There's a Battle Rifle in ODST after all

Many Halo fans were not pleased to hear that the BR55HB SR Battle Rifle had been cut from the Halo 3: ODST. Like, seriously unhappy. Thanks to Halo.Bungie.Org. we're pleased to report that the hardest of all hardcore weapons was actually included in the game after all. Unfortunately, the weapon only shows up in a cut scene. You'll need quick eyes -- or the pause button -- to see it, but it's definitely there, wielded by an NMPD officer at the end of the NMPD HQ mission. Well, he wields it up until a Brute Chieftain uses the officer's gray matter as hammer lubricant, anyway.

No, you can't use it, but at least you get a badass pistol to compensate for it, right?

I missed it in the game. If they'll add it as dlc, I'd buy it.

People need to calm down. Yes, the BR is a sweet weapon. But it wasn't the end of the world.

The pistol does compensate; mainly because you get it from the start. (rather than an AR and a crappy pistol with no zoom or headshots)

I'm just confused as to why the ODST's bring silenced pistols and SMG's if the mission they were given was to infiltrate a Covenant ship through HEV.

Also I still think it makes more sense for Navy personnel (such as the ODST's) to have rifles like BR.

Its close quarters combat, and you're asking why they don't have a mid-long range weapon over an smg?

No I'm asking why they brought silenced weapons as I doubt stealth would be of any use (it'd have to be a small team to be useful). The BR could probably have been found somewhere on the ground.

Now the BR is popular. Last year, there were so many complaints on bungie.net about too many BR-starts on ranked/social playlists. Bungie caved into the whining and reduced them. Now it's, where is the BR...

I really didn't get on with the BR, I got rid of it whenever I could, in the Halo 2 & 3 campaigns, same with the brute pistol.. I used the Automag, assault rifle & silenced SMG for most of ODST..

I love the BR. Not in the typical Halo-way, but it's just an amazing overall powerful weapon. Once you get good with it, it's nearly impossible to stop unless you're at super close range, or a great distance. Still, I didn't think I needed it in ODST.
