Ever wonder how Uncharted protagonist Nathan Drake got so darn pithy? Curious how he developed his Spider-Man-like acrobatic finesse? Want to know how he met up with his cigar-chomping partner in crime, Victor Sullivan? All these questions and more will (probably) be answered in the next piece of Uncharted errata coming from developer Naughty Dog: A motion comic set before the events of the first game, titled Uncharted: Eye of Indra.
The project was announced during yesterday's PlayStation.Blog live chat with Naughty Dog's Travis McIntosh and Neil Druckmann. According to them, the motion comic will be voiced by many of the actors from the game series, and focuses on "a prequel story that we eventually cut" from Uncharted 2. We hope the story reaches back far enough to show when Nate's mother taught him how to dress himself in such a slapdash manner.

If Ken Kutaragi were here, he'd probably say too many people own a PS3 to buy it.

No way man the prequel should be done as an PSN game in the same vein of Ratchet And Clank Quest For Booty. Make it $15 and a few hours long ... thats the best approach. I'm a huge PSP fan but I don't think Uncharted would work very well on the platform. Just my 2 cents ...

thats the thing...I would want WAAAAY more than just a 3-5 hour game....the only thing about doing it on PSP would be the camera....aside from that they could do it

No I don't think so at all. The graphics engine, the game mechanics, the story itself etc ... would be much more than just the camera.
If it's only $15 then there is no problem with it only being a few hours long yet still keeping the same production values and feel of Uncharted 2 on the PS3.
The only way I can see Uncharted on the PSP is if they make it totally different ... like a 2-D sidescroller instead of a 3-D game.
It just wouldn't work on the PS3 ... Sad but true.
I'm not finished with Uncharted 2 yet but I can't see it being much longer than 10-12 hours ... I'm 65% through and I'm at about 6-7 hours. So, making a downloadable Uncharted Prequel that was say 3-4 hours long would be perfect especially for only $15 in price.
We all want the experience to never stop or never end but if they go on and make it a 7-8 hour game it's in that tweener territory ... here's a thought - how about a prequel done as an expansion instead of a standalone download? The events between Uncharted & Uncharted 2 ... They could make it 6-7 hours and charge say $20 for it ... I know it's not a prequel we are talking about but still would be very cool to see what happened between Drake & Eleana (Unless they just haven't shown it yet in UC 2) and some cool little mission between the two of them related to both. That would be really cool.

I get what you are saying...I just want more story than that...I mean I'd rather have a GOOD long story than PS3 Quality Graphics.....I mean GoW:Chains of Olympus wasn't that bad on graphics at all

Without duel analogs, it wouldn't really work. well. Chains of Olympus was fantastic on the PSP, both in graphics and gameplay, but the second analog stick is vital to the controls in Uncharted. Without it the game would be completely different. The platforming sections might be fine, but the shooting gameplay would be ruined.

uhhhh when Uncharted has over 5 games(at least 1 of which being a kart game), condoms, cereal, a saturday morning cartoon, toys, clothing, energy drinks, and a fat guy gets Nathan Drake tattooed on his arm then I don't see how you can say that

Really, you can't compare Uncharted to Gears. Yea they're third person shooters, and both have cover systems, but Uncharted is extremely different than Gears in pretty much every other way.

I agree Dr. Bradwart ... I started playing at about 8:30 last night and the next thing I knew it was 2:30 in the morning! The game is probably the best made game ever. It has so much going for it that it's really not even like a videogame ... in fact my fiance was watching me play and she even said something to the effect of "this isn't like the other games I've seen you play, this is more like art or a cinematic experience." She also mentioned how she hadn't seen graphics that good in a videogame ever ... and I agree. What blows me away is the scale and scope of the environments. It never feels like there was a corner cut in the game. It seems like some painstaking attention to detail for this one. I love the first Uncharted to bits but this one just blows it out of the water in every way.
In terms of the Gears Of War reference - thats not accurate at all. As Carmel said they are both 3rd person shooters with cover mechanics but thats where the similarities end. Uncharted is built around the story and the characters where as Gears is built around the multiplayer. Uncharted also has a few different elements of gameplay with the traversing / climbing mechanics, platforming, puzzle solving, 3rd person shooter w/cover and a fairly deep melee system. It's not like Geaqrs where the melee is just like the same animation every time.
Uncharted has that horde type mode where the enemies keep coming and you need to get th treasure ... it's decent but not as good as Horde mode imo. I also think while the multiplayer in Uncharted 2 is really good it's more run and gun than Gears of War. I still think Resistance 2 has the best co-op this generation and while both Gears and Uncharted are solid efforts they aren't to that level of customization.
So basically Uncharted 2 is Sony's ... Uncharted. There really isn't another game thats like it. My favorite part about the game is exploring.
Best stage is the one with Tenzen imo ... thats my favorite this far anyway.

You know, I was thinking as I played last night that the 'started in the middle' fashion of the original game gives Naughty Dog some great room for future games. I'd love to see a prequel game, or a game featuring a much older Drake... really do some cool things with his overall storyline.
I hope the release of crummy motion comics doesn't crush my dreams...

I only made it to the Jungle in Borneo last night (have to wait for the wife and kids to go to sleep before I can play) and Uncharted 2 is freaking AWESOME!!! I find myself standing there, getting shot all to hell 'cause I'm using the camera to look at all the surroundings... This is the best looking game I've ever played.
Posted: Oct 14th 2009 2:37PM Johnnynumber5 is powered by cell said
I agree that the game is just absolutely beautiful to look at ... even the Napal section after Borneo is beautiful for being so ugly ... my favorite part of the game (I won't give anything away) is when you go into the village and meet up with Tenzen. That village and then the expedition afterwards are my favorite stages.

I picked up Uncharted 2 during the TRU B2G1 sale yesterday and played the first 9 chapters straight through last night. At this point I'd love to learn more about Drake's backstory so this prequel motion comic sounds good, especially given the voice talent..
Incidentally, Uncharted 2 is probably the most amazing-looking game I've played, on top of being incredibly witty, charming and tons of fun. There isn't anything about this game that doesn't scream polish. Instant recommendation for anyone with a PS3.

This is one of those games that I cannot stop playing... And one of the few times I've finished a campaign and felt really accomplished.

The first game basically revolved around the origin story of that ring.
If you want to know I'll put it down here just incase you plan on playing Uncharted 1
SPOILER ABOUT THE RINGS ORIGIN IN UNCHARTED1
It was Sir Francis Drakes ring (Nathan Drakes decendent) and had coordinates for the location of el dorado enscribed on it. Thats basically the origin of it. If you want more detail go play the first game because thats all I can remember.
