwards in that the same amount of money only provides entertainment for one person.
M.Garvey @ Oct 12th 2009 12:46PM
The game comes out on October 27th.
GiggMan @ Oct 12th 2009 12:47PM
Nice I pre-ordered the Renegade edition just because it came with a stand, didn't know you got a CD with it also.
Maurice @ Oct 12th 2009 12:55PM
You payed 80 bucks for a stand?
CheeziePotato [Has finally become a Super Saiyan] @ Oct 12th 2009 1:12PM
He also gets a CD
GiggMan @ Oct 12th 2009 1:12PM
Technically I haven't payed for anything.
I swear I just don't understand why people have a problem with how you spend your money. For you and anyone else who like to keep track of these type of things I also spent $500 for a PS3, $400 for a 360, $250 for a Wii, and apparently $80 for a stand.
Space @ Oct 12th 2009 1:47PM
I spent $7.42 on lunch today. I got some Fruit, and mixed nuts.
CheeziePotato [Has finally become a Super Saiyan] @ Oct 12th 2009 1:47PM

I gave a girl at a Ministry concert $20 because I liked her boobs. She didn't care how I spent my money.
Did I get anything for it? Not really (nice backrub aside), but you see, the point is... well... fuck I don't know.
maveric101 @ Oct 12th 2009 5:30PM
@Giggman
most people probably don't care, but the whole point of the comments section is for people to voice their opinion, positive or negative (as long as it is not done in an inflammatory, moronic, or trollish manner). personally i think these games are best enjoyed with other people. 95% of the time i spend playing rock band is with other people. so to me this product seems kinda silly.
Barkley610 @ Oct 12th 2009 12:47PM
Seriously I just want this music to listen too......
Has there been mention of an audio only download of

I don't like these mash ups or vs tracks or whatever you call it. i mean tears for fears and PE? What hip hop head would mix that. There's a lot of stuff they could have done but this is just hipster crap. not to mention turntables don't have fricken buttons on the platter. This isn't even like real mixing. At least the motions in guitar hero are like playing a guitar. And you can't mix two records with one turntable.
MystileArmor @ Oct 12th 2009 2:21PM
...Did it hurt?
T @ Oct 12th 2009 2:28PM
Best Buy is starting to put out demos, so I finally got a chance to play it.
Conceptually? Sounds like a real good time. But the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
My biggest beef is that the crossfader and turntable feel WAY too loose in my hand...so I can't get a good feel for when I've gotten the fader back to the middle (causing me to overshoot the cross over). The turntable is fun, But I don't feel like I ever have a good enough grip on it to ever really scratch.
If they could put some extra space between the turntable and the fader...and maybe make it a bit tighter on both features, I'd be more interested in this. But with how quick some of the scratches and fades come...I feel like I don't have a solid grip on the controller the whole time I'm playing.
5-Piece Chicken Dinner @ Oct 12th 2009 2:59PM
I think Activision did a good job picking the track lists. There's some Bell Biv DeVoe, Cameo, Gang Starr, and Mobb Deep! I thought Activision would go all Pop on this bitch, but there's a hefty amount of old school in there
