Splinter Cell walkthrough video brings out the brutality
Certainly, Amnesty International wouldn't approve of these tactics -- but we're a rather depraved bunch here at Joystiq HQ. It's pretty clear Splinter Cell Conviction is one of our most anticipated games targeted for the crowded Q1 season next year.

Meh @ Oct 15th 2009 1:38PM
Chortles anyone?
BIacked Out @ Oct 15th 2009 2:02PM
Wtf is a PS3?
mmxzero @ Oct 15th 2009 2:28PM
I have chortles.
DeepFriedSushi @ Oct 15th 2009 11:00PM
wooooo, man gives me chill seeing the mark and execute.
Drew -- PS360: uphillbothways @ Oct 15th 2009 1:38PM
A month or two ago I decided to stop buying console games for more that $40 each. Cus I can wait a few months to buy that game. Ever since Arkham Asylum I've stuck by that.
Q1 is going to be torture!
iamnotafish @ Oct 15th 2009 2:18PM
I'm imagining a lot of people will be trading in games though right around then to get monies to buy new games. So you might luck out with a well placed craigslist/kijiji ad.
jmood88 @ Oct 15th 2009 5:38PM
Sucks for you.
Chris @ Oct 15th 2009 1:39PM
Broken nose + knife in hand = win
Blank-Mage @ Oct 15th 2009 1:42PM
Well, it's a good thing torture always works.

EWW those goggles. TAke them off or make them optional , CANCEL PRE ORDER.
Blank-Mage @ Oct 15th 2009 1:51PM
Your problem with a Splinter Cell game is the goggles. The trademark goggles that have been in every game since the beginning. That's like hating Halo for Master Chiefs helmet.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 15th 2009 2:22PM
Could be wrong but that seemed like obvious sarcasm ...
Sam406 @ Oct 15th 2009 3:32PM
Those goggles have been with him since the very first game, they are his trademark gadget.
And also canceling a pre-order over something as trivial as that is kinda silly don't you think?
Sean @ Oct 15th 2009 5:14PM
Sarcasm and the internet don't mix well. Try again.
PedoJokerBear [Planeteer | Power of Gall Bladder] @ Oct 15th 2009 5:51PM
i hate marios stupid fucking hat.
Blank-Mage @ Oct 15th 2009 1:48PM
But besides that, this game really does look awesome. It's like Arkham Asylum without the bothersome regard for the well being of opponents.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 15th 2009 1:48PM
For a game thats been delayed again and again it just doesn't look that impressive from a visual perspective. When I see videos for Modern Warfare 2 or Assassins Creed 2 I'm genuinely blown away and in awe of the game ... from a visual perspective nothing about this looks all that great. In fact, I think Alan Wake looks better in every way possible.
I dunno it just seems like when I see a video of this I'm kind of ... meh. Something about this game just doesn't look right. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but it just looks dull and life less.
Blank-Mage @ Oct 15th 2009 2:41PM
I disagree with you there, but even so; it's not out yet, so don't be so quick to judge.
GiggMan @ Oct 15th 2009 2:45PM
Yeah it's still got time. The only thing I didn't like is that it seemed a little robotic with the animations and for some reason I didn't like the camera angles, it didn't pan smoothly to me.
Easily fixable stuff and the graphics are decent.
NaeemTHM @ Oct 15th 2009 3:17PM
No offense but don't you only have a PS3? Why do you even care? Quit trollin.
arrrgh @ Oct 15th 2009 4:15PM
If you're going to call out a game for not having bleeding edge insane graphics, don't choose MW2 or AC2 as an example. While they are both going to be amazing, they aren't exactly graphical powerhouses. Conviction looks just fine.
PedoJokerBear [Planeteer | Power of Gall Bladder] @ Oct 15th 2009 5:51PM
i think this game looks better than AC2 imo.
Sean @ Oct 15th 2009 1:50PM
Wow this looks amazing! I can't wait for Feb 2010. My wallet will hate me early next year: Bioshock 2, Dante's Inferno, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Battlefield Bad Company 2, God of War 3, and GT5 whenever that comes out! Thank you income tax return!
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 15th 2009 2:20PM
It's going to be pretty crazy. Looking at the rest of this year I'm probably only going to get Modern Warfare 2, Ratchet And Clank ACIT, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, New Super Mario Brothers & Assassins Creed 2.
Going into next year I'm getting Modnation Racers, Army Of Two: 40th Day, MAG (maybe), Gran Turismo 5, Lost Planet 2, Heavy Rain, Bioshock 2, Just Cause 2, White Knight Chronicles, Bad Company 2, Dead Rising 2, Resonance of Fate, Last Guardian, God Of War 3, Alpha Protocol and whenever SE decides to release FInal Fantasy 13.
