Pass. Waiting for Mass Effect 2.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 12th 2009 4:39PM
Same here. The more I see of this game, the better I feel about that decision.
ballistic3188 @ Oct 12th 2009 4:42PM
I don't see what people liked about mass effect compared to other bioware works. hell i thought jade empire was better than mass effect.
really looking forward to dragon age will be like good old baldur's gate again.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 12th 2009 4:45PM
You answered your own question. A lot of people (including me) liked Mass Effect because it wasn't like Baldur's Gate. I can't stand that old combat system where you just click and just watch your guy slash while a dice roll determines your hit and damage.
It's a similar answer to the people who say they don't understand why they like GTA 3 through 4 instead of 1 & 2. It evolved, and in a positive way.
jpp @ Oct 12th 2009 4:47PM
yeah it's been a while since i played a good D&D western style rpg, mostly cause every damn pc rpg is an mmo now, cause obviously we can all play 20+ pay for play games, and none of us enjoy a good single player yarn anymore. i really hope this lives up to my expectations though, which are baulder's gate 2 high. ie, the action looks fantastic, but will the storyline, character interactions and development be able to keep up, is it a deep game, or just some spectacular blood and gore.
Shagittarius @ Oct 12th 2009 5:09PM
Ass Effect was crap. This is much better.
gobo @ Oct 12th 2009 5:15PM
You didn't like KOTOR either then tmac?
ballistic3188 @ Oct 12th 2009 5:17PM
@ Tmac,
I see so its gameplay fits you better. I guess i am RPG kinda person at heart what i saw in Mass effect was better combat system but it weakened everthing like about bioware game mainly story, side characters, and side quests.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 12th 2009 5:22PM
Not really Gobo, the horrendous combat system ruined it for me. Just like it did with Planescape, Baldur's Gate, and Fallout 1 & 2. I like to control my character, and when I hit a headshot, I don't want a magic dice roll telling me I didn't.
That's 1 reason why I'm excited for Borderlands (not really a normal RPG, I know), because a hit depends on your actual ability to aim a weapon and shoot. I think the amount of damage you do is controlled by a roll, which I'm pretty ok with, as long as my ability to hit is based on my skill.
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 5:30PM
KOTOR was amazing.
Shagittarius @ Oct 12th 2009 5:51PM
T-mac was told there would be no math.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 12th 2009 6:27PM
Mass Effect needed only three things:
1. Fix the texture pop-in and other engine problems.
2. Get rid of the Mako.
5 (three, sir) 3. No more elevators.
That would have made it perfect.
cafecito @ Oct 12th 2009 6:40PM
Personally, I'll freakin' get both. I LOVE Bioware's work. All of it.
BTW... another Jade Empire would be sublime :D
styleznma @ Oct 12th 2009 4:39PM
Mass Effect is awesome but this game will EASE the wait by delivering something equal but in a different time... looks really really Great !!!
Stacky @ Oct 12th 2009 4:40PM
Do want.
rayads786 @ Oct 13th 2009 1:04PM
OOOOHHH!!! One of the best game vids since SWTOR!
doc j @ Oct 12th 2009 4:42PM
Why did cloaks ever fall out of style? So useful.
Erluti @ Oct 12th 2009 5:07PM
Because you have to take them off to fight dragons.
doc j @ Oct 12th 2009 5:19PM
Erluti, that's exactly why they're useful. You ever try to scramble out of a parka while some behemoth is raining fire from above? Not easy.
Dr. Bradwart [100% Reagan Conservative!] @ Oct 12th 2009 5:43PM
I plan on wearing a cloak when I take over the world. So stylish.
Mike Schramm @ Oct 12th 2009 4:42PM
holy crap that girl turned into a spider
The Good Soldier Svejk @ Oct 12th 2009 4:43PM
I don't know if it's really valid to complain about the cold when most of your breasts are hanging out of your top.
Durden @ Oct 12th 2009 4:52PM
Haven't you noticed, breasts are hot!
Lunastra78 (PSN: lunastra78) @ Oct 12th 2009 4:57PM
Hah, silly... Of course she had cast a spell of bosom-warming +3 before this fight took place.
The ignorance of today's youth...
The Good Soldier Svejk @ Oct 12th 2009 5:05PM
Did she roll a DD dice!
Orchard Pear @ Oct 12th 2009 4:44PM
Pass.
Will buy it used since they delayed the PS3 version.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 12th 2009 8:31PM
You're Halo Pony, right? Welcome back.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 12th 2009 11:16PM
It got delayed what ... 2 weeks past the 360 version? It's a curious delay indeed but should dissuade you from buying the game.
Brother Daz @ Oct 12th 2009 4:44PM
Holy shit!
Case @ Oct 12th 2009 4:45PM
Well, I came.
