On the wii? Really? Friend codes are bad enough as it is now, imagine trying to play an mmo with them. I want it on the pc/360/ps3.

If there's a Pokemon RPG, there's a good chance we'd expect a lot more from future titles of Pokemon - more than just new Pokemon to add to the list.

...and dear gawd, if we do that, we'll actually judge their games in a critical manner instead of just saying "It's Pokemon, what did you expect?"

See, the thing about that is that by that time you'd already gotten several Warcraft RTS with the best graphics available at the time. We've gotten... No Pokemon console RPGs.

"No Pokemon console RPGs."

You mean no GOOD Pokemon console RPGs.

The Pokemon XD games count as console RPGs, but they had SEVERAL THINGS MISSING that made it....... ehhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I enjoyed it, but then again, I didn't really expect much from it. :P

@Captain Planet

Pokémon is in the hands of Gamefreak, a 2nd party company
Never ever blame Nintendo for Pokémon games again
Gamefreak are the ones to blame for so few good and so many stupid Pokémon games
I wish they would stop making stupid Mystery Dungeon and other games and just focus on the main series

Kids like this sort of thing, and Pokemon is still geared towards kids, even though the first generation of gamers that played it are in their 20's now.

At the very least, the Pokemon here seem to have new models. The other games so far have been reusing the models from the N64 games or using the horrendous looking chibi ones.

But yeah, I've been waiting for a proper Wii RPG or at the very least a good update of the Stadium games. This is a little depressing.

Was that supposed to be a jab at ODST?

I fail to see how you can be comparing an *EXPANSION* pack for Halo 3 (a 2 year old game), to Nintendo recycling models from a decade old one.

Full price and stand alone or not, it was still Halo 3: ODST.

It's not the same thing as releasing Wii games with N64 character models. That just shouldn't be acceptable, and like I said. I'm glad we finally have a more refined looking Charizard. His wings were literally flat in Battle Revolution, barley above being a sprite.

Oh for fuck sake! When will Nintendo realize that we want a console RPG? Not this crap! Pokemon Colosseum and Gale of Darkness were close to what we wanted, but not quite. Why don't they just remake Red and Blue for the Wii? That will please most people.

They wouldn't be able to successfully exploit the consumer base by requiring two copies of the same game be sold.

Is that a screen of the game? It looks like a low quality PSP game. That's what qualifies as a first party Wii title now huh?

Well, there doesn't have to be two games. Just one will work. The only difference between Red and Blue was what Pokemon were in the game. They could just include the Pokemon in both games into a single remake.

It's not about what you want, or what's necessary. You think they give a crap about progression? They've sold the same game in sets of two, what, like 12 times? The pokemon series is about milking the ignorant for financial gain.

Well, the opinion on the PokePark Wii was pretty much unanimous, so I just thought I'd incorporate the findings of the study a few posts back, along with a classic Simpsons quote. I didn't expect people to roll about laughing, I just thought a bit of gentle humour would be ok and permissible.

Clearly not :(

I have NEVER understood it. For years and years and years Nintendo has been sitting on an absolute gold mine and has never once acted upon it. We all sit and wait in E3 for a new IP that will blow us away when all Nintendo really needs to do is release a single player FULL Pokemon experience on a console.
Just start with the first 150 and create a whole 3D adventure on the Wii, hell you don't even need to change the battle system or really anything about the game. A straight up port of the original Gameboy version to Wii adding a few newer features (Clock, weather, etc) and you have an instant success. It would easily become one of the top selling Wii games, period, and provide a solid, long, single player RPG with substance. It would appeal to hardcore and casual alike. You throw in friend code trading and battling? Bam.

It has seemed like the obvious choice for so many years, and it's quite mind boggling that they still have yet to act on such an idea.

See, it's very sad how you are looking forward to something that would be very basic and old. Would that game be improving upon or doing anything better than other adventure games?

Has the RPG formula ever really been drastically changed at all though? Has the RTS or FPS genre been drastically changed since it's conception for that matter? No. It's hit a point where it is really hard to "innovate" in the industry, but that doesn't mean you can't make good games rehashing old formulas.

I see it as just plain stupid on Nintendo's part, developers could spend years and years thinking and working to achieve an idea that they could develop into a hit that would sell in the millions, and Nintendo has been sitting on one for over 10 years they refuse to make.

The key to questioning when a full Pokemon game will appear on DS is one that lies in Game Freak's hands. Remember: Nintendo does not own Pokemon outright. For most intents and purposes they do, but in the sense of determining what gets made, they do not.

Game Freak has made it perfectly clear that they want it to remain handheld, despite the obvious benefits otherwise

In case you missed it last time, I think your WindWaker Link avatar really suits you, Khan.

And I keep forgetting that Nintendo owns the rights to Pokemon, even though it has such a strong appearance in the Smash Bros. games. I just it find it a little crazy to think that such a powerful franchise comes from one of my favorite gaming companies out there (Mario and Zelda aside).
