We were certain -- absolutely certain -- that the epidemic of fractured television screens which cropped up with the release of the Wii had passed. Everyone's heard the horror stories, seen the blackened eyes and witnessed the ruined electronics, we thought. Everyone now knows the methods of avoiding Wiimote accidents during their exuberant Wii Sports bouts, we thought. The Home Shopping Network recently proved the inaccuracy of this observation.
The hilarity unfolds in the video after the jump. While some might grimace at the fate of the poor television featured in the video, remember that they're charging $330 for a Wii and 15 completely unnecessary controller attachments. Call it an accident, if you'd like -- we call it Karma in action.

Not to mention that these accessories are even -more- useless than any other accessory on the Wii.

its an insult to the word accessory because these are just cheap plastic housing and you can tell how cheap and flimsy they are considering that it just snapped off during play...

I don't think you understand that the magic sensor machine needs to see a tennis racket shape. How else would it replicate your actions...ON THE SCREEN?

And for the next 30 seconds, we have a beautiful HDTV, with minor defects for only $500!

Who would buy the idiotic and unnecessary attachments after seeing that fiasco?

The Wii sensor bar DOES NOT pick up anything. The cameras are in the Wii remotes themselves, not the sensor bar. You don't even have to have the bar plugged in; you can use candles, IRLEDs, or some other method of IR light to have your Wii remotes "interact" with the screen.
Can everyone just take the two damn minutes of research to know this already? I've already corrected idiots in game stores who treat me like I'm some kind of moron. Take it from an electrical/mechanical engineer: the sensor bar does nothing but emit light.

Hah by "cameras" I assume you mean accelerometers. I love when people try to talk about how everyone else is dumb and then say the same dumb things themselves.

dudemanreview, I hope to god you are trolling because if not you are making yourself sound so stupid right now...
The accelerometers are what does all the motion control shit yes, but the point and click interface is achieved using primitive cameras (optical sensors) in the tips of the Wiimote that pick up IR light. The sensor bar emits IR light so the Wiimote knows where the TV is. You know how the tip of a Wiimote has that black area? That's where the camera is and where the Wiimote picks up the light.
"I love when people try to talk about how everyone else is dumb and then say the same dumb things themselves."
The irony of your statement is killing me.

Hey dudemanreview, the Wii Remote does in fact have an IR camera in it. The accelerometers only measure motion. To get the cursor to track, it measures two IR lights (the Sensor bar.) In fact if you go into your adjustment options for your Wii Remote, you will see the image. It only picks up IR light.
