Sony should sell the PSP Go for $200 MSRP and include a $30 credit for any digital download off PSN.

Now that, I would buy. As it stands now, $200 is still way too expensive with no free games or nothing.

seriously, stop bitching. 200 bucks is actually a fair deal

200 bucks for a psp with 16gb hard drive, bluetooth, and that pause game feature is a decent deal.

Yeah, but you have to buy games from the PS Store for FULL PRICE. You can get a $30 game for $10 at Gamestop or Best Buy. The hardware is worth $200, but in the end it's the games that matter.

Actually the pricing off the digital titles compared to a new UMD counterpart was fair. The new releases weren't discounted but everything else was like 10-20% off MSRP.

sony boy, most of us do have jobs, but a job can't pay for everything. We work for a living, not just to buy games and stuff. With the money I make from working I to pay house payments, car payments, utility bills, and have extra money to buy games and other stuff. Just like RKN said, you need to realize the value of money, it doesn't just grow on trees.

I have one of these, working with two 8GB MicroSD cards and it reads it as 16GB. If 16GB MicroSD cards where not so expensive right now, you'd be looking at a cheap 32GB with that adapter.

the 3000 has a brighter and sharper screen, but there are visible lines when you play games. it also has a mic built in, like a DS. the ring on the back was made thinner too.

If you compare a 2000 and a 3000 side by side, you can also see a slight cosmetic difference in the shape of the cross section when viewed from the top or bottom edge of the unit. The sides, where your palms are when you hold it normally, are more beveled, less curved, on the 3000. It's not that noticeable until you hold them in your hands, actually, and then you can feel that something is different.

If I was interested in the download-only offering that the PSP Go has, then I'd pick this up for that price. But I don't even have a Fry's around my area, so yeah, I don't have to make a choice. I'll stick to my UMD's. :)

Ps3 Slimmer Still:

No optical drive, all downloadable except for third party developers, waiting hours for GOW3 to download, chance of losing them all together if your HDD decides to break but they these are a small price to pay for being cutting edge.

Yeah but it's not a fair comparison even though I know you were just saying it for effect. Services like XBLA, Steam, Wii Ware PSN (among others) are just following the path set forth by iTunes. Some people don't mind all digital. I don't want it to die so long as they offer an all digital and a physical solution.

@Kodros - It's the difference between a full game and a downloadable game. If that...makes sense....mm....how else can I put this...

Ok, imagine an Iphone game that is 1 dollar. Would you really care if your Iphone crashed and you lost that 1 dollar Iphone game? Now, imagine that your PSP crashes, and you lose Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker, a game that cost you 40 dollars or so. There is a gulf between what we (we being consumers) consider a "full retail game" and a downloadable game (like Fat Princess or BF 1943). People are willing to risk the loss of a downloadable only title, but there is a mental block over losing a full retail title by no fault of your own (say, if your PSP died)

That isn't even my issue though. My issue is how we're slowly being deceived into renting (or "licensing" I suppose I could say) games, without the ability to resell them (or make back-up copies for personal use). The first sale doctrine is completely destroyed with download only titles, and I have no desire to see that trend spill over into full retail games. I'm fine with it as far as small downloadable titles go though, if only because I have no desire to archive any of them for future use.

I think everyone realizes that digital distribution is going to take over sometime in the near future (5-10 years or so perhaps), but the first sale doctrine needs to be amended to spell out the fact that if I buy something digital, I can resell it (one time obviously) as if I had one physical copy of the CD/DVD/Game/etc. Until that happens, I'll continue to be wary.

Kodros, it's because some 3rd parties aren't releasing digital copies of their New UMD games and I'm sure some will only release digital copies with no UMD.

How do you lose it though? The games are linked to your PSN login. Unless it's different then the PS3, you just simply download them again when you replace your PSP. No games are lost and there's no need for a backup copy.

Digital distribution doesn't really bother me since I don't sell my games. My view is that if you're going to buy a game and sell it off later, just rent it instead. Granted you can't rent games for the PSP G0...at least for now.

Yeah, you're talking about games that just came out a week or two after the GO came out. I would imagine that the digital download code has to be tweaked a little bit so it makes sense that these recent games didn't do it. Any company that's not too busy sniffing paint or eating crayons will release it on UMD and PSN. A month or two from now, any company not releasing a digital download of their game is bound to get grilled by gamers as to why not.

"Namco, the one publisher that returned our request for comment, noted specifically that "there are currently no plans to release Akatsuki Rising on PSN right now," despite its October 6 release on UMD."

Of course they aren't. Why would they spend any more money on a shitty game.

@Kodros - If they shut off the PSN servers, you'd lose that content in the case of a PSP failure. There have already been cases where DRM servers have been shut off for digitally downloaded music, and people basically lost all the songs they had purchased. The same could potentially happen with games.

I know it's somewhat paranoid, but it could happen. Still, I'll admit that it isn't my number one concern. When I can resell the digital content, and make backups in case of disaster, I'll be all for digital distribution of full priced titles.

Pretty sweet deal for someone already interested in the product. I'm no good at math but thats what 20% off MSRP.

I had picked up a GO to be a companion to our 3000 but returned after about a week when I noticed a dead pixel. Thought about just exchanging it but after I realized my Gran Turismo PSP save was locked to the other machine I said the hell with it. So uh yeah it's sexy hardware and I love the portability but not enough to put up with dead pixels.
