It would be an absolute shame for the video game industry if the Wii Fit surpassed Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

How is it a shame for the industry that it has a $90 game about to sell 8 million copies?

DBuck_Eye Wii Fit isn't a fucking game, GTA is a game (overrated but still a game).

You're full of crap, Cheezie, if you think San Andreas was the best GTA. SA was a snooze-fest. It could have been a decent game if they hadn't made all the extra crap mandatory (eating, working out, etc), but with all that crap added in they took what could have been a fantastic game and ruined it. GTAIV is the best GTA game so far, followed very closely by GTA3 (all in my opinion, of course).

Chyld989 is on crack ¬_¬ If anything, the realism of GTA4 ruined the mood for me, it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, it was supposed to be a fun game, like it used to be, San Andreas was fun, nothing beats bungie jumping from a jumbo jet while spawning tanks in mid air to see which lands first, causing chaos with a fighter jet, and shooting people from on top a train while on riot mode with everyone after you.

yes it is a shame because your wasting 90 bucks to excersize when you can just go to the park or your backyard and play some football

SA was my favorite GTA. Don't get me wrong, I certainly enjoyed GTA IV to the tune of 35ish hours, but I didn't like it as much. I actually threw it again last night just to screw around in it and grab some more cheevos. In doing so, I was reminded that in my opinion the characters and voices are AWFUL, the story was terrible and uninspired, and that it just doesn't have the 'go dick around and do whatever' kind of fun I felt in SA. SA had more character, comfier feel.

I liked the dumb, even sometimes seemingly banal things in SA

Long roadies through Whetstone and Flint County going from A to B

Tricking out cars and stupid hatchbacks in San Fierro and just rocketing across the bridge to Tierra Robada

Cruising the strip in Las Venturas and jacking nice cars, and taking a jet over Bone County

David Cross

Etc.

And there wasn't a necessity on things you "had" to do. My dude was always a string bean, while I remember thinking how weird it was when I first stopped over at my brothers and CJ was as muscled out as could be.

I'm out

Holy hell I should point out the original reason I wanted to post. SO WHAT IF IT PASSES GTA SA IN SALES!? IT MEANS NOTHING FOR GODSSAKES, SERIOUSLY WHO CARES!? This is not some final indictment that the industry is failing, that you uptight twat self-proclaimed "hard core" gamers are a dying breed. It's meaningless. It means software x passed software y.

And sony boy, I know you're only 10 years old, but different people like to exercise in different ways. I'm sure you'll learn that someday. I can run on a stupid treadmill with a TV and cable in it for an hour, but I can't compel myself to run outside without stopping to walk for more than 10 to 15 minutes. I'm active, I play kickball, volleyball, other sports, but some ways of working out work great for some, not so much for others.

To generalize that you can just 'go play football' as a solution for everyone is just dumb. Wii Fit works for some people, and some people just like it regardless, who effing cares.

Yes, I'm bashing GTA:SA for having a lot of extra crap that you had to do, but praising GTA IV because you didn't HAVE to do most of it. There was no working out. I didn't have to eat to stay healthy, but be careful of how much I ate for fear of getting fat.

Sure, GTA IV had a bunch of extra stuff, but you weren't forced to do 90% of it.

I didn't have to work on my weapon skills for each type of weapon by sitting and shooting a tire for 20 minutes with each gun.

GTA IV was fun because we weren't FORCED to do it.

That's nice...I'm glad you enjoy seeing the death of the industry. It won't matter what devs want if their bosses see this and say "This makes money, therefore you shall make games like that."

It's true. This is the first genre to ever make a crapton of money. Copycats will destroy the industry, much like superhero movies and romantic comedies destroyed the movie industry.

You are so wise.

Romantic comedies are about the only original things out any more, and they aren't even that original themselves ¬_¬ Everything else is based badly on a game, book, remake, real life event, comic or something that has been done before, and once someone creates something new, everyone copies it to death.

Jennifer's Body sucked, no, I don't care that Megan Fox was in it, that was no excuse for it to be so utter turd.

Transformers 2 would've been better if it weren't for the super long talking scenes. Seriously, Transformers should be one giant fight scene. Who cares about whatever the stupid humans, I went to see Transformers for robots. Why can't they make a movie that's just CGI robots?

So Wii Play doesn't "count" because it was packed in eh?

Guess you can't count any numbers from Rock Band or Guitar Hero then either.

Don't be stupid, there's a difference between a terrible piece of software being given away with a game controller and a piece of software being sold with a required peripheral.

Wii Fit=/= a game. That's like saying the old BASIC editor for the Atari is a game. They're both add-on software that uses the console for a purpose other than gaming.

Of course, that BASIC editor never called you a 'fat fat fatty'.

I dont know if its been done before but I think that would make a great premise. You start out on top and then some sort of revolt or coup takes place and you have to build yourself back up to the top making new friends, enemies, and meeting soulless sex bitches along the way. Has this been done? Cause if not, I'd like to see it happen....

That's cool. I use(d) "game" in quotation marks when writing about non-games like GTA, too.

If we're not going to hold games to real standards, the way we did in the 80s and 90s, I've got no problem letting Wii Fit and Wii Play in.