V-Mode @ Oct 12th 2009 4:46PM
You guys are nuts, I've been waiting for a game like this for years. The last good old PC style RPGs I remember playing are Baldurs Gate 2 and Fallout 2.
Also, this trailer was leaked some time ago, though EA was rather militant in getting people to remove it from their sites (saw it getting removed on youtube four times
doc j @ Oct 12th 2009 4:50PM
I'm with you, hombre. Not sure we'll see something as good as Baldur's Gate, but even something close would be nice.
I'm still trying to bleach Too Human from my mind.
V-Mode @ Oct 12th 2009 5:08PM
As far as I can tell the combat has evolved quite a bit from the BG2 days (it's real time for starters), and since Bioware has proven in the past that they're capable of crafting a good RPG experience I think this game will turn out quite well. Don't really get why people are being so negative about it.
That being said, I really need to lower my expectations since I'm way to hyped up over finally getting my hands on some of that old school RPG gaming o_O
ShadowXOR @ Oct 12th 2009 4:50PM
Honestly I'm a 360 fanboy and Demon's Souls looks a lot better than this. Luckily I have a PS3 as well so I'll be getting that. Sure it's different, but I guess that's why I don't like this but I do like DS.
Danthok @ Oct 12th 2009 4:54PM
Yeah the CG looks great, however I feel like the gameplay will be lacking. Hopefully they prove me wrong.
CH3BURASHKA @ Oct 12th 2009 4:55PM
Demon's Souls is cooler.
I saw the GiantBomb QL, and DAYUM the leveling/item management looks fucked up.
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 4:55PM
am i the only one that thought that this game would be better as a movie?
Jason @ Oct 13th 2009 9:33PM
Serious questions (not criticism):
1) How much would a trailer like this cost?
2) How much time would it require to put together 8 minute segments as a web broadcast?
3) How much would Bioware charge for each episode?
4) Would the writing be acceptable, and would they use the folks who wrote the script for the video game for the show?
Mu93n @ Oct 12th 2009 4:58PM
the black haired chick reminded me of the pms girl from "Waiting..."
Nate Addison @ Oct 12th 2009 4:58PM
Hold on I'll brb...I just finished watching that trailer and I need a new pair of underwear.....ya know what...I really gotta clean this up.......I cant post any comments right now....
CzAr @ Oct 12th 2009 5:03PM
A cinematic makes you wet yourself... sad.
Shagittarius @ Oct 12th 2009 5:12PM
Hey my seats already wet!
Sly @ Oct 12th 2009 5:16PM
i don't think he wet himself... like that...
ProfessorCirno @ Oct 12th 2009 5:01PM
Ugh. This is the Baldur's Gate 2 spiritual successor we've been waiting for? It's just ham fistedly bad writing, even worse coive acting, and the whole thing is covered by the most stupifying and immature levels of blood and titties they could ram in.
So that's one lost sale.
CzAr @ Oct 12th 2009 5:06PM
Bioware has gone downhill for me since 2002.
Punkrawk Bbob @ Oct 12th 2009 5:23PM
Uhh... Baldur's Gate's writing is better in your memory because it was so long ago. You just have fond memories of that game and it blurs your memories of how good the writing was. VA's were bad too.
"BUTT KICKING FOR GOODNESS!"
It's kind of how everyone says the new star wars acting/writing was horrible. Go back and watch the originals without bias, the dialog and acting were pretty B material. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but they definitely aren't Oscar material.
joshua.nash @ Oct 12th 2009 5:05PM
yes she did, and she and the red head with bow and arroes are your two possible female love interests in the game, so ask yourself which chick would you want you character to nail, the chick that turns into a giant spider or the chick with the bow and arrows?, personally i'll go with the red head just cause i am deathly afraid of spiders!
Lunastra78 (PSN: lunastra78) @ Oct 12th 2009 5:05PM
I'm considering trading in Fifa 09 (which I don't really play anymore) and Far Cry 2 (which is just plain boring) for this game.
Kel @ Oct 12th 2009 5:15PM
Looks great - gettin' me even more excited for the release next month! Nice to see magic used to this extent in the trailer.
Re: Demon's Souls - looks great (really scary too), but really, it's more of an action/Diablo game than an RPG. I prefer a game like Dragon Age where I can control a party of adventurers, the strategy in that setup is of way more interest to me. Dragon Age appears to have more story and actual role-playing than Demon's Souls (sorry, simply levelling up a character does not a role-playing game make).
Apples and Oranges and I know my preference!
D dogg @ Oct 12th 2009 5:12PM
Everyone is basing their assumptions about a game I've yet to see ANY gameplay on.
If you're going to base your assumptions on anything, base them on the fact this is the same company that made Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire and Mass Effect: 3 of the BEST non-JRPG's I've ever played during my lifetime.
If you're saying you're going to pass on this game, then you're saying you don't like fantasy games because you sure as helll have no clue what the game is like, do you?
