UK retailer offering Limited Tin Edition of New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Well, there ain't no shame in UK retailer GAME, who is taking preorders on a Limited Tin Edition of the game. The Tin Edition comes in a rather fetching tin case, with a slot at the top that makes it suitable for use as a bank. It'll be out in Europe on the same November 20 date as the normal edition, for 49.99. The regular, non-tin version is currently on the site for 34.99.

Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 15th 2009 10:31PM
That's pretty rad, Markez.

Found it :) Can't find the suction cup thingy Mario she gave me one year that's on the mirror in the bathroom, though. I'm a lucky fella, she recently split the PS3 slim cost with me and she's hardcore into college fball.

What about US retailers? I want that with the force of a thousand suns! Well, maybe just the force of several suns....
CubeGuy @ Oct 15th 2009 10:14PM
The game retails for $40? Wow, that's only $5 more than I bought the OLD New Super Mario Bros. for.. Way to go Nintendo!
Dr. Bradwart [100% Reagan Conservative!] @ Oct 15th 2009 10:16PM
I'm guessing, since its the UK...they meant either GBP or Euros...
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 15th 2009 10:16PM
40 Pounds Sterling, I believe...
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 16th 2009 5:36AM
Yup, click the link. It's £. Don't know why they left the numbers bare there
Alphathon @ Oct 16th 2009 8:41AM
Yeah, thats pretty standard UK pricing, and works out as about $57US for the standard and $82US for the tin. The US RRP (I think you guys call it MSRP) is $49.99. Man I hate the "being british tax" (at least its not as bad as MW2)
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 16th 2009 11:26AM
Though that's before the sales tax that differs per state. When I was over in Seattle for pPAX I picked up the new Layton, and it ended up costing the same as if I'd bought it here.
Also, the expense may be swayed by the fact that Wii games, especially first party, generally go on sale for the same as PS3 & 360 games at £39.99. For those games the retail price is generally equal thanks to the pounds regaining (slowly) strength - it's round about €1.6 to the pound now where it dipped close to $1.20 at one point.
In the US the Wii games go on sale $10 cheaper to begin with.

Sounds pretty cool, I wonder why Nintendo haven't capitalized on those Special editions bundles for their games.
WREturns (Please buy and rate my iPhone game, Shape Tapper!) @ Oct 15th 2009 10:20PM
Seriously. Tin for the win!
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 15th 2009 10:20PM
Ah, old (new) school platforming. Just how I love ya Mario. Don't ever change.... on second thought, Super Smash Bros. is pretty cool... and Paper Mario.... and Bowser's Inside story...
Ah Mario, don't ever make a movie again- ever.
Yan @ Oct 15th 2009 10:27PM
I'm a sucker for pre-order bonuses.
Wait. What's that? You say you have to pay extra for a tin box?
Uh... I think I'll pass. I'm not even on the right side of the Atlantic.
Fernando Rocker @ Oct 15th 2009 10:32PM

scissors125 @ Oct 15th 2009 11:04PM
Along with the next No More Heroes game, this will be one of my only Wii purchases for a while.
I hope the US gets that nice case, too.
Mr.ESC @ Oct 15th 2009 11:19PM
15$ for a tin...looks pretty bad,it is like those walmart lunchboxes.
If it was a ? block or included a Mario hat it would be great.
._.
TriviumSuffocationTheBlackDahliaMurderLambOfGod @ Oct 15th 2009 11:22PM
I'd be all over this if they offered it in the US. That tin is awesome and would be quite a cool thing to have in my collection.
Xizer @ Oct 15th 2009 11:59PM
Wow I can't wait to pay an extra $15 for a cheap metal piece of crap.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 16th 2009 5:42AM
It's £15, so it would end up an extra $24 or so if it goes over to the US.
vitamin b @ Oct 16th 2009 12:35AM
I am too excited to play it. And just gonna have it sooner. Is it available within my region??vitamin b
finnith @ Oct 16th 2009 1:18AM
I might actually pick this up as a present for my friends.
Monica Dickey @ Oct 16th 2009 2:29AM
cute! looks so fun
Mr Khan @ Oct 16th 2009 8:42AM
Should be a free preorder bonus, though. Like that neat little coin they packaged with preorder versions of Galaxy
JC @ Oct 16th 2009 10:10PM
Are they going to do this for all "wii-makes". They have already done it for metroid trilogy. And this is just a fancy version of new super mario bros ds.
