I'm pretty sure its gonna be pretty popular. I mean look at the comments, half of the profile pics are Marios.

Nintendo is crazy for not bundling this game with the Wii's price drop. Sell it for, say, $240.

Nintendo should have a Mario Wii... like a red console with Mario logo. this should come with it.

Why bundle with a smaller price if everyone who owns the system (and their mothers AND grandmothers) will buy the system AND the game for a full price anyway ?

True, but I imagine it would nudge those who are still on the fence about purchasing a Wii.

There's only one thing that could stop this from seeing astronomical sales, and that's the City Folk effect: where a similar console version of a handheld hit is rejected by the market for not being different enough, though i think they are working well at differentiating this game, if only through the promotion of the local multiplayer element.

There already seems to be a lot more anticipation for this than there ever was for Animal Crossing, though. It was pretty obvious from the start that Animal Crossing wasn't exactly going to light up the sales charts, I thought.

That said, I don't NSMBW will do as well as everyone thinks it will. Between the disappointment due to a lack of online and the amount of people who genuinely seem to believe that it's nothing more than a port of the DS game, I can't imagine it selling like the DS version has.
That said, it'll eventually beat Mario Galaxy for sure.

I'll be buying it...

It's like Super Mario Bros. But with multiplayer. How can those NOT sell?

"The side-scrolling-ness makes me think it might?"
"I was referring to the co-op aspect."

Side-scrolling and co-op don't have anything to do with each other. Side-scrolling, like the name implies, is when the screen scrolls sideways (as it does in just about every 2D platformer I can think of). Co-op (aka cooperative play), like the name implies, is when multiple players cooperate to play together. Like I said... completely different topics... that's why no one understood your initial comment.

This game looks sweet and you know all the people that bash the Wii (but for some reason still own one) will buy it, too.

I don't use my Wii much either, but I am for sure picking this one up the day it comes out. They have never gone wrong with the main Mario series. After consistently putting out amazing game after amazing game, this deserves to be bought without even reading a sinlge review.

Another awesome game for me to pick up when the deluge of 360 games this winter and spring have passed and I pick up my shiny new Wii and PS3.