Yeah the first 6 months of next year might be the best 6 month stretch in gaming history.
phobic99 @ Oct 15th 2009 1:52PM
From a "holy shit this looks fun" perspective... holy shit this looks fun.
vespir78 @ Oct 15th 2009 2:39PM
You took the words right outta my mouth.
roger @ Oct 15th 2009 2:40PM
Not really digging the Arcadey feel this game seems to portray. I prefer the old Splinter Cell where it felt more realistic, now that auto targeting makes it seem fake. I'm sure it will be a good game, but only time will tell right now I'm not liking the new direction with this game.
Baalzak @ Oct 15th 2009 4:43PM
You thought the old Splinter Cell games were realistic? Because yeah, most warehouses only have 3 or 4 dim lights, leaving 30% or more of the place in complete darkness.
What's an "OSHA violation?"
Obie @ Oct 15th 2009 6:38PM
Agreed!
Darayz @ Oct 15th 2009 1:53PM
I wonder if they're going to release a super deluxe edition of this game like Modern Warfare 2's Prestige Edition. Instead of the goggles, I would like to have a sticky cam in the box please.
Minecart @ Oct 15th 2009 1:57PM
I'd rather it come with the little fiber-optic camera snake doohickey.
Wardo @ Oct 15th 2009 1:55PM
Can't wait for next year! This is on the top of my wish list.
DiamondXP @ Oct 15th 2009 2:20PM
Campaign looks awesome but why no love for Multiplayer? That is the biggest draw for me.
sonicspike41 @ Oct 15th 2009 2:33PM
They wanted to make multiplayer, but then they realized that it just wouldn't work. Everyone would be Sam. It would be like watching Chuck Norris counter Chuck Norris's roundhouse kick with a roundhouse kick of his own.
In other words, adding multiplayer would make the universe implode.
chawboo @ Oct 15th 2009 3:08PM
Multiplayer is being developed by Montreal, they have kept it under wraps so far though.
Dr. Bradwart [100% Reagan Conservative!] @ Oct 15th 2009 2:09PM
I'm surprised they haven't renamed this to "Splinter Cell: Forever" yet.
MRacca @ Oct 15th 2009 2:32PM
This is comming out the Same week as Lost Planet 2! Two of my favorate games in one week!! 1 hour SCC, 1 hour LP2, 1 hour SCC, 1 hour LP2. That may work.
quickshade @ Oct 15th 2009 2:47PM
They haven't yet realized how awesome the co-op in chaos theory was yet have they. In fact dare I say it's the only game that has ever been truly co-op. In that you both have to be equally good and share the same tactics to beat the game.
Patton @ Oct 15th 2009 3:11PM
Agreed. The Chaos Theory coop was amazing. I'd love it in this, but I'm still buying it whether it has coop or not.
Captain Planet [Planeteer | Power of Captain Planet] @ Oct 15th 2009 2:52PM
Okay, that was just fucking ridiculous.
avan @ Oct 15th 2009 3:14PM
This one is getting better and better, finally some new ideas with a lot of potential, next years is starting to look great with this and alan wake and well of course all the pushed back ones....
TriviumSuffocationTheBlackDahliaMurderLambOfGod @ Oct 15th 2009 3:17PM
Oh man, Conviction is shaping into possibly one of the best releases of 2010. The gameplay looks interactive, fluid, and cinematic. You're never taken out of the action, which is something that made the Half-Life games so compelling to me. Everything happened in-game, which made me feel like I'm in the shoes of the character. It makes the game world more important. You feel like more than just an avatar in a game.
james @ Oct 15th 2009 3:35PM
looks sick, but im curious how satisying the mark and execute kills will be. will the ease of it get boring? or does it just look easy.
DeepFriedSushi @ Oct 15th 2009 11:09PM
you have to kill enemies in order to get a mark token. so half your kills will have to be though harder methods.
cylet @ Oct 15th 2009 4:29PM
the video concerns me... exactly how many times can we stab the black arrow officer before the interrogation cuts off? :'[
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 15th 2009 5:04PM
So pumped for this... wonder what multiplayer will be like o.0
oldschoolgamer @ Oct 15th 2009 7:29PM
It looks like the delay time is being put to good use. This game looks better and better every time I see it. Definitely a day one purchase.
Arturo @ Oct 15th 2009 8:50PM
Day 1 buy for me.
Plastic Rat @ Oct 16th 2009 12:06AM
Ergh, guess I'm no longer this game's target market. I loved the previous ones (Except that abortion on PSP).
This just.. bleh, It looks like an action game for ADD kiddies who want to feel special. Pass.
(Sir, we've detected an incoming mass downrank in 3.. 2.. OHPLEASEGODNOTHERESOMANYAAAARRGHH!)
