Earthworm Jim on iPhone looks familiar

If the graphical improvements aren't more obvious in the WiiWare release, then the only real difference between the game on Virtual Console and WiiWare will be one extra level and difficulty selection. Awkward!

While Earthworm Jim came a bit after it, I think I enjoyed Aladdin a bit more back in the day. Both were gorgeous games at the time, regardless.
MystileArmor @ Oct 14th 2009 11:40PM
SNES version or Sega Genesis version?

On the subject of gorgeous games, have you ever played Melty Blood or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure?
MystileArmor @ Oct 14th 2009 11:44PM
Never even heard of either one... =/

I don;t blame you. I just discovered them recently. Both top notch 2D fighters with gorgeous animation.

Never heard of either? I only had a Genesis at that point. At the age I was back when I had a Genesis, being a multiple console owner meant you had either a SNES or a Genesis, and then your best pal would have the other :P

See, I was always at the arcade. Street Fighter was my lifeblood, man.

Aladdin was great on Genesis. It was surprising to see such a good licensed game at the time.

i had aladdin for the game boy color, and i loved it to death. fun game. i was like 5 though, so i have no idea how good it actually is. haha...
MystileArmor @ Oct 14th 2009 11:59PM
Yeah, I had a SNES, but you gotta understand I didn't even know about the damn thing till it turned up in my living room the day it came out. I still remember it. My dad had put Super Mario World in a box. I unwrapped it and went like "Ehm.. dad... geez, this is a fake game, this doesn't fit in my NES." Then he told me to go try it anyways, and he had replaced the NES with the SNES.

Oh man. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is excellent! Those characters were fantastic.

If they implement the accelerometer for the submarine part, watch out for insane people roaming the streets looking to crack some skulls. God I love that game, but I hated that part.
Recently me and my gf's brother have been playing up to Snot a Problem and we can just not get past the 3rd part. Anyone got any tips?
MystileArmor @ Oct 15th 2009 12:01AM
Yeah, play with you gf instead of her brother, and save the games for whenever she's gone.
sicsided @ Oct 15th 2009 12:12AM
Actually she prefers to kick my ass in puzzle quest, and hell no, I just finally got him to buy l4d1 and 2 so we can lan or online. Plus need him for testing out my maps.

Tip 1: Stop sucking.
Tip 2: Draw him close to the wall by falling right next to it and move just as he attacks by slowing down. Then speed up and go 'round his other side and push him into the wall, as he will be where you just were.
I can't believe I remembered that, having not played the game in twelve years or so at least.
NaeemTHM @ Oct 15th 2009 12:02AM
I remember that game being a pain in the ass with physical controls, I can't imagine how unplayable it is on a touch screen.
I can't wait for Command & Conquer for the iPhone later this month though.
TriviumSuffocationTheBlackDahliaMurderLambOfGod @ Oct 15th 2009 12:22AM
I spent MANY hours with my big ol' Gameboy and EWJ back in the day. I was sad to see the franchise decline and die, but it seems that the digital distribution outlets are allowing devs to bring back the classics. EWJ and RKA. Can't wait.
Hiroken @ Oct 15th 2009 3:56AM
Needs to hit PSN/XBL first. I don't want to even attempt Jim on iPhone.

Sorry for the double post.

is the screen caspture creepy? or is the game frame rate? earth worm jim is so fluid, and this deosnt sound like the one on the Snes, ...even for a Snes sound was great :-) " yippieeee"..." Who0000a, Nelly" ;-)
Shadow Hog @ Oct 15th 2009 8:20AM
I thought they'd said that this was going to include "Tommy Tallarico's soundtrack" from the Sega CD version, not that shitty remix they'd shown many months back. Guess I was wrong.
And Jim's replacement voice still sucks. Could they not have gotten Doug TenNapel again? Or (even more unlikely) Dan Castellaneta?
whylekat @ Oct 15th 2009 10:02AM
Who voiced the cartoon? Anyone remember? I'm too lazy to wiki it. =P
Shadow Hog @ Oct 15th 2009 12:22PM
Dan Castellaneta, a.k.a. "that guy who does Homer Simpson's voice". Hence why I mentioned him.
nickux @ Oct 15th 2009 6:32PM
see that little virtual touch-screen joystick on the left side of the screen? Exactly why I would never buy this game. I need a real d-pad. That's not to say all iPhone games don't work because they're touch-based. I just want games that are built for the use of touch rather than games being shoe-horned to fit the platform. I've tried games that use this virtual control but it never feels right to me.
