After Uncharted the First hit Japan with the force of a thousand baby chicken feathers, we didn't think the game's sequel would have much of an impact in the region. It seems we were mistaken -- according to a gaming retailer blog called Sinobi, Uncharted 2 sold 47,000 units in its first day at retail in Japan. Sure, it's not the biggest launch ever, but it's a huge improvement over the original Uncharted's first-day sales of 7,300 units.
Of course, the original Uncharted didn't have the massive install base and Sony marketing support that Naughty Dog's latest endeavor has -- nor did it possess the simply stunning box art seen above. Seriously, Japanese Uncharted 2 box art, we're gonna need that breath back. You know, that breath that you took away.

I think the cover art is pretty rad. Everyone to their own. Good for me, as it was the only choice I had when I went to buy the game yesterday at my local store.
It came included with the redemption code for the Golden Guns as well.

Uh, that cover art is very rad. Except for the ugly blue font this is way better than the American cover. Kinda reminds me of an old Indiana Jones poster

It's like ... 1988, but it looks more like something an American developer would have done to a Japanese game's boxart..

The cover art reminds me of some of those awesome NES box art covers as a kid.
I mean sure it isn't a Final Fight 2 box art cover w/ flexing muscles while drop kicking someone...but it's still pretty cool.

I wouldn't want my opinion invalidated because I made a typo. The many English Professors here would have my ass for that mistake.

Yes it is lame, if by lame you mean the greatest box art ever.

I bought it my local Bic Camera the morning of, no question. I also like the Japanese box art for two reasons, 1) it's not the same image I've seen being splashed all over the place advertising the game (it's a great pic, but I was tired of Drake hanging from the train already). 2) It's kinda kitchy, and it kinda feels like revenge for years of US publishers taking cover art and screwing it up. But this time in a good way :)

cover art is great I was feeling that whole Indiana Jones thing someone else said, but the main character just kinda looks a bit... sketchy... Let's just say that I wouldn't want my kids gettin in that guys van. He looks like he has 'intent'.

Yeah, it's kind of got that Drew Struzan style to it. In fact, they should have had him paint the cover art for the US release. It fits all too well.
