We're currently following up with Alientrap for more details about the game, which is currently seeking play testers on PC. Check out the first trailer, which isn't shy on the gameplay footage, after the break.
Indie title 'Capsized' shows off gameplay; tipping onto XBLA, PC in 2010

Indie developer Alientrap's Capsized has certainly captured our attention with its art style. IndieGames took note of the title and its early footage, which is giving off an Exile and Metroid vibe, but its lush setting and arcade-like action appears to separate it from that pack. The game is planned for a 2010 launch on Steam and XBLA.

I welcome all Metroidvania games...

It may seem like a Metroidvania game at first, though if you have ever played the game Soldat, you would think of that first. The controls and gameplay seem exactly like Soldat, of course with the Metroid-style organic alien stuff.

That video was very cool. I also welcome any Metroidvania-style games. I love the exploration involved. I just hope the gameplay mechanics are sound. I notice a lot of interesting ideas in the XBLA indie titles, but many of them seem to have some poor gameplay mechanics.

The gameplay reminded me a lot of Crash Commando on PSN.

Hey its master chief in 2D, at least that's what I thought when I saw the picture.

Prior to watching the video, the game interested me quite a bit. Unfortunately, I've lost interest based off of the control scheme (watching the crosshair movement, it doesn't look all that great to use). I'm still going to be playing it and I hope that it lives up for me.

Lol, the intro is just like Mertroid, sans "The Galaxy is at Peace" part.

Really it looks more like Codename: Gordon than anything else, even to the extent of having a generally Flash-like appearance. The gameplay looks fun but maybe a bit too sloppy - it's interesting that the person playing the trailer looks like they're struggling not to constantly take damage.
Overall it looks pretty fun, though we'll wait it out and see what people think after playing it.

I am liking this current emphasis on the STYLE of visuals. This, Machinarium and Lucidity all touch me in my special place.

Wasnt that interested until about a min and 8 seconds in when he lifts the block using the grapple and jet pack, then it got interesting and pretty sweet.

This games art looks beautiful! It looks like some kind of fusion between metroid, metal slug, and bangaii o! I can't wait.

I'm glad to see a new wave of indie games coming out. The kind of fun we knew and enjoyed in the past have finally came back to us through these indie games.

The graphic style and level layouts remind me of Aquaria, another Metroidvania game.
I'll probably buy it on Steam.

The art also caught my attention. Typical shit art from an indie game.

Pshaw.... like anyone on joystiq knows what Exile is....
I love that the comments on every other site are all excited about another game like Exile... and all the joystiq comments are talking about Halo. I think that sums something up... ;-)

It reminds me more of Abuse than anything else, though Soldat isn't a bad comparison either.
Visually this gets me thinking more of Grapple Buggy. Cutesy and off-putting at the same time
