Elder Scrolls' 'The Infernal City' book has cover, release date
Bethesda Softworks has revealed the cover for The Infernal City, the first of two Elder Scrolls books the publisher plans to produce. The novel, written by Greg Keyes, will make its way to store shelves November 24 ... the audio book will only have six voice actors (OK, we made that last part up).
Joystiq chat transcript upon seeing the cover:
Alexander S.: Question: Where is the water generated from that just flows out of this flying city?
Dave H.: A wizard did it.
Alexander S.: That's your answer for everything.
Ben G.: Yeah, Dave's wrong anyway. A whole bunch of wizards would be required for something like that.
Alexander S.: They have a wizard on the "Hamster Wheel of Water Generation."
JC F.: How could you even keep the city's inferno going with all that water?
Justin M.: It's a water inferno.

Wow, that cover art is absolutely beautiful. I was not even aware that there were books coming out. Color me interested.

Pic has been up on Amazon for a few weeks, guess I shoulda hit the old tip line. Cover looks great, but story doesn't seem in character with the Scrolls. I will read it no matter what.

oops my mistake. Wrong joystiq tab..
On topic, interesting, Elder Scrolls was a great game, maybe it'll be the same for the book. I hope so. So many people releasing books now a days, or maybe it's just me paying more attention.
Nathan-DTS [He is your father] @ Oct 15th 2009 10:22AM
Which Elder Scrolls? It irritates me when people refer to the Elder Scrolls series as Oblivion when Morrowind was 10x better.

I saw a mudcrab the other day, nasty little things.

Please don't hurt the mudcrab merchant. Creeper will just rip you off.

Have you seen a land dreugh? We call them 'Billies.' Don't know why. Steer clear of them, though.

I'm suddenly reminded of CLAMP's Magic Knight Rayearth manga and anime series. Be back later, need to go dig out the DVDs from storage and watch it again.
S. Tiger @ Oct 15th 2009 3:43AM
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann ruined that series for me. ;[
mahouneko @ Oct 15th 2009 5:58AM
Hahaha, how so?
S. Tiger @ Oct 15th 2009 6:53AM
Rayearth turns into a magic mech anime...plus I've started to not care for CLAMP much anymore.

Elder Scrolls' 'The Infernal City' I thought it was the new ES game! ... until I finished reading the post title...but I am somewhat interested in the book with that epic picture.
Rhamsey @ Oct 15th 2009 2:32AM
I love the Elder Scrolls lore, and I'm sure I will love the book as well. Also, nice cover art.
S. Tiger @ Oct 15th 2009 3:42AM
Don't even think about stealing the books from your local book store. I hear they've hired the Imperial Guard to help insure the books aren't stolen.

DyslexicAlucard @ Oct 15th 2009 5:18AM
I highly doubt the entire Bethesda team is writing this book...
I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Oct 15th 2009 5:24AM
really?
hmm, i was always under the impression that it took hundereds of programmers and designers to write a book.
My Mistake.
Thanks for the Book Bethesda, will trophies be patched in later?

ok having just played oblivion recently, that comment about the six voice actors is priceless.

It was strange the first time I talked to a begger. He had a raspy voice then I asked him about rumours and his voice was the same as a normal person.

When is the next Elders Scroll game coming??
edgore @ Oct 15th 2009 11:26AM
I read something on Joystiq not long ago that seemed to indicate that the next Elder Scrolls game was years away. Which makes me sad, since I recently replayed through Oblivion a bit just to finish the Thief quests (got the ring bug the first time I played it through) and it has reminded me that I really enjoy playing Elder Scrolls games!
ZayCube @ Oct 15th 2009 1:13PM
Ok, thanks for answering tho. Lets hope it will be out soon :P

I sullenly feel this book is going to be full of superlatives.
Word play for the kiddies.
Reuben @ Oct 15th 2009 12:01PM
This actually has me wanting to revisit the game now. I never did complete the Fighter's Guild or finish up The Shivering Isles.
It's a rainy day today. It's going to happen.
Reuben @ Oct 15th 2009 12:02PM
Also, I totally didn't meant o reply to you :-)
Stevetrop @ Oct 15th 2009 1:06PM
I put this on my amazon wish list. I am really intrigued about this and I can't wait to read it. Chances are once I do start reading it I'm going to dive into playing Oblivion once again.
Find him... and close shut the jaws of Oblivion
Tuxy79 @ Oct 15th 2009 1:28PM
This reminds me of the cover to 'Champions of Krynn' D&D box cover.
Anyone?
Enduros @ Oct 15th 2009 1:34PM
I kinda wish Terry Pratchet wrote this.
Should be a good book though. I really liked the Elder Scrolls.
Reuben @ Oct 15th 2009 2:50PM
I need to read more of his stuff. I've only read his collaboration with Neil Gaiman, Good Omens.
Enduros @ Oct 15th 2009 2:54PM
@ Reuben
I haven't read that as of yet. Baby on the way takes up alot of time. lol
You should check out his Diskworld books. Monty Python meets Harry Potter-esk style stories. He's an amazing writer and his humor is hysterical. He's one of my all time favorite authors. You won't be able to read them fast enough. lol
fatcatfan @ Oct 15th 2009 6:51PM
You're all wrong. The water is pumped up to the island by the transparent pipe that is obviously holding that island up in the sky.
I mean, an giant land mass is floating in mid-air and you object to water flowing off of it?
Mitsuo @ Oct 15th 2009 7:22PM
you know for some reason the term "don't judge a book by it's cover" comes to mind. =/
Cy @ Oct 16th 2009 1:36AM
Great... Love any TES News I can get, but aren't we still kinda missing something?
Bethesda... howzabout the Official Addons for the PS3 version of Oblivion or, heaven forbid, a fix for that gawdawful "Cure for Vampirsm" GOTY Bug.
"Please, man?... I got these cheeseburgers...."
