NintendoWare Weekly: Pinball, Gravitronix, Final Fight 2
Usually, we can't fit all of the titles available for download across Nintendo platforms into the headline, but this week's NintendoWare Weekly post is an exception. Those anxious to get their hands on some digital wares will only find three games available this week -- so in the interest of keeping this train a-chuggin' along, let's get to the details.
DSiWare
DSiWare
- Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon (Nintendo, 1 player, 500 DSi Points): One of the lesser-known things about ancient cultures is that they were actually the first to discover pinball. Using boulders and crude bumpers made from shaved boulders, the ancient tribes of humanity often engaged in pinball. Guess what they used for quarters? Yup, more shaved boulders.
- Gravitronix (Medaverse Studios, 1 - 8 players, 500 Wii Points): It's kinda like Thunderdome-plus-six with Gravitronix, as multiple competitors duke it out in an arena to determine who's the best Gravitronixer. (Protip: It's your friend, Carl. Trust us, don't even try playing him -- he's that good.)
- Final Fight 2 (SNES, 1 -2 players, 800 Wii Points): Haggar is back and even though it has nothing to do with the game, we're totally going to link to that image of him piledriving a shark. What? There's no way we were going to let that slide from this post! Back to the game: you beat up nondescript thugs in alleyways and other seedy backstreet locales.

That has to be one of the most epic dropkicks known to man...
Hulk Hogan would be proud...
NoughtSoClever @ Oct 12th 2009 2:42PM
True, but, why is he flexing?
McBrick @ Oct 12th 2009 12:04PM
Does anyone else miss the over-the-top cheese factor of the 80s/early 90s box art? Haggar is flexing WHILE performing the mid-air two-footed chest kick. That's not just awesome, that's downright RAD.

Haggar doesn't sound so tough. Yeah, he can piledrive an innocent shark, but with a voice like that I think I can take him.
butaneko @ Oct 12th 2009 12:15PM
Man even I want to stab Haggar - I can see where that guy's coming from. Who comes all oiled up to a street fight?
Shagittarius @ Oct 12th 2009 12:23PM
I wonder if the ESRB rated this one 'F' for Fabulous!

When the fuck are Nintendo going to release Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, and Final Fantasy VI to Virtual Console?
David Hinkle @ Oct 12th 2009 12:37PM
Super Mario RPG is actually already on there.
Wardo @ Oct 12th 2009 12:58PM

Damn that box art makes me want to play it even though I hate final Fight.
GewurztraminerX @ Oct 12th 2009 1:07PM
Final Fight made me get a Genesis.
CJLopez @ Oct 12th 2009 1:25PM
it though genesis never got final fight, hence why they got Street of Rage (which, in my opinion, is 10times better than FF except for 3)
GewurztraminerX @ Oct 12th 2009 2:03PM
My point exactly, though I exaggerate a bit. In order to determine where I would go from my NES I rented (on separate weekends):
- The SNES, Super Mario World and Final Fight
- The Genesis, Sonic the Hedgehog and Toejam & Earl
In the end I chose the Genesis mostly because TJ&E was a lot of fun and I saw potential in Sonic, even though I wasn't any good at it at first. But also because SMW and FF seem short and simple by comparison. I eventually had both, but still, I got the Genesis first.
samfish [is sad there is no Gene in Tats v Cap =( ] @ Oct 12th 2009 1:18PM
Whaa..? Final Fight 2 was SNES exclusive? I could have SWORE there was an arcade version of it...
