You guys aren't going to believe who our very own Jem Alexander got to interview recently: Hideo Kojima! That's right, we've got some Joystiq Original Reporting™ in the video above, in which Joystiq's European emissary interviews the Metal Gear Solid creator about his upcoming plans. It's a huge boon for our humble news site, and we thank Jem for his -- wait, what? He doesn't work here anymore? That limey bastard!
We're going to be busy stewing in our anger for a while, so go ahead and watch that interview --make sure you don't miss the 3:45 mark, when Kojima speaks about how a current-gen Zone of the Enders title is "on the top of the list" of his studio's priorities. That news is almost delightful enough to make us forget our brutal betrayal.

Do you just sit at your computer waiting for a new article to appear? You're first on like %90 of the articles. I mean you basically just admitted it by saying "I didn't watch the video yet".

Wii would like to play too.
Need one for PS3/360/PC and another for the Wii but only if it takes smart advantage of the system.
I agree with new IPs though. The generation has just been on huge clusterball of re-releases and nostalgia upgrades and sequels. Not a bad thing, but it becomes one when that's all you get, basically.
But at least Zone doesn't take as much of his time as MGS.

Course we wouldn't mind him doing a new IP, but theres those (me included), who would love a new entry into the ZoE series. Hell, I remember when he had those multiple teaser countdown/hint things going, I was speculating it was going to be a ZoE game because he's been doin nothin BUT MGS lately, and after saying he was done with snake, figured there wouldn't be more for a while.
So yes to new IP. but YEEES-SIR!! To the possibility of ZoE 3 (Or Secrets of the Enders/SoE like I guessed before). Besides, the game only improved with 2. =D

He said that he wanted to do another ZOE after MGS4 but later said as long as his team doesnt choose the themes he created for new projects that involve MGS then it would happen. Unfortunately they chose two: One for MGS rising and I guess someone convinced him to do MGSPW for the PSP as well. Plus he's mentoring MercuryStream on the new CastleVania so when will he ever get a chance to make a new ZOE is anyone's guess. I'm sure he's been thinking about it for ever so the story will probably be the best ever but we'll die of old age waiting for it.

New Snacher/Officially Translated Policenauts, please.

the fan translation of policenauts is really good, but i would love to see either of these IP's explored more. ZOE is the lowest quality of all Kojima's IPs, but that is not an insult because ZOE is actually pretty solid.

I'm not big on MGS, but I'd take a new ZoE in a freakin' heartbeat! Please make it happen, Mr. Kojima. :)

I'd like to know when Kojima stepped away from the MGS franchise, let Konami hand it over to another team, pointed out that fans were always asking for the ZOE franchise, said that he would like to continue it...................and then he didn't.
He said that ZOE was a TOP priority on his list. However he also said that he'd like to create a new franchise and that ZOE wasn't his next project. What I gathered from the interview is that Kojima will work on ZOE this gen but he will work on other projects first. It WILL happen, it will just take some time.

If I recall it correctly, every time Kojima stepped away from Metal Gear Solid, Konami made him come back time and time again and didn't hand the project to another team.
So again I ask, in what other time did Kojima step away from the MGS franchise, let Konami hand it over to another team, point out that fans were always asking for the ZOE franchise and say that he would like to continue it?
To me, all the conditions are met for him to make another ZOE game. Not now, but certainly this gen.

Oooh! I have some ideas for the name of the lead character! How about "Echidna Caribou?" Or "Shrew Alpaca." Maybe "Tasmanian Devil Flamingo," or "Wallaby Thompson’s Gazelle."
I mean, it's hard to top "Dingo Egret," but damn it, we have to try!

Ha, Microsoft can have Rising, but you can't take Zone of the Enders from our PS3s!

A new ZoE with Red faction-style city destruction would rule so, so hard.

Well, I have no interest in any of his projects. I'm glad he's got fans though, helps keep the food on the table.
