We've got some good news for anyone already feeling just a bit overwhelmed by the impending holiday game season. Toys R Us is running a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sale this week for all video games. Even better, the sale also covers accessories and items like Microsoft Points cards. Intrepid NeoGAFers have even uncovered some pre-orders that qualify for the promotion (any Dark Void or Bayonetta fans out there?). The sale ends Saturday, October 17, so hop to it if you're looking to save some cash.

Going to Toy R Us today. They probably will be sold out of Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend, though.

Except Demon's Souls, which they don't have at all :(
Anyway I'm about to go there to get Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, and I guess NBA 2k10...then find a place to swap it for store credit so I can order Demon's Souls online (which is apparently the only place it exists!)
Maybe later in the week I'll use the deal to get 3 Wii games too, probably Rune Factory Frontier, Little King's Story, and maybe either Galaxy or Zelda.

Toys R Us commonly doesn't carry titles with mature themes in them. Weaksauce...

@tmac - don't be a dick... just get gift receipts and exchange the games at Toys R Us when the ones you want come out. You have 45 days which puts you in time for most of the good games coming out in the next month and a half. What you're doing is fraud and if caught can land you jail time.
@kentuckyfried - I was there just today and they had lots of M games... they just have a huge ass label on them stating so. Just make sure you're over 17 when you buy them.

Good luck finding Uncharted 2 or Brutal Legend. I just checked their online store, and both are listed as backordered. I may stop by later today, but if they don't have them in stock, I'm not going to mess with trying to get a pre-order for free.
Actually, I just saw that MAG is listed on there...I could go for some free MAG....to the Toys R Us~!
Nevermind, just saw on the TRU website that it specifically states "Excludes Pre-Orders". Ultra-meh.
Hmm...is there a game currently out that I wouldn't mind having for free? I was going to buy UC2 and BL today anyway....hmm....Bayonetta?

Just paid 112 dollars for Uncharted 2, and Brutal Legend (with the 15 dollar off code). Got Bayonetta for free. It's a shame that the deal doesn't work on pre-orders, but I'll take a free game any day of the week.
I hope they do this deal again in November.

Edit: I put the cart before the horse. Apparently Bayonetta isn't working, despite CAG listing it.
Meh
What else can I get free -_-

That's the thing, they don't have Demon's Souls and they're not going to. So I did what I had to do to get it.
And btw there were lots of mature games there, had plenty of copies of brutal legend and uncharted 2 as well.

@ oblivious
TRU's around my area will frequently will sometimes not carry mature titles. Maybe they've changed their tune, but they def. don't have Demon's Souls (too obscure). I can't remember what title I had trouble finding, I think it was Manhunt 2 a long time ago (then again, that title was terrible so no worries on that one).
I picked up the next to last copy of Uncharted 2! Only downside is trying to finagle a series of returns to Amazon. -_-

Tmac, that's still return fraud and is illegal. I told you yesterday, instead of doing return fraud you can go to BestBuy and ask if they'll price match the TRU deal for you. They might have Demon's Souls there, call and ask. If they do, you can just get your 3 games without the hassle of stealing, ya know?

@ obvlivious and SpaceFox
I'm really curious how returning a game you purchased legally could ever be considered fraud? Walmart has a pretty open policy for accepting returned merchandise from other retail outlets. He isn't planning on opening the game, he didn't steal it, and he isn't attempting to get more from his initial purchase than he originally got. He is talking about buying 3 games on a sale, and then exchanging 1 of those games for a game or its value at a different establishment. Absolutely nothing illegal is being done here. You misunderstand return fraud, he is essentially keeping 1 full priced game and 1 free game, while exchanging the 2nd full price game. Whether it is at a different retailer means nothing, it has to do with that retailers specific return policy on whether they accept products purchased at other retailers, ie do they require a receipt from their own stores.

yeah others are reporting the same thing. i think the microsoft point cards are showing up as gift cards at the register rather than video game accessories therefore they do not qualify. supposedly some are saying if you can find any of the older point cards in the plastic packaging, those are working for the buy 2 get 1 free. but again the gift cards that are just on the shelf (aka not in any packaging) will not work.

Quick follow up, I just checked the TrU site, and they do list the points cards as part of the sale. So if you go into one, I would suggest taking a printout of the website in to prove that they should be eligible.

@ Courtney
The manager looked it up and still couldn't adjust the price on the cards. It's as if once they are scanned, you can't adjust their price. He said he would give it to me without scanning it but that would make it useless.
Their customer service dept is aware and apparently looking into it. Obviously the Points are in the sale or they wouldn't be sold out online.

The cards deactivate when the sale removes their cost from the transaction. That's the issue they're looking into (according to my TRU yesterday). The solution mine gave, which I'll make sure they follow through on, is that they gave me two cards @ $40, and will either call once the bug is worked out to pick it up, or order one from the website and ship it to me.
The 4000 point cards that come in plastic packaging are unaffected as they don't require activation at the register.

Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend are backordered on TRU's site right now, and if the past few year's sales are any indication...they won't be available online again until the deal's over, coincidentally.

I too noticed that Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend are backordered, with expected ship dates in 2-4 weeks [!].
However, it appears you can still purchase them on the website now and get the deal. I've got those two games, plus another 360 game in my cart right now and it shows that I'm only paying for two.

I think I'm about to do the following:
2 copies of Uncharted 2
1 copy of Brutal Legend
15 dollar off coupon
Total: 110.00
Then I'll sell my other copy of Uncharted on Ebay for 50 bucks and come out of this shenanigan having spent 60 bucks on Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend, essentially making one of them free.

Apparently it works with DJ Hero for PS3. Too bad there aren't 2 other games I want to get. Then I could get all three games for only $180.

If you're getting both Uncharted games, that wont work. The free game is of equal or lesser value of the cheapest game you bought. So, since Uncharted 1 is $30, you can only get a game thats less than or equal to $30.

Well I could get 2 full price games and get the first Uncharted as the free game.
My question was more asking if Uncharted 2 was included in the promotion because it's a brand new game.
Depending on how the sale works they may not include a game that was released today.
I'll find out at the end of the week.

Great reminder! thx. Don't forget to grab an ad and head over to Walmart, btw...
(only thing I don't like about that is how ghetto the Walmarts in our area are, some people were arrested when I went to visit).
