After Uncharted the First hit Japan with the force of a thousand baby chicken feathers, we didn't think the game's sequel would have much of an impact in the region. It seems we were mistaken -- according to a gaming retailer blog called Sinobi, Uncharted 2 sold 47,000 units in its first day at retail in Japan. Sure, it's not the biggest launch ever, but it's a huge improvement over the original Uncharted's first-day sales of 7,300 units.
Of course, the original Uncharted didn't have the massive install base and Sony marketing support that Naughty Dog's latest endeavor has -- nor did it possess the simply stunning box art seen above. Seriously, Japanese Uncharted 2 box art, we're gonna need that breath back. You know, that breath that you took away.

that cover art is the business. All it needs is chuck norris and the words delta force and it would sell every unite made.

I don't know man, normally I get lost when I stare into Nathan's eyes but on that box art, he's got that "creepy uncle" look on his face.
Who am I kidding, I'd still do him.

I'm having a hard time (while laughing uncontrollably) understanding how a person with a lisp can type with a lisp. Shit makes no sense but I can't stop laughing.

Apparently you don't read many of winterfang's posts. There's a bit of unintentional hilarity in each one. Cracker Jack presents English as a Second Language.

I didn't pick up Uncharted:DF on day 1 either.
In fact because of Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank Future: TOD and Assassin's Creed at the time, Uncharted got pushed back to 2008, post trophy patch. By the time I did get it, I felt like an idiot for having waited, since it was better than the three aforementioned titles combined.
I pre-ordered Uncharted 2 and it's better than the four aforementioned titles combined. If there's anything I can do to get Uncharted 3 before day 1, I will do it.

I love the Japanese art. Quite pretty, actually. And it's good to see an improvement in sales. Naughty Dog deserves to have Uncharted 2 be a hit worldwide. A great group of talented devs.

Uncharted isn't really a Japanese friendly game, it's too Westernised. Kojima tried to make the Metal Gear franchise so that it would be accessible for both markets, but obviously Naughty Dog took a different route.

I'd like to see an Uncharted 2 cover painted by Drew Struzan.

Well, at least it stands out I guess. I bought the original from Japan and the box art was pretty good, no idea why they'd change up the style though.
