Alright, look. We've tried to remain as impartial as possible in the undying debate of Aliens vs. Predator, but we think the winner of this struggle is clear. Sure, Predators have cloaking devices and wrist-mounted swords, and humans have ... well, inimitable pluck, we guess. However, Aliens possess fanged proboscises. Sorry, other guys, but acid-coated tongue-jaws are an impossible act to follow.
You can see the Aliens' strengths in action in the latest trailer for the Sega's AvP, posted above. For reasons which will become clear to you upon viewing, we've affectionately titled the video "Aliens vs. Predator: Sorry About Your Face."
[Thanks, Ikarop.]

I'll probably hold off some more until they can actually make a game that looks like the movies. Compared to the original Alien, this still looks like a bunch of cartoony polygons, no matter how many normal maps or specular maps or other bullshit they add.

I never understood the second mouth thing. I've tried to find out about them and from what I gather, they don't induce paralysis, and they dont even always kill the victim instantly, so what's the point? Why not just use your regular mouth or your claws to snap a dudes neck?

Practicality has no use in a science fiction setting.

Alien Queen: "Stop ya'll. Where y'all think ya'll going? You think you can just up and run away, you crazy. I like to eat people from other planets, specially y'all.
(little mouth pops out)"I like to eat you with my little mouth too!"
Alien Queen: Oh no y'all get back inside me little mouth
Little Mouth: "I wants to play too!"
Alien Queen: Get inside, I'll get you when we's eatin em"
Little Mouth pops back inside: "ZOOP!"

That's the whole debate. Predators (TM), or the perfectly engineered predator?

Yeah. That predator at the end was such a noob, decloaking in a dark corridor and standing there like there was a picture of mum on the wall. He was a disgrace

No way. Predators are just glorified humans.
They're built exactly like a human, they move like a human, the use weapons just like a human (projectiles and explosives), and they're as lazy as humans. Lazy, in that humans create devices and contraptions to perform tasks that would otherwise be much more difficult, and Predators have even more gadgets and gizmos than humans do (which also makes them nerdy, like some humans).
There's nothing scary, probable, or interesting about them to me. If anything, they merely resemble where mankind is headed in a few million years if the entire species is ever re-populated by a Jamaican and an iguana.
Now Aliens... that's where it gets intriguing. They resemble something more animal-like. Specifically, they resemble an insect.
They move on all fours, they multiply through parasitic infection, they have no language, they travel in groups, they share a hive mentality, and they resemble humans far less than predators. They don't use any tools or weaponry, and are physically much more able than humans or predators (walk upside down, run/swim really fast, leap long distances). There are even different species of Aliens within their own genus for Floyd's sake!
Oh yes, I'll take Aliens over Predators any day.

Holy mother of god, this looks brutal as all hell! And that's awesome.
I hope Rebellion can deliver, though. After Shellshock 2 and the upcoming Rogue Warrior, I have my concerns. Best of luck. I want this to be great.

I think a better name for the sequel would be, "To Catch A Predator".
Also it would be great if there was a tea bagging achievement called, "Sexual Predator".

I think the game will be made or broken on how well the Aliens are controlled.
Walking all over the walls and ceilings has to be well implemented IMHO.

Must just be me.....don't think the graphics are all the spectacular. The human models look last gen, the animation is lacking and it looks like the the Alien is floating across flat walls are are supposed to have more detail.
Hopefully more time is spent cleaning it up and proving me wrong. This is one franchise that I want to succeed.

I won't be picking up another AvP until they create something that is comparable to the classic arcade side-scrolling beat-em-up. Now that was a great game.

Okay, lately this console wars thingy is getting a little too ridiculous around here and you have to watch what you say or some idiot is going to get defensive.
He didn't say anything was going to be better on the 360. He just said he was buying it on that system. Sheesh! Maybe it's the only one he has. Just relax.

I really, really hope they can pull this one off. I love these franchises and have had to just sit back and watch as they go down the tubes with the crappy movies being shoved out the door.
If it's even half as good as the PC AvP games, I'm in.

From what I saw from the closed door sessions at E3, this is going to rock. It looked fantastic, with dynamic shadows from torches you throw to light up the dark corners, where you just know there'll be an alien... But it's empty - and you just realized that the roof has some dark corners...You back away... rifle pointed at the one corner with a shadow a bit bigger the others...and that's when you hear the rustling from the ventilation shaft in the wall behind you, and stare down at the tail poking out of your belly.
It's intense paranoia, every, single, step.

Is this going to be MP? O_o
If so, not sure how you're going to get credit for anything playing as the human class, b/c as evidenced in movies, humans die in large numbers at the hands of either Predator or Alien. I guess the best achievement as a human will be how long you can survive in an elimination round by hiding somewhere in a box...
