There's a better demo of this available at most Best Buys (it came with the DJ Hero demo apparently)
And judging from that demo, Band Hero is just Guitar Hero. I mean seriously...there is NOTHING setting the two apart from each other except that Band Hero is apparently designed for girls (everything is purple and bejeweled)

I thought it was just a pop version of GH and all, not a yaaaay shiny bejeweled version for GURLZ.
That said, I enjoyed singing I'm Walking on Sunshine. A lot.

I was saddened and dismayed after a few hundred times of hearing that wretched song, especially knowing that Finger Eleven actually had substantially better output a few years prior. And no, I couldn't avoid it. Work.
