"seeking "a few additions to our engine team in order to add support for an unannounced console platform,"

yeah. Wii HD confirmed i guess. there's no way they're talking about a console from MS or Sony.

This early? It's only been 4 years since the 360 came out! There's also Natal that's coming early next year.

Guess what mahoneko, the Xbox launched in late 2001 and the 360 in 2005, 4 years later! Most console generations last 5-6 years though such as PS1 from 95 to 00, N64 from 96 to 01, but PS2 from 00 to 06.

Oh yeah, it did launch in 2001. I only remembered the DC launch followed by the PS2's launch a year later. I'm not really sure why I kept thinking that the Xbox came out at the same time as the PS2, probably because of all the Xbox machines that were at the dorms.

Ready at Dawn were the shining beacon of game development on the PSP. Chains of Olympus showed what a capable team they are. Daxter was no slouch either.

Ok, first off, he confirmed the engine will support ALL hardware platforms, without specifically stating the Wii. He then declined to comment on the "new" hardware platform they're developing for.

This is pretty much confirmation of a Wii2. Expect to see it revealed at E3 2010.

Too soon, i say. TGS 2010, maybe. For a late 2011 launch, but no sooner. Nintendo's just now starting to get the third party software support they've been seeking, they're not going to cut that off by killing off the platform so soon.

The 'X' in XBox is derived of the 'X' in DirectX. If it makes it to 360 it'll most likely hit PC as long as the copyrights and what not are taken care of. The 360 I believe uses Direct X 9 so whenever XBox720 hits it'll use the latest DirectX as well.

And then DirectX 11.1 comes out and the third generation of the Xbox line is screwed.

definatly Wii 2/HD.. A guess at the spec...

1.66ghz dual core 'Broadway Advance'
256 main memory,
400mhz gpu with 128mb GDDR3 'Holywood HD'
4gb of flash memory storage..

about as powerful as 2-3 Wii's ductaped together..
