PSA: Amazon 'buy 3 for 2' sale on select games this week

Online retailer Amazon is having a "buy two, get the third game free" deal this week – ending this Saturday, October 17 – on select titles. The qualifying selection is impressive, with plenty of worthwhile games, new and old, making the cut. While we're at it, we might as well reiterate that Toys "R" Us is featuring the exact same deal this week. We have no idea if the competing sale is a coincidence, but we're more than happy to take advantage of good deals.

Well, free super saver shipping vs. $4 to drive across town to the Toys R Us. I think you're absolutely right.

Plus majority of the newer titles are $5 cheaper right off
the bat! I think toysRus just got trumped!!

The only thing making me reluctant to take this offer is the fact Demon Souls and Uncharted 2 are not included. I'm still wondering if I should get Little Kings Story and Rune Factory for the Wii instead, thoughts?

I pre-ordered Uncharted 2 a few months back when they were giving out $5 off coupons, I also got one from last years Qore subscription, so it came out to $50 w/free shipping. Only thing is, I don't get it until next week. But I'm patient.

well I only buy at Amazon, so the title really got me excited. to bad there was no third game to add (also whichever it would be, the one i wanted the most is Tools of destruction and it would mean a mere $26 saving on this one, so no big deal here...) i guess ill wait for Amazon to this same sale in 6 months or so and get all those games i am and will be missing this months (exclusives only, for multiplat i get em better on PC)

well, seeing as a majority of the games i was going to get at toys R us are not there, i'm sticking to going there sometimes this weekend so that i can get 1. uncharted 2 and 2. have it instantly.

I got Batman: AA (360), Uncharted 2 and Flashpoint 2 at TRU. I'm thinking about maybe selling the 360 version of Flashpoint for the PC version. Hmmm.

you played Flashpoint yet?? any good?

I just picked up flashpoint last night. it's decent. it's very different for a shooter. It's almost like a RTS but in FPS mode. You do all of your shooting from far away and call in airstrikes and howitzer strikes from afar it's interesting. You die with one or two shots so a lot of planning can be wasted if you just rush in with out searching the surrounding area. It's good, but takes some getting used to.

That's how the first Flashpoint was. The biggest game I would compare it to as far as 1-2 shots, and almost no close quarters combat would be Red Orchestra. If you get seen, you're dead.

Pen to paper = Co-signature on Heavenly Sword. Amazing, eh? I don't get that but I actually still want to get the game sooner or later. I WOULD get to grabbing off this list for the PS3 but it would be wise for me not to. Why couldn't this sale be happening next week??? Oh, well, back to Unchartered 2....

yea Heavenly Sword came out in '07....and has SOLD OVER a million units!!!

It SHOULD be a "Greatest Hits" game and no more than $30 now....its a good game but GEEEEEEEEEEEEZ....

I hope Ninja Theory does the sequel soon...or Sony sources it out to another Dev

Any game where the main character can't JUMP should be discounted upon release.

at least Heavenly Sword was a 1st gen release.. So there's an excuse. But in 2009 games make characters without the ability to get high...

a Character such as Batman should jump...I still don't fully understand why they didn't make him do that....I mean HE....IS...BATMAN!!!!

Why would Batman need to jump if he already has the grappling hook?

The new Mystery Dungeon ones? I heard they were pretty bad. I got Soul Silver and it's AMAZING. I had to import it for $60, but it was really worth it.

The only good Fushigi no Dungeon is Shiren. I meant Platinum.

Yeah, I've been playing Soul Silver for a while now and I love it. Silver was the best pokemon game. As for the mysterious dungeon games, they arent the greatest, but they are not terrible. With the spin offs the ranger titles seem to be better, but I dont think a new one is coming out for a while.

Sounds like a great deal for a fairly good selection of titles. Add in Amazon's free shipping and it sweetens the deal.

There is an Amazon Canada, I'd imagine that they ship to Canada without any sort of penalty.

Yeah I didn't even see Fallout at TRU either, the GOTY or the original version. Why doesn't anybody want to give this game away?

I would do it, but I just got a $110 speeding ticket...

Last time I was at TRU, they had red bands on Mature rated games. I don't know if they do that everywhere, but I would not buy any M games from TRU.

That's only on display cases... read carefully, they say they're empty. They just do that on items that sit out on the shelves so parents see it. The actual games don't have the red label.

Oh, okay. I never looked closely and never really did think that they would actually sell any that way. It was just one of those passing glance kindof things.

I was about to leave for Toys R Us when I saw this story. I was all "oOoh! Demon's Souls free with purchase of Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend? Shazam!". Turns out none of them are part of this deal. Off to Toys R Us I go.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the selection here, myself.

What bothers me more, though, is that sorting by price (either way) does not seem to work...

Sorting by price uses the lowest used price.

More importantly sorting by name seems to be impossible.

If you haven't picked up Muramasa yet, I highly recommend it.

Even though I don't have a Wii, I've played the JPN version when it came out and I loved every bit of it. The art direction is beautiful and the combat's combo system isn't that hard to master. I mean, it's made by the same people who did Odin's Sphere if that helps. I've heard people complain that the storyline isn't as good or well-translated as Odin Sphere and that might be because of the last-minute change in publisher. But either way, it's a worthy investment for people who have a Wii system.

As neither Amazon nor Toys R Us has Fallout 3 GOTY as part of their deals, I'm out of luck. Oh well...

No PC games?!?!?!.... ***spits in a cup...

Those games are free anyway
