Koei drops assets, plot details for Fist of the North Star Musou
51
Koei recently sent over a handful of screenshots from its recently announced video game adaptation of the Fist of the North Star anime series, Hokuto Musou, which is due out in Japan in 2010. Thankfully for those of us who aren't manga aficionados, these screens were accompanied by a brief primer on the series' plot. We won't bore you with the entire premise, but instead offer you this highlight from Koei's description:
"Channeling their energy into a single deadly blow, players can strike their victims and cause them to violently explode on screen. Gamers can also let loose with Kenshiro's signature move- a ruthless flurry of ferocious punches, triggering the instantaneous breakdown of internal organs, and death."
Yes, please.

The holes in his body which look deceptively like misplaced nipples in that shot above, are in fact scars on his (Ken) body in the shape of the little bear inflicted on him by one of his mortal enemies.
Those scars are what make him iconic to some degree.
TMI, I know... but I'm a fan x]

Fist Of The North Star was my first Anime when I was a kid. I really love(d) the movie.
I also really liked the recent Arc System Works 'Hokuto no Ken' (Japanese name for FOTNS) fighting game too... so I'm keeping a keen eye open for this title.
Yay.

Yes I agree. That movie had a healthy amount of head explosions.

Just to be clear: The animated movie was epic. The live action movie sucked walrus balls.

Oh man... I never actually knew of the live action movie and went to look it up after reading that comment... what has been seen cannot be un-seen :(
That really does look like it sucks Camel scrotum. Mind, I don't think FOTNS has any place in real-world anything. Should be confined to books, animated works and games in my humblest of opinions.
btw. no idea if it's been mentioned yet but there's a video of this game

Anyone remember Last Battle on Sega Genesis? I haven't played a game based on Fist of the North Star since that one.

I'm not a big fan of Koei's games, but I must admit that this looks pretty damn awesome. I just hope it offers more than their other favorite titles (ie: Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors). Those titles are a little too shallow, imo.

I have the NES cart of the original Fist of the North Star game, but I had found an unofficial translation online that was a lot better than the official release. It was better probably due to Nintendo's censoring things back then (example: The Baron stripper in Final Fantasy IV/II SNES)

Gotta at least be better than "Last Battle" for the Genesis.

There are times when I'm glad that the we live in the same blu-ray region as Japan. If this game proves to be good, I may end up importing it.

Well technically men aren't suppose to have nipples....reasons why we still do are a bit too deep for a gaming blog. But it does seem weird to have all that detail on scars and yet leave out something as basic as that.
