Harnessing the power of Nintendo franchises for charity, the folks at TripleSpeedRunners will be spending 48 hours this weekend speed-running through games from the Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and Kirby series. Live streaming of the event will be handled on the crew's website, with live commentary and chat available to cheer the players -- or jeer 'em if you're a player hater.
All proceeds from donations during the event will go to DC Outreach, an organization that provides worldwide support to families affected by Dyskeratosis Congenita. Last time TSR got together, it raised $1,140 for the DC charity, but we know with the full support of the Joystiq BioMass behind them we can help them double that. Right, folks?
The speed-runs kick off this Friday at 7PM ET sharp.

As they say:

It ain't dead. I would say it's dead once the new system comes out and it still didn't come out for the Wii.
It came out for the DS, early on, but it was still on the system. So Nintendo's late on it, they're usually late.

I can't imagine any of these series would be too hard to speed-run.
Unless Kirby's Dream Course is included.

Um. Why won't they just join Extra Life this year? It's also a gaming marathon, and it is also happening this weekend.

If I gave to every single charity that we wrote about on our front page, I'd be giving out an awful lot of money on a pretty regular basis. The idea behind my comment was to say that us drawing attention to the charity should help raise more money. Sorry if you thought it was a directive or something! I'm strongly considering donating $5 just for you though, so you know.

but Kirby did have superstar ultra last year........
the other two however are just sitting there, unless Nintendo has them coming to 2010's E3 which would be awesome but highly doubtful......
