I really don't get the point of these types of videos;
nevertheless, I consider smashmywii.com to be a classic, LOL

I agree, I don't get the point either.

Whom ever made the first one of these videos was at least original but now this seems to be done to death.

It's not funny and it's not shocking and the waste is just idiotic.

Waste is subjective. To some, having a PSP Go and not using after month is a waste. Others find that destroying NES carts for the sake of a stupid mod is not waste.

If it's current hardware/junk being destroyed, power to them, but leave the OOP stuff alone.

i pretty much agree with calgaryalta. i was waiting for some sort of punchline, and when it came i was just angry that the guys at Mega64 wasted $300 and 3 minutes of my time. i liked the music, though.

Eh, I find the video kinda humorous, but not really funny.

What bothers me is how that $300 could have BEEN spent otherwise.

Maybe it's the music, but the first thought that came to mind is that this video was a take off on this season's first episode of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry David receives a GPS and can't open the theft resistant clear plastic packaging. He later buys a knife to open the GPS packaging, but doesn't realize until later the knife is also in clear plastic packaging.

Agreed. It's gone past making a video like this to be ironic. Everyone knows it cant play UMD's. The only ppl not to know this WOULD be money wasting, console trashing video making douchebags like the afore-mentioned Mega64.

Kudos for idiocy.

I really don't get this in any way either. The world knows it can't play UMDs and it seems an awful waste of $300. Couldn't they have made this video with a fake destruction and donated the system to some kid who could otherwise never afford it?

Sorry but I hate to waste money at any time let alone in this day & age.

I am in awe too but in a sort of..... how big is this guy's learning curve? If someone sold him a NES cartridge and a Wii, will IGN or Mega64 go through the same thing? Finally he is fat. The only thing he probably knows how to properly insert is food into his mouth.

That UMD better not have been the actual Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny UMD.

What a waste if it was.

I feel slightly bad for the PSP GO too. Not as much a sthe UMD though.

If only the military worked like this.

Country A: This is a tragedy!

Country B: If it's so bad, then why don't you do something? I'm sick of you guys always complaining about us!

A: Oh you wanna go to war? I take you to war! YOU WANNA GO TO WAR? I TAKE YOU TO WAR!

B: BRING IT ON BITCH, maybe now you guys will stop complaining so much!

A: Well I kinda agree with you, but you said it in a rude way. Besides, we all know that you make the best Product X around.

B: True, our Product X is good. And I'm sorry for yelling.

A: Friends?

B: BFF! *Hugz*

I died a little inside when i saw this. That little thing the Mega64 guy destroyed is worth 250 some bucks. I would kill to have one, and he destroys it. This makes me think the "Will it Blend" guy on youtube will do one.

Plus a 40-50 dollar UMD game.

It's a poorly-executed $300 joke. The lead-up to the part where he realizes that there's no slot was perfectly fine. The whole getting frustrated and destroying the game + system, not so great.

Whoever paid for it can do with it whatever the fuck they want to. And it was funny, I think multiple people can agree on that.

If you want to buy a PSP Go and not smash it, that's your business. If someone wants to buy one and smash it, then go ahead, who are you to say they can't?

If anything it's going to boost sales of the PSP Go by one whole freakin' unit, since if they really like the damn thing they'd buy one again, and if not they wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's not like they're going to run out of the damn things anytime soon.

Oh and lubing the PSP Go with mayonaise, and then presenting it with greasy mayonaise stains to a Gamestop employee is classic. I can understand someone not thinking the smashing part isn't all that funny, but that was just the building up part to the closing bit where he returns it.

I'm not really a fan of the PSP go, but I just wanted to slap him once he started mishandling it. The lube (I can't believe it's not butter?) made me feel bad for it. What a waste. But, I guess it's his money and right.

STATION WAGON? I have to ride a bicycle!! YOUR PARENTS COULD'VE BEEN DRIVING A SCHOOLBUS INSTEAD!

Everyone should buy a bicycle instead of a PSP Go.... we're all being wasteful.

Oh and (on a more serious note), for whoever thinks it's wasteful to smash a PSP Go; Don't buy one, you know how many bowls of rice you can buy for some hungry kid in Africa with those 300 dollars? If you do that, you can call it wasteful and earn my respect.

Mystile, I think you're taking this waaaaay too seriously. Gut reaction, some of us hate to see nice things get destroyed. Sure it was hilarious too, no doubt. But there's no need to go all philosophical on wastefulness. You do realize you're speaking to mostly Americans here, why just rearranging the word "American" you get "wasteful"...somehow...Anyway...the moral here is there's no need to point out the obvious, or a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. Definitely one of those.

Not taking it too serious? Your last post even said "on a more serious note" and went on to mention how many bowls of rice one could buy with PSP Go money. That's like something parents say to their kids when they don't polish off their dinner plate.

And no the end of my other post didn't make sense, it was only meant to be light hearted and whimsical to tone down your "serious note."

Ok ok we get it calm down, it sucks watching 300 dollars worth of awesomeness go down the drain just for a mere "meh"..and maybe a few
"teh he"..I'll admit I laughed, not at the video but at the dumbass who thought it would be "funny" if they did that. Very lame video, I don't think that laughter was what they were going for here. I mean honestly what's so funny about smashing things? Seriously tell me! I've been missing out all this time? I'm not defending the guy just saying, some people laugh and some don't, I'm one of those. I love to smile and laugh too, I'm not a grouchy, mean, person. I just don't find the humour on this particular video. I'm going to smash my Xbox see if it bring laughter, hopefully my roomate doesn't think I'm a maniac while laughing afterwards or during the smashing..

Christ I really don't get the fact that people are irritated about this. It's an interweb video of a comedy group that spent a few measly hundred dollars to make the video. What is with the friggin wah wah wah'ing over this. Boo hoo they busted up a PSP? Really?

I could care less if you smash your xbox. Difference is, they have money to burn on this, it's what they do, they're a comedy group focused on videogames.

Normally I don't find smashing things funny either. But what makes this video funny to me is the joke that they're trying to fit a UMD game in the PSP Go as a sort of jab to the arm to Sony for pulling stupid shit. And the destruction portion was at least more inventive than others I've seen even though it was brief. And him trying to return it to gamestop was amusing.
