IGN revealed today that the leaked Tatsunoko vs. Capcom character roster update was almost 100% accurate in predicting the characters added to the North American version (and the upcoming Japanese re-release). Joe the Condor (yet another Gatchaman character) and Mega Man X's pal Zero have joined the lineup. Only Yatterman #2 is unaccounted for. This isn't Zero's first appearance in a fighter; he appeared in his Mega Man Zero style in SNK vs. Capcom: SvC Chaosand Onimusha Blade Warriors. This is, however, his first appearance in a good fighting game.
Check out footage of both new characters in action after the break. Rather than being a simple palette swap of Mega Man Volnutt, Zero's attacks use his trademark energy sword. And Joe has a grappling hook/gun combo.
Why are Capcom being pricks? The character that everyone wants to see in this game is Megaman! Everyone wants to see Megaman! People hoped to see him in Brawl and it didn't happen, now there is a Capcom fighting game and....we get Zero? Nobody gives a damn about Zero! Just give the people Megaman!
I agree Megaman would be awesome in this game, but after that video and just anticipating the game in general, I don't think I'll have any problem at all with the people they already have there.
If you're a fan of the X series, Zero is a great choice. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more fans of Zero than X himself. Though having Zero AND MMX in this game would mean instant purchase.
did you just start playing video games? there have been "capcom fighting games" since the late 80s, and one of their most famous series (marvel vs capcom) has mega man in it. this game also has volnutt from legends, so zero is a perfect edition considering he has yet to be in any non mega man games.
Ya know, seeing as how Capcom pulled monkeys outta there asses to get this localized, I feel kinda obligated to get this. It sucks seeing hard work go unnoticed, and I need a reason to play my Wii.
I can't decide on how interested I actually am though, because with the re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, I've come to the conclusion that I really suck at 2D fighters.
3 megaman charaters 3 gatchaman characters 3 street fighter characters 2 tekkaman blade characters (there's rumor of a 3rd one being the female version of tekkaman)
Yeah dude, i'm with ya, Tatsunoko and Capcom have a lot more IP's from were to choose chars, and they stick to some franchises. (capcom, tip, ya had GodHand and devil may cry to choose from also!!! we dont care those hadn't spawned on nintendo consoles!!!! neither has frank west!!!! and no, i dont consider chop till you drop a dead rising game)
I was looking forward to Dante or Gene to, but I'll get the game anyway due to the fact of this being a rare occassion. I didn't think localizing the game was even possible!
I understand the 3 Gatchaman characters...and Street fighter characters. Gatchaman because Ken the Eagle and Jun the Swan are fairly iconic. Joe the condor because, due to licensing issues, they were probably limited to series they had the rights to (sadly, no Nurse Witch Komugi either :( ). Street fighter because you HAVE to have Ryu and Chun Li in a game like this. Alex because I suppose it's about time SFIII was acknowledged.
Oh well. Hopefully they'll do a sequel like they've said they'd like to do and THEN we'll get Gene (and Dante, too)~!
@CJLopez: "2 tekkaman blade characters (there's rumor of a 3rd one being the female version of tekkaman)" I think you're a bit confused, dood. There's Tekkaman and Tekkaman Blade (two completely seperate characters). And the final character to be announced is Yatterman #2, Ai-chan, who is the girlfriend of Yatterman #1, Gan-chan.
A lot of "mans" in this game, eh?
Really, Capcom took the safe route with the new characters on this. The three Tatsunoko characters are from anime already licensed for the game, and the two Capcom characters are related to Megaman, in a sense. Zero, being from the Megaman X series, and Frank West, who can dress up as Megaman X and his game was produced by Megaman's creator.
Sadly, while they're all good characters in their own rights, a well-rounded cast, it does not make.
Well, I'm just happy the game is being localized and getting online play added.
I'm disappointed in no Arthur or playable Okami character, but Zero (with his Mega Man X design to boot instead of that lamewad Mega Man Zero version) definitely helps make up for that. Now if only I wasn't terrible at fighting games.
Darn, no Zack & Wiki. Oh well, I suppose there's always a chance for a sequel....
And I hope that Zero speaks in English for the final version. Yeah, that looks like the U.S. version, but there's always the possibility that you can have English or Japanese acting turned on.
Why can't this be on a normal console? I'm a big fighting game fan and having to get a Wii just for this urgh. Somebody should release a console that's centered for fighting games, they could call it, um, Dream something or other.
Fighting games have always been released for all available consoles for all time. Just wondering, have you even played this game? And are you really going to diss the Wii at this point after several hardcore games have already been released for it with more coming in the next few months?
Let me put this in a way even you guys can understand. Yes I played this game in an arcade. No I'm not "dissing" the Wii, I'm "dissing" that this day and age we still don't have ONE system that can play all games because of corporate exclusivity dickwaggle and worse yet, consumer fucktard fanboyism supporting such dickwaggle. I have a 360 but bought a PS3 for it's exclusives and now I have to get a Wii for TvC?
Sorry if I'm talking for myself here but let me say I'm running out of time, patience, and tv inputs to call myself a proud unbiased all-console gamer. Notice I didn't say MONEY. I'm just f'ing fed up with seeing REAL gamers getting shat on time and again because we picked the "wrong" system while the "hardcore" gamers have such pride of picking the "right" one and willingly open their mouths to the ill-disguised diarrhea spewed from their favorite console maker.
The reality: Many gamers have to be multi-console owners and further perpetuates the notion to the console makers that this is acceptable behaviour. It is foul, rank, and I'll have none of it given the choice. Guess I'll get that Wii now, eh? :-/
I have a wii. Lookin forward to this game. But the only thing that pisses me off about it being on wii, is all the $$$ I spent on my ps3 & x360 tournament edition fight pads, which I love n can't imagine playin a capcom fighter without them. N I reeeeally don't wanna hafta buy another. Anybody heard of a way to use the ps3 or x360 sticks with the wii or an adaptor. Sumthin I hopefully don't hafta crack open my controller to do. I'd love to see a way better lookin 360 or ps3 version of this game. Or hell, just a version of this game with 720p or 1080p would make me happy lol. Besides I'm playing marvel vs capcom2 n very happy with it. N this is a step up from that arcade cabinet.
You've got some really bad luck if it doesn't let you finish, twice at that. I'm buying this regardless, it has Casshern, Ippatsuman, and now Zero?! Hell, I think that's enough bad-assery to get me to buy this game. Even better is the fact that I have an X-arcade 2-player joystick that I can connect up to play this on. Now to modify it to use the Japanese styled joysticks on it...
Wait a minute here. They got rid of one Tatsunoko character and added two. They simply added two Capcom characters. That means there is one less Tatsunoko character. WTF? Plus we were promised 5 characters to make up for it. I want my third Tatsunoko character dammit!
