Dawn of War II's free 'The Last Stand' DLC released

THQ and Relic have released "The Last Stand," a free update for the Warhammer 40k RTS Dawn of War II. As we reported during PAX 2009, the DLC adds a Horde/Firefight style survival mode to the game. In addition, the pack contains two new maps and what THQ describes as "numerous balance updates and bug fixes."
The publisher has also mentioned that Dawn of War II is receiving what we can only imagine is a limited time price cut to $20 on Steam, effective immediately. It should last 'til at least dawn.

Bought it yesterday and I've been loving it so far, if you got the rig to run it you should definitely pick it up.

I have been waiting for this. I've beat the SP a few times, but I've never been much for the MP...Once i heard about this, I was excited as hell.
Well, off to play.

So awesome. I picked DOW2 up the last time they had a big sale on it, and I'm glad I did. It really is a metric shitton of fun.

I just played this new mode for about 2 hours.
Wow.
I really like this. Getting a coordinated team together and playing off of one another's skills is great. This is definitely going to get me to play this more, and hopefully I can rope my friends who stopped playing back in to try it out.
Apparently, once you hit wave 20 (the final wave) you get to fight Chaos Marines, which aren't even going to be released until the expansion comes out. Personally, I can't get past wave 10. Damn space marines with plasma rifles...

i'd be more afraid of those scouts since they pack grenades.

you're a day late, joystiq. been grinding for two days now.
it's great developers continue to dish out service to fans like valve, for free, and in turn gets them sales.
my only criticisms of the mode are the lack of maps - mainly that there's only one. and it's predictability, but it has a purpose with a goal wave you want to be (made it to wave 17, it is monstrous and there is a hilarious wave, 16, which i will leave players to find out to their delight and/or horror) at then build up strategy.
also, i know a tyranid hero wouldn't make sense but .... i wanted to be a tyrant. might as well since you're fighting all factions.

also people tend to not pick the eldar witch, thus me ending up being her and she get's useless after about wave 11 when slow, non-special close combat isn't the best idea in those situations and her powers get a little weak. needs some more balancing and glitch fixings.

I like the Farseer best of all of them. Confuse is endlessly useful past the early trash levels, and Eldritch Storm with a Mekboy to feed it is fantastic. She almost never melees really.
Although I really want to grind up my Space Marine Captain. Eventually getting to summon a Dreadnought? Priceless.
